Thought Suarez was going to make it 2-1, if only Cech was a little slower :@

BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea have reported Howard Webb to the FA for using "inappropriate language". Apparently he called Fernando Torres a striker...

lol. made me laugh.

I honestly thought he played quite well today, looked up for it and had a few chances which were very well saved by Jones

He was ok today I thought looked good on the ball and was beating a few Liverpool players and I agree he was unlucky with a few chances due to Jones making some good saves. Still think he has to be scoring more then he does but tbh before the season started if every Chelsea fan was asked if they would have Torres on 7 goals at this stage of the season they would take it. It took him till what April or may to reach 7 last season so he is looking better in a Chelsea shirt but still needs to improve quite abit.

Considering RVP has 11, think Torres is doing alright, needs to gamble more often though.

We could do with a more complete striker who contributes to our build-up play and is clinical rather than wasteful in front of goal. Wilfried Bony seems like a good prospect. Leandaro Damaio seems an option. We cant get Llorente till the summer. Falcao/Cavani will cost a bomb and not sure if you wanna pay that much anyways

You can always buy Falcao and give Torres back to us ;)

Very annoyed we dropped points against what was a poor Liverpool side but we only have ourselfs to blame and although most of the chelsea posts suggest it was not Torres's fault! Both Oscar and Mata missed absolute sitters where Torres actually had 2 decent chances well saved by Jones.

Exactly right mate. I know I can be very harsh on Torres when I'm wind up about results which you've proberly seen in previous posts but to blame him for yesterday is ridiculous.

Chelsea had 15 shots to Liverpool's 10, but could only manage three on target the same number as the Reds, showing we did not test the relatively inexperienced Brad Jones nearly enough. The Australian made only two saves, both from Fernando Torres, and both were very good.

chelsea 10 attempts from inside the area to Liverpool's five, but looked most dangerous from set-pieces, with John Terry's goal, Torres and Branislav Ivanovic going close.

Luis Suarez's goal was Liverpool's first effort on target after 72 minutes. The Uruguayan had one more, from near the halfway line, before Petr Cech's late save from Jose Enrique.

Terry scored with his only attempt, while Juan Mata, Ivanovic and Eden Hazard failed to find the target with any of their shared seven efforts.

Perhaps surprisingly for a home game, Chelsea had only 43 per cent possession and completed only 80 per cent of theyre 386 passes. In contrast Liverpool had an 87 per cent success rate, completing 442 of 507.

Critically, however, it seems Liverpool's greater possession was in areas that could not hurt Chelsea. In the attacking third, they made 135 passes to Chelsea's 143.

Both teams' preference for the short pass is highlighted by goalkeeper behaviour. Cech only went long with his passes twice, and was once successful, while Jones kept his seven passes short.

Four Liverpool players outpassed John Mikel Obi, Chelsea's top passer. The game's top passer was Joe Allen who completed 57. He was caught in possession several times, launching Chelsea counter-attacks, however, and one of these led to his booking for hauling down Torres.

Hazard and Suarez were both dangerous on the attack, the Belgian making 21 of 25 passes in the final third, the Uruguayan 18 of 20.

Mata and Hazard created seven chances between them, Terry's goal coming from the Spaniard's corner.

Liverpool were caught offside seven times to Chelsea's one, with Suarez the main offender, unsurprising given his tendency to sit on the shoulder of the last defender.

Liverpool's wide men were better utilised defensively. Glen Johnson and Enrique were asked to provide attacking threats, but instead they did well on the back foot, Enrique winning all seven of his tackles, Johnson all five of his.

I actually predicted that you would have most of the ball but we would then hit you on the counter and this was evident especially in the first half and it worked as we should have been out of sight.

When you have the attacking talent of mata, hazard and Oscar and then the pace of Ramires, Chelsea are built for counter attack in these types if games... Just lacked a killer instinct

Yeah agree, like i said both Oscar and Mata should have scored and 3-0 at halftime is game over.

The man of steel.

Agreed, definitely Mata... although Liverpool have been like that in ALOT of matches this season, makes a change for us to actually get points in a match we don't deserve rather than play well and get nothing

My problem with Torres is that he is not clinical at all. Look at strikers like RVP or Falcao who can bury even half-chances. At times this season Torres has even been missing easy chances. Not to mention the irritating number of times he loses the ball or ***** up a pass. He scored a goal, very lucky, against shakhtar after a 7 hour drought. And then you add in all the stupid things he does off the pitch- Giving a stupid interview after the CL finals. Walking down the tunnel after being subbed off against QPR

I am not blaming him for our draw yesterday. But it's clear to spot the liability in our team at the moment. We could do wonders with a better striker at the helm. Torres has had his chance and he does not look like he will ever redeem it. Time to cut our losses instead of trying to make good on a transfer that was flawed from the start
