Well Lukaku's been loaned out to WBA, so our only options really are Torres and Sturridge. i don't think sturridge can lead the attack playing up front by himself, and i don't think Piazon is ready yet. Doumbia/rondon etc would have been perfect because they wouldn't have freaked Torres out too much...he would still be starting. But if hypothetically Torres gets injured for a long time, or if he's not firing, we are in a world of trouble. We cannot rush youngsters in too soon, we saw last season what happens when we do that.

We're all just working under the assumption here that torres is going to be firing on all cylinders. but we do need a plan B if that doesn't work out too well. Cavani is the perfect fit for Chelsea..he can lead the line..or play on the left wing as inside forward if Torres is firing..similar situation with Hulk on the right wing..that's why we need another striker. I really can't imagine that RDM is planning to go into a tough season with Torres and Sturridge alone. And Moses if he joins doesn't change anything. Can't imagine him leading the line in a CL tie or something. we need a world class striker...

We are in for a striker. Definitely. We have had a bid rejected by Dortmund for Lewandowski. So yea, we are going to buy one, especially now that Lukaku's gone. But that shouldnt necessarily mean that it should be an out-and-out striker. It might be, but it wouldnt be the best option. The best option is to get someone like Hulk, or another winger/striker hybrid.

Cavani cannot play anywhere other than as a Centre-Forward. Also while I agree that its important to have a plan B, it does not mean we go and do something silly like spend 40m on Cavani only to have him sit on the bench. There is value in other players, hence why we have not been interested in Cavani this summer at all but more so in players like Hulk who are versatile to gain enough playing time in other positions as well as add a plan B

I just hope any Lewandowski rumours are nonsense. Good player but makes no sense as he is going to be expensive and he does not add any qualities that Torres/Sturridge don't. Not to mention he cannot play anywhere else other than as a CF which makes it hard to justify the hefty price tag.

I am more than happy to go into the season with Torres/Sturridge and either one of Schurrle or Hulk as our 3 strikers. Hulk being the preferred option for obvious reasons in terms of adaptability

Different qualities to Torres and fairly cheap (in comparison to other targets) = Fernando Llorente.

Would love that happening... He is 27 now and would be a steal at the rumoured price tag. Also his age means that when he starts to decline, Lukaku should be ready for Chelsea if things go well.

"However, it appears the FA changed its rules after an incident during an Amsterdam Tournament in 2006, when the Manchester United pair Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney were sent off against Porto and served three-match bans."

I agree FA are ****, but its a different case now.

If I'm not wrong in the same season or next Gerrard was sent off in a friendly (Not sure whether it was Gerrard or some other player) but was not banned for league games.

Anyways good that they have finally changed some rule for better. Banning players for non competitive games was beyond joke.

Read an article in the sun today (do not normally read it but had a long lunch break and was bored) and Steven Howard has done a piece with the headline "Boorish football needs to get the Olympic message". Now i won't bother stating my opinion on the whole football should learn from others sports because that is complete horse ****. My gripe is with his rant at Ashley Cole.

Compare this to the bolshy Ashley Cole wandering through the Champions League Final mixed zone in Munich, headphones clamped to his ears, refusing to speak to anyone. Withdrawing any sort of responsibility despite being paid over £100,000-a-week.

Compare that to the pittance some of our Olympic sportsmen and women survive on.

Asked by a Chelsea official whether he might lower himself far enough into the gutter to speak to the media, Cole replied: “F*** ’em.”

Charmed, I’m sure

And you wonder why he doesn't give interviews to any media outlet! If he does something nice (like give his runners up medal to a kid) it goes unnoticed, they try and slate him at every given opportunity. He is not contractually obliged to talk to them and what the **** has his salary got to do with it? If you earn a certain amount does that mean you should talk to the media whenever they require you too. One day i believe papers will die and we will be better for it, absolute poisonous, talentless liars.

As well as the olympic athletes did, and as much as I'm pleased for them, they media are in an absolute love-in with olympians atm. I saw a similar article on the train earlier which basically misquoted Cleverley as saying that what the GB football team achieved is just as good as what the gold medal winners achieved (he wasn't saying that at all). It went on to say that EPL footballers could learn from the 'heroes' of the olympics.

Due to that being off topic I will now post something Chelsea related :$ I think Schurrle is the right player at this point. Hulk is IMO too expensive for his ability, and Cavani will be too expensive to be second choice. Sturridge IMO has a fair amount of improving to do in order to be up to standard, and is fairly untested leading the line. Schurlle is relatively cheap, can play on the wing or up front and won't be expecting to start every game. Much like Moses, only I believe Schurle is a better player.

Its The Sun, what do you expect? Quality articles?

Fair point but it's not only the Sun who are guilty of it.

Quite a few newspapers have a go at Ashley. Partly because Ash like Terry brought it upon himself. Only The Sun though take such an idiotic angle towards it

Well, we are talking about the Sun here. This is a paper who thought the 96 dead at Hillsborough were fair game to be attacked. Lets remember who their owners are: a company who hacked thousands of people, and thought it ok to DELETE messages off a murdered girl's phone during the investigation. Attacking footballers is nothing to them.

Unfortunately millions of people still buy this pathetic paper, which is why it can get away with what it does. If people didn't buy it the Sun ceases to exist. But because our country if filled with idiots, the paper sells.

Its like a conspiracy theorist who cannot accept the truth, the real story or the real person isnt interesting enough. People who read stuff like the Sun regularly or other nonsense like gossip/hollywood magazines just love the drama and rubbish they spew out because to them its far more interesting than the boring reality of life.

Moses and Azpilicueta would be two very shrewd signings. If they indeed go through, I will be very happy with Emeleano. For once we are not pointing to the shiniest toy in the market and splashing the cash on it but instead going for good value signings
