Thanks for the memories Didier! Go get one last pay day, you deserve it.

One of the greatest strikers to grace the Premier League. Heres the tribute on the Chelsea website - Didier Drogba
The last paragraph is great.
Bentley, Greaves, Tambling, Dixon, Hasselbaink. In truth, we've been almost spoilt when it comes to quality, iconic, goal-scoring strikers.
Peter Osgood is widely, and quite rightly, regarded as the king of Stamford Bridge. However, if there's room on his throne for one more, nobody would begrudge Drogba a seat.

Confirmed on the Chelsea website as well. Not suprised at all and I feel this is a good decision by the club, its time to build a new team.

Thank you so much Drogba for eight glorious years at the club. At your height, you were the best striker in the world according to me and many others I am sure. A true Blue who has been one of the leaders in our most successful era's ever. Your performance vs Bayern Munich will always be fondly remembered along with many others I am sure. True Chelsea Legend

Also he will not be going to another PLM club. He has said as much at the start of the season. I can see him linking up with Anelka in China., Shanghai Shenhua and one more club are very very keen to obtain his services

Stamford Bridge has many heroes but only one king in Peter Osgood. I think their is time for Osgood to share the throne

Farewell Didier Drogba- Chelsea FC. Website

End of an era. The departure of Drogba is the clearest indication yet that Roman is going to rebuild the squad no matter what. Anyone on here thinks we should sign a striker to replace Drogba or stick with the ones we have?

I personally feel we should not waste money in getting a top-class striker in. Torres has shown signs of form coming into the end of last season and we have to put faith in him and make him our No. 1. Lukaku has spent a season on the sidelines but he has improved a lot and I am inclined to believe he can provide adequate cover for Torres next season.

Not to mention we have academy prospects like Ulises Davilla, Patrick Bamford and Islam Feruz who all have legitimate chances of making it at Chelsea.

I wonder who next is out of the club. Malouda looks a certainty after our purchase of Marin. I would sell Kalou off too and buy someone better. Bosingwa and Ferreira should pack their bags as well. And perhaps Essien because he is just not the same player anymore and he is not getting younger

The sale of these players would free up enough space on the squad to get some real quality in. If Roman is serious about making a major investment then Hazard/Modric/Azpilicueta would be enough to take us to the level he desires. They would cost 100m combined but I believe it will be money well spent

I'm being massively fickle here but I don't know if Torres can kick it anymore (so to speak) I think we'd be better off buying a Falcao or a Cavani rather than getting to January with a striker who's not performing and being lower down the league than we should.
I love Torres but only having having 2 senior strikers in the squad is suicide in my opinion. I'm not sure you'd even call Lukaku a senior striker.

I want to know who Abramovich has lined up for the Chelsea manager to rebuild this "new squad".

Whats the point of wasting 40m on Falcao or Cavani. Torres will come good next season. I think AVB's system did not suit Torres but under RDM he has flourished so I dont think we should buy another striker if RDM is appointed the manager.

Also buying Cavani/Falcao will be detrimental to Lukaku's development. We have to put faith in our youngsters sooner or later. Why not do it instead of wasting 40m on players we dont really need. Also whats to say Falcao/Cavani will cut it in the PLM.

Plus if things go massively wrong, Sturridge can always fill the striker's spot like his dad wants him to :P

We should find out by this week I think. Not many managers out there who are availiable. De Boer wants to stay at Ajax . Doubt we will consider Martinez/Rodgers/Lambert. Unai Emery is off to Russia. Mourinho has signed a new contract with Real Madrid. Pep is shattered and will take a break.

Didier Deschamps/Rudi Garcia will not considered I think

Capello is availiable although he ruled himself out I think. Klopp wont come to us, not unless he is retarded.

Does not really leave us with a wealth of options. Only hope we have of getting a top-class manager is trying to convince Pep to come out of his sabbatical which will not happen

What a way to end his career at Chelsea.

Scored in the FA cup semi finals and finals to win the FA cup.
Scored in the Semi finals and finals for Champions league to win Champions league (With his last kick for the club).

PL legend and for sure he will be missed. I just hope he doesn't go to China, would like to see him sign for club in Germany/Italy/Spain so that we can watch him week in week out.

I've seen no shouts of retiring the number 11. I've never seen a number retired in England for that matter, any records of it?

"In training, I was on the wing, in training matches I had to keep swapping teams".

Gee, sounds like you were in a hellhole Romelu ¬¬

Torment. You're 18 at a club much larger than Anderlecht, you are not the best player, get a grip.
