I don't know why people trash Rafa, one 10 month flop with Inter doesn't mean he is *****. He was brilliant in Liverpool, look at the players he had. I get that he may be controversial figure, but his teams are always great defensively, he doesn't **** around when players are underperforming, and he's propably the only person who can get Torres to work, which are exactly the 3 things you need right now. Plus if in the summer Pep decides to come, squad will already learn how to curse in spanish.
 
If there was such thing as long-term at Chelsea, I'd say Moyes. My most favourite manager bar Jose.
 
After some thought, I'm now in a bunker ready for the abuse for the following opinion.

I sort of want the fat spanish waiter. I hated him at Lpool but what he did at Valencia and Pool was amazing, he's also quite tactically sound with a 4231. Torres' morale will rise (although I think hes past it now and it won't change anything) and we have one more Spaniard for our collection.
He likes an interesting buy - some good, some not so good. If we can't have Pep or Jose then I think he's 3rd best at the moment. RDM in my opinion got lucky last season, he isn't that great.. I love him, hes a legend etc. but it doesn't mean he's right for us.

Disclaimer: I don't think he should have been sacked. Yet.
 
A couple of points id like to add: to all of you who want pep Guaridola he wouldnt last long as youve already tried Andre Villa-Boas who attempted to change the style of play and see where that got him, and secondly i persenoly think managers like AVB, Rodgers and Martinez should be given more time as managers due to the fact that they are changeing the philosephy of play to a better one.
And my bet is on Redknapp as hes english and Abrohimovic might want to conect with his fans country.
 
Redknapp is highly unlikely as he's in talks with Ukraine

I think barring any catastrophic change it is going to be Rafa Benitez and he is on his way back to Heathrow airport right now and wasn't due to even fly back till friday.

Wouldn't mind seeing Rafa back in the Prem. Excellent manager
 
Not surprised this happened in the slightest, Roman basically forced into offering him a contract after one of the luckiest CL wins. It was obvious he wasn't meant to stay and he'd be gotten rid of once the chance popped up, Roman is going to go do his thing though and throw more money at the club to get it to work.

Doesn't take a genius to see where Chelsea's shortcomings are both on and off the pitch.

Indeed, but I can't see Rafa accepting a short-term contract like everyone is saying.

Would Rafa really want to be a stop-gap for Pep Guardiola if the rumours are true that it is going to be a short-term contract?

After today i think Pep will think twice before accepting Chelsea job.

I don't get how he fits Abramovich pretty football ethos though, with Benitez you get a tactically astute manager which can be quite mechanical at times but can be effective.

That's the question I guess. It's like I mentioned before though-I still feel Pep needs a bit more experience out of Barca

Well he still wants Guardiola as far as we know. Not sure why Benitez would accept to be a stop gap.
