Moses and Azpilicueta would be two very shrewd signings. If they indeed go through, I will be very happy with Emeleano. For once we are not pointing to the shiniest toy in the market and splashing the cash on it but instead going for good value signings

Emenalo has nothing to do with any of this. Maybe a little.

Umm no... He works with RDM and Roman in the transfer market. I'd go so far as to say he is the most important man for the transfers/loans in and out of the club.

He is the 'Yes man' there. Roman (mainly) and RDM say who is staying and who is going. Pretty much.

Agreed, i rate the pair of them and both resonably young and cheep and will add strengh in depth to our side. Hope they both go through asap but knowing Chelsea will be confirmed when the window has actually closed!

The papers have unfairly branded him as one.

I thought Emenalo was mainly in charge of academy signings? May be wrong.

He has full control over academy signings, works with Roman and RDM on first-team signings. Does the negotiating etc. and works with the scouts to identify potential targets

Chelsea are in a bit of a tight spot in regard to Moses. Wigan are asking for too much for a player in the last year of his contract. Yet Chelsea know Moses is one of the best deals out there when you consider his future ability and price tag. That and I also feel we are dilly-dallying on the deal because Hulk's future is yet to be resolved

Sigh, we still have another fortnight but I am surprised Wigan have held on for so long.

Whelan is in no rush to sell (although he might lose him for free next summer). We are talking about arguably the best Wigan player, so reluctance is prevalent when it comes to selling your best asset.

And lets face it, we are not paying that crazy money Da Costa wants for Hulk, no club is. He isnt worth that.

Not when you risk losing him for free next year and Chelsea are dangling close to 7m pounds with add-ons under your nose.
Whelan is just being silly now, I will be very surprised if Chelsea pay the 10m pounds he is demanding particularly as we got Marin for lesser than that and Marin is a better player than Moses atm

Mm.. Silly - maybe. That's 7m pounds for a player with 12 months remaining on his contract. On the other hand, we are talking about their best player. So he can pump up the price as much as possible. But I'd agree, and say he is a bit silly, because thats 7m.

He is worth about £7 million, but to Wigan he is worth £10 million, if that makes sense. He's their best player so it's understandable that they want to be paid over the odds.

Very interesting interview from Torres- Link is here

Insightful read on his state of mind under AVB and what he hopes to achieve next season.

Good stuff. This season is a make or break for him, definitely. But with all those players that arrived (and keep arriving) I am a bit more hopeful.

Aye and Oscar will be starting training tommorow.

What is your line-up for Wigan?

I would go with...

--------------Cech----------------------------
--Ivanovic--Luiz--Terry------Ashley Cole--
-----------Mikel--Lampard-----------------
--Marin------Mata------------Hazard-------
------------ Torres---------------------------

I would go with Marin over Ramires. Particularly because I doubt Wigan'[s full-backs will pose any serious attacking threat so I'd rather have Marin run at them with speed and flair to cause them problems

Also no point throwing Oscar in yet.. Might as well give him a break to let him settle in. Rest of the team pretty much pick themselves. If things are not going too well.. We still have Sturridge/Ramires and hopefully Moses to call upon

Things looking much better than last season which mostly consisted of trying to surround Mata with the least crappy players

Agreed. And yes, absolutely. Oscar must not be rushed, no point. Should take his time. The good thing is, he is fit, and ready to go when it comes to pure fitness.

Erm.. Pretty much the same team for me. I'm really looking forward to seeing where Oscar will play. Because that will change things. Tactically. Anyway, we will see.

Oscar could probably play as CM in a 4-3-3 where he defensive inefficiencies will not be so exposed or anywhere in the band of 3 behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1. Although I feel trying to fit Mata,Hazard and Oscar into that band of 3 would be suicidal due to the lack of width. You need to add Marin or Ramires to provide that width.

Also reports in France say the Azpilicueta deal is done. Hopefully they are right this time

Here's an interesting piece regarding Azpilicueta: Marseille | Azpilicueta, décollage imminent | La Provence

Not sure if 'La Provence' is reliable, please let me know if it isn't.

Basically, it says: Representatives of Azpilicueta are/should be in London today to meet with Chelsea. Price between 8€ and 10€.

I tried Google translate, but it was a horrible try.

Meh not sure whether it is... Although the story mostly adds up to what is being said by the Marseille President etc.
