completely different players.

McEachren would only play if Britton or Joe Allen got injured. These two have been playing in Swansea's system for years bar Britton's short stint at Sheff Utd which is probably why McEachren isn't getting a look in.

Don't you think it was a bit of a bad move to loan McEachren to Swansea considering the very little game time he has had on loan? Surely Chelsea should have known this would more than likely be the case considering Joe Allen and Leon Britton barely ever get injured.

I think Brendan Rodgers being a former youth coach at Chelsea would of been a factor, they probably thought he'd give Josh some game time. Shame it hasn't really worked out that way. Can only agree with you on it being a bad move.

He would learn more on the Chelsea bench or for that fact in the reserves. Should have loaned to Bolton again, would have first team there for remainder of year..

bit harsh throwing an inexperienced player into the middle of a relegation dogfight. Though that said, ryo miyaichi has done well there

Mata just stopped doing them because camera battery went low.

I agree, Modric is not worth 40m. Good player but not a 40m player for me. He has done no 'wonders' to make him a 40m player but that's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong he is a quality player but not worth 40m, which could be spent towards someone like Gotze or Eriksen.

Hang on, Modric isnt 40m but you would spend that on Gotze or Eriksen?!

Firstly Eriksen can only dream of being the player Modric is.

When you talk about a playmaker, here are the following players at or above Modric's level:

Xavi
Scholes
Pirlo
Iniesta
Schweinsteiger
Fabregas
Silva
Alonso

When you then talk about a regista (being more specific about his role) then you remove Silva,Fabregas, and Iniesta.

So 5 players in the world who can do what he can at his level. That is why he is so expensive. Bear in mind that 3 of those players are over 30, one having come out of retirement.

Football is always about opinions, but you can't see what Modric brings, you need to start watching much more football much more closely.

Silva is not a regista either. Mostly wing/treq.

I for one, know exactly what Modric brings and I'm saying that he is great.

he's great but not worth £40 mill?
As you can see from Mike's list, the supply of playmakers is very limited and come summer time, there will be a few teams requiring one and Chelsea really want one (therefore demand is high). Economically it makes sense for Modric to cost £40 mill. Short supply + High demand = High price. Also logically makes sense since Modric is a fantastic player. So really, Modric is worth £40 mill.
(Hope GC appreciates my basic economics :P)

I meant Silva where I said Bastian, but yeah the supply of players like that is seriously limited.

From an economic point of view, yes, but in my eyes not.

I'm sure you would buy Luka in a heartbeat. So if we and you go fight for his signature (i'm sure Levy will do everything in his power to stop that move though) he will most definitely choose utd imo.

Not sure, Chelsea have the advantage in that he likes London, and would prefer to stay there. On the other hand, if Chelsea are not playing CL then he wont go.

Sorry if you misunderstood me I clearly said that money could go TOWARDS play makers with potential and young. Eriksen or Gotze would come straight into our squad. Both cheaper and younger. The 40m could go TOWARDS these two players.

I'm pretty sure it was his choice to leave, Chelsea hardly forced him out.

He'll go to whichever offers him the most money.
