I don't think so, after seeing Mikel grow into that role in midfield i think we should back him. And as a centre back we have many already. If a great player though no doubt about that.

On another note, it looks highly unlikely that Croatia will progress beyond the group stages so the Modric saga could be reaching us even sooner

I think this will all depend on how Chelsea want to use Lampard next season. From Di Matteo's reign onwards Lamps was playing a Modric type role for us and looked supurb there. It is also a role i believe McEachran would flourish in so why sign Modric if we can have Lamps do the role for a little longer with Josh taking over in the future.

I dont think Lampard has more than a season left mate. Not with us anyway. I think we will keep him for a season, and then probably sell him or bench him, but now point of benching him tbf as he is one of the highest paid players at Chelsea. Point is, Josh cant get ready for just a season. He needs a lot of first team appearances in order to develop.
Because Modric>>>Lampard in that sort of role. Look I have no problems with Lampard playing that role but its time to phase Frank out. I saw we get Modric on a 5 year contract with Lampard covering for him. In the meantime develop Josh for that role.
Their is a chance that we could play Josh as cover for that role but I do not think he is ready for even that yet. Still very raw and in desparate need of games to develop further
I think Frank knows he can't be that box to box player anymore so limiting his game a bit like Scholes did can pro long his career. I think he could have 2 maybe even 3 more years left if he takes up that role, obviously playing less games as the seasons go on.
I wanted a German defender so got him but now changed my mind and shuffled team slightly

Don't think Lampard has the required qualities to play that role.
I agree Modric is much more advanced in that position but Frank is very expirienced and can play that role, it also stops us from splashing out another 40+ million which could be used elsewhere i.e sacking the next manager haha.
