Going to remain hopeful till he actually signs for Madrid although it certainly looks as if we have made a last-minute bid which is delaying his transfer.... Key is are Madrid willing to go higher with their offer and is Modric ready to move to Chelsea instead of Madrid?

Also news on the Azpilicueta deal has gone silent? Latest reports said he will sign by next week. Not sure if the Moses transfer will go through if Modric signs as well. Not sure whats going on at Chelsea tbh... But who does

Same mate. If Roman actually decides to call Levy's bluff, wonder where will Oscar play? Because there are currently 3 players fighting for that #10 spot, including Oscar.

Oscar can play anywhere across the band of 3.... Thats why I said that if we sign Modric, we probably will not sign another attacking player

Sounds like this transfer saga is going to play out till the end of the window. Its possible that the Chelsea bid is fabricated to prompt Madrid to increase their bid. Who knows?

Pretty sure its the latter. Levy is one of the smartest bastards out there when it comes to selling players.

As for Oscar, I agree he can, but he is most effective when he plays in the middle.

Guillem Balague is a well respected journalist in Spain though. He is usually reliable and does not tweet information unless he got it from a reliable source. We just have to wait and see

Sure but from what I saw today, Mata and Hazard interchanged a lot. Expect to see the same if Oscar plays. Also don't forget that Mata will be given a break sometime this season which will increase Oscar's game time. I was pretty excited with what I saw of Oscar today... Intelligent player, vision to spot the runs of his teammates and passes and can score goals as well.

Also many pundits criticising us for not finishing the game off... Don't they realise we got 2 games this week with the next one in 2-3 days. Di Matteo probably asked the lads to sit back and play it out and not exert themselves.

Oscar was good. I expect more key passes from him than assists. I would rest Mata for Reading (IMO), especially if Marin returned.

Marin might return for the game after Reading. Feel Reading would be too soon for him which is a shame. He was looking very good in Preseason.

The same as the last 20 years :p People can say money doesn't buy success, but it does. It might not win you the title immediately, but persist and you'll achieve

No it doesn't it all depends on how you spend the money. Liverpool have spent bucket loads in the last 24months but are no closer to winning big trophies.

and you know because....?

Just saying different sources will say different things, and its hard to know which is correct

It's not true i can say that much, like what has been said only JT, Terry and Torres are on over 150k. Drogba was too before he left.

Lukaku makes it 3-0 WBA. LAD!

Actually celebrated like it was a Chelsea goal! I rate the kid, such a shame so many Chelsea fans have turned against him already.

HAZARD !!!!!!!!!!!!! What a start for the lad! Arrogant ****!

Such an arrogant ******* being all quick and tricky and ****!

Reports suggesting we will try give Mata a rest in September if the Spanish FA agree to leave him out of games they have in that month.

I genuinely can't believe all the negative stuff i saw on here. From last season there was one change today in terms of personal so 10 of the 11 are still trying to learn a new system. A lot of sides would not win games until they adapt but we did which says a lot for the players. I saw Cech and the defence not lumping it out as much (still did at times) as previous seasons, i saw us closing them down and forcing them into mistakes and i saw two debutans play very well when doubted by some. There was definitely more positives than i expected there to be. There was some poor aspects about today in we have to be more clynical when we do have possession, more movement is needed and quicker passes need to be played.

All in all i was happy, Bertrand was very good, JT solid as usual, Oscar improved the game and Hazard well possibly the best debut for a Chelsea player especially the first half.

Drogba was on 90k p/w Carl if I am not wrong. Not sure though

And yeah apparently the Spanish FA has agreed to give Mata rest during the September International Break.... Not that it makes much of a difference to them anyways with the players they have

He started on 90k, apparently he was on solid six figures when he left. Not as much as Lampard, but close.

From what i was told he was on close to 150k at the time of leaving.

Then I guess its a good thing we released him... Also RDM said the club is opening contract talks with Lampard. Bummer

It was, that's why when we got rid of him i said we would be saving 600k a month. I think he may get a one year extension but if Oscar settles quickly then he will play very little next season. I wouldn't be against it if he is willing to take some sort of pay cut.

You know when people call him arrogant, they're not calling him bad?

People call him arrogant for everything the lad does. From what i have seen/heard he is far from it, just a lad who is immensely talented.

His wages are the main issue. Anyone we sign now counts in the FFP. Either Lampard takes a significant wage cut or I'd say we take the opportunity to release him now. He is on too much...

He is definitely gone if we get Modric- Very unlikely I know

He will be perceived as arrogant by the media and fans after all he did to get here. No point defending him Carl...He may not be arrogant in reality but what do you expect the average football fan to think after all he did to get his move

You can be arrogant and immensely talented. I don't mind, I think it just translates to confidence in his abilities. It's when people are arrogant and can't back it up, then they're just a bit of a ****.
