Agreed and understandable, but what ****** a lot of people of was this belligerence about his position being made untenable etc, as if he has been pushed out. As many people pointed out, but the FA's own ruling on evidence he didnt have a leg to stand on. Should "fronted up (like he often says he is fond of), and he would have admitted it earlier and not missed such tough games. Chelsea are not going to sanction him.

Also Cole fined 90k. What? Sorry this is wrong, switch Cole and Ferdinand's fines round.

You sound surprised that the FA did something not very consistent?

Seems odd that he got fined twice as much :/

I dont see how they justify this. Ferdinand's was worse. The only reason he wasn't facing higher charges was because it wasn't a direct tweet, I still think he was lucky not to get a game ban. Cant' have anything to do with wages really because Rio is on 120k, roughly the same as Cole.

haha this is true, but this seems like monumental bungling here... no wait you're right, monumental bungling is what they do.

Well, with Bernstein not being allowed to remain on the board maybe others will follow. Then whoever comes in can bring some common sense into the meetings and get this mess sorted out. I maybe grasping at straws but I believe in miracles...

Haha some serious clutching going on there Ajt.

OK, I think the higher fine might be because he's currently in the England side, since they have that code of conduct which accounts and allows for different penalties if you are in the side. whereas Ferdinand is not. I'm not sure. This is something they should clarify.

It's all part of my much more positie outlook in life lol.

Maybe the fine difference is also the result of the grovelling too. Who knows.

Agreed mate although I am not complaining about him taking his time over the appeal as it's probably a blessing in disguise for us. Cahill is a better bet to partner Luiz now according to me. Great all-round defender who shares the same strengths as Terry but not as vulnerable to pace

The more I think about it, the more i believe Cole's heavy fine is down to the fact that he was in the England squad at the time, whereas Ferdinand obviously was not.

John Terry to be fined more than £300,000 but to remain club captain. Ouch

You thought he wouldnt?

My heart said that in line with the club stance he wouldn't be, but my head said otherwise. But that's not my main bug bear right now.

What is amazing to me (though it shouldn't be) is the fact he got walloped with that fine, which is more than the one Serbia got wth Lazio combined (less than 70,000 euros or something-**** with currency conversion). Just shows how spineless UEFA are

And bear in mind, Chelsea didnt wholly agree with the decision. But they showed no tolerance. Well played Chelsea, Platini could learn a few things.

To be fair, this makes me think Abramovich made it happen. So many spineless people involved with football that it is unfortunately a rarity to get punishment that actually hurts players mind you.

I think Abramovich is looking at his investment, the investment of the sponsors and the importance of good image to Chelsea as it grows in line with FFP and becomes a "worldwide" club of the size of Utd, and like it or not, image is important - and he's clearly here for the long term. Those hundreds of thousands of fans across the world don't have the "loyalty" to the player which they have to the image, the brand; and that has discernible value and needs maintenance; and this is part of that.

I think after the AVB fiasco, Ambramovich had finally decided to knuckle down on everyone. It's clear to see that he blamed the players for AVB's sacking and his stance seemingly has not changed. Lampard is definitely going to be released after this season. Perhaps Cole too. Terry is gone in 2014 when his contract expires. Seems like their is a radical change of club image taking place both on and off the pitch. As Ambramovich said after we won the CL.... This is just 'the beginning' and not the end
