Di Matteo has achieved this because he just gone back to basics, slow tempo, direct passes, very deep line. Basically everything that Roman wanted to change. Once again the inevitable has just been put back and Chelsea waste another year.

amen.

I look at Daniel Sturridge and I see a fantastic player but one who is exceptionally selfish in the final third. If he improves his teamwork and decision making, he will be one **** of a player in the future.

deserved draw. very close game. We were solid once again defensively. Bertrand did well again.

barse next.

Think thats that regarding 4th. We'll just have to win the Champs League and break some Geordie/Spuds hearts.

Roberto Di Matteo: Has won 11 points in his first six PL games in charge at Chelsea - 2 fewer than Andre Villas-Boas managed in his first 6.

Bring back AVB? ;)

Yes, please :)

Imagine, though, all along Roman's master plan was 'sack' AVB, and use RDM till the summer because the players like him, then offload everyone who needs to go for our club to change. And then he returns; AVB re-hired as the Chelsea manager.

OK, it would never happen (well, you can never say 'never' but I'd be amazed - even though I thought about this, like, the day after AVB was sacked), but I'd be very happy if it did.

A draw was the fair result today. Disappointing performance in some ways, but good defending once again.

That's the problem...these players who excel on deep lines, direct passing (ie. Old guard) won't be at Chelsea much longer...we need to move on.

I think avb was doing the right thing but went about it the wrong way. He lost support from some of the leaders in the team - once that happened it was over.

Bertrand never ceases to amaze me. He MUST replace Ashley one day. Gifted player.

Love watching this man play, some aspects of his game are better than Cole's already.

That's completely true mate, if he dosen't learn he will end up just like Kalou. Someone who can occationaly change a game but the rest of his game is poor.

That's because AVB made some poor decisions which the players took badly which got the fans on his back which put is in such a dire position. The decisions he did make i.e dropping Lampard he done the wrong way and he didn't do enough in the transfer windows or learn from his mistakes. If he wanted to play a high line you can't play Terry or Bosingwa, but he continue'd to do so. Di Matteo has not only just gone back to basics he has bought back that Chelsea feel to the squad along with Eddie Newton. They have joined the group not tried to alienate them, also like Jamie Redknapp said the last month or so with the performances Lampard, Terry, Cole and Drogba have been putting in you would be absolutely radio rental to get rid of all of them.

Now on the game, a decent point for us i think considering the week we had. Both sides had chances but were absolutely dire with their final ball which let both sides down. To be honest I would rather talk about the youth side, for years we have been up their with the best academy in the country with no real breakthrough. That for me is mainly down to the constant changing in managers but I think this crop is the best we have ever had. Chalobah, Ake, Piazon and Feruz really do stand out and I hope to see some of these lads make it.

I like the look of Chalobah and Feruz, particularly Nats. Very athletic centre-back. Puts me in mind of a Thiago Silva or Rio Ferdinand, albeit without the latter's extraordinary intelligence and reading of the game (yet).

Funny thing with Nats is that he has been playing in Centre Midfield and did so on Friday. Great versatility for someone so young.

indeed, MOTM yesterday, brilliant performance. We should look no further, Ryan is the man to replace Ashley.

I just gave up explaining over and over again why we are better off without AVB. So should you. Just dont bother mate, this song has been sung a billion times and no one seems to have understood it.

I will say one thing and one thing only: the players just perform under RDM. Everyone's happy now, they are just eager to go on the pitch and play and give their 101% in every game.

I fully accept people have their own view and it will be different. People see AVB as a brilliant coach who deserved time, i see him as a brilliant coach who made the wrong calls and if he learns from it will become stronger.

exactly. he is brilliant, but mistakes cost him. He will bounce back im sure.

I still think the old guard never gave him a chance from the start, that then reflected on the rest of the squad. :(
