No offense to Bobby but he's got no experience at the top level of management and we have no idea how well he'd do with the one thing we need: rebuilding. Emery has had his best players nicked every season and he's still managed to come out swinging every time. The man clearly knows players, the man clearly knows tactics. And he's free...
Where else is he going to go? If I go back to my earlier tier thing about managers, Emery is a firm tier 2 candidate: someone with success but something to prove at a bigger club. This is the guy that is protesting that he is a great manager, it's just impossible to compete in a domestic league with Barca and Madrid. That sounds like the sort of guy that would jump at the chance to show how good he is at a club that will give him the funds to do so. In my mind at least, there is 0 chance he will not rebuild our squad in the summer because it's obvious that it needs it. AVB was in the tricky position where no one was quite sure how much our old boys had left in their tanks, so he chose to give them some time to prove themselves. Now we know that they can rouse themselves for cup games but have no chance of keeping that level up over a season.
