How I would love Fellaini at Chelsea:wub: Would feel sorry for Everton and all of the fans though I do really like Everton and a fan of David Moyes :)

No you wouldn't-you'd be drinking pints in celebration in getting one of the best CM/DM's in the PL lol.

But if it did happen, it would rip the heart out our CM and strengthen yours immensly. Not only in defensive duties but also in scoring goals. He would be very, very hard to replace. Mainly because say for example, Chelsea paid £23 million (as an example). Guarantee you one thing-half (or more) of that money would go straight to the bank. He would be very, very hard to replace (as he showed against Man Utd and Man City today). Yes he does stupid fouls (for the pen today as an example), and he may look cumbersome. But my good-he is on a fast track to becoming a world class CM/DM

Mikel
Oscar-Fellaini
Hazard-Mata
Falcao

And Ramires can play in any of the middle 4 roles. Jesus...

To be fair, with the form Fellani is in, and with some of the high profile clubs who need a midfield player, it actually might not be too bad a thing for Everton to cash in on him in January. You'd get a huge fee for him, and with Moyes' knowledge you could probably get a decent replacement as well as strengthen a few other areas of the squad. Cheeky suggestion which I'm sure you'll disagree with, but I'm just offering you some crumbs of comfort to cling on to if he goes;)

Think Chelsea would do better to purchase a different type of midfield player. Fellaini would be great, but for the fee Everton would demand they could get a very talented deep playmaker who could really unlock the potential of the attacking 3.

To be honest, getting nearly £30 million for him, compared to what we could get from Champions League money if he stays...I'd rather we keep him. If he wanted to go AFTER qualifying for the CL so be it, I wouldn't blame him. He's a fantastic player who would get into any starting XI. If we lost him during Jan, it could potentially destablise us as there's not many of his calibre going for a price we could afford, after half the money goes to the bank. It's pretty much a catch 22 for us.

My dad has been saying this for a few years now. His goals from midfield will never be replaced.

Pretty much. Midfield workhorse who can consistently outscore top class strikers, thats one of a kind deal, it just doesn't happen. This is one of things that made old Chelsea so scary, even with only 3 real offensive players, there always was constant, serious goal threat.

Now i'd expect regista type of player in January, rather than striker.

Which is why Fellaini would be a good target. He's proving to be a very good target man right now, with Jelalivc hitting a dry run right now. Though I'm hoping Roman and Rafa would overlook this. If you take Fellaini out the equation, that would leave Osman, Baines and Jags as our goalscorers. Which is quite a worry

Would make more sense to recall Kevin De Bruyne, who has been performing excellently as a DLP for Bremen so far this season. I think he's ready, but it might be harsh throwing him in at the deep end.

Saying he's been playing as a DLP is stretching it, he's been much more mobile and plays too high up the pitch to be called a DLP. Hunt's definitely the attacking midfielder and Junuzovic is the defensive midfielder, so De Bruyne's been a weird mix between a regista and a vertical runner.

He has more freedom to roam than a DLP usually has, but he starts everything from deep and picks his moments to burst forward. His shooting from range and dribbling are both great, would be stupid of Bremen to put a leash on him.

Eh, I still don't think he properly fits the DLP archetype. It's a toss up between whether Bremen have put a leash on him or whether he just wanders off by himself. His defensive work leaves a LOT to be desired as well: he's dribbled past the third most of the entire team, fouls at almost exactly the same rate he does a clean tackle, and crucially has only 8 interceptions for the season. Not to mention his passing success % is below 80, which is poor for someone who's meant to retain possession, and he's only played 3 through balls this season.

He's been good, but he's also been extremely raw. Throw him into Chelsea's midfield right now and he will cost you, big time. I'm still not convinced he'll ever make a good regista. A good player? Yes. A good regista? No.

I was just thinking that at one point in time Chelsea had Mourinho, AVB, Brendan Rodgers and Steve Clarke working for them at the same time. Wow.

Wow where do I start with all this horseshit! Okay lets start with the comment I do not blame Rafa for taking the job, out of work for 2 years and this comes available and they want him, easy choice. But there shouldn't have even been a position available in the first place Roman!!!!! Roman and he's yes men i.e Gourlay, Buck, Tenenbaum and Emanalo are 100% to blame for current results and action needs to be taken ASAP!! I do however blame the players for not killing the game off in the first half yesterday when we had 2-3 decent chances but then blame Rafa for he's subs. Moses was our biggest threat so he brings him off, Hazard was growing in the game as the defenders got tired so he bought him off, two very poor subs in my opinion. I will say congratulations to WHU and especially big Sam because he's subs at HT got them playing and Diame started putting a lot of pressure on us mixed with Taylor's brilliant crosses. I have constantly said i can handle Chelsea being the most hated team as all it does is unites the players and fans and makes us stronger. But being a laughing stock hurts me personally and gets fans against each other.

atleast there is a positive, southampton away in the cup which is just 19 miles from me! Happy ******* days!

Indeed, of course, the players wont get the blame, Rafa will be the scapegoat. Also why you let Essien go on loan baffles me. He is EXACTLY what you need right now.

Although he isn't ready for the Prem he has two assists today - KDB

I wouldn't say he's extremely raw, but he still has a lot to learn. I did say it would be harsh to throw him in at the deep end, but out of the three loanees he's the most 'ready'. McEachran should stay at Boro and Lukaku is best served playing regularly at WBA. We will have a ton of games come the new year, granted we beat Leeds and progress further in the FA Cup. Plus I don't think the Europa League will be one of the clubs top priorities. Our squad already thin as it is, so a few more players in to rotate in these games would benefit our top 4 push.

Going back to my original reply to alicwkd, he suggested buying a new player for the role. Not only in today's market is it hard to find these type of players, but they come at a price to. That's why I suggested KdB. He's the closest we have to it, although you could argue Oscar can do a job there in the future as he's already good tactically and a good worker.

I wasn't suggesting throwing De Bruyne straight into the team, but grooming him for the role in the games that don't hold much importance. His versatility can see him rotate in other games all across the midfield.

No win since October, how much worse can it get?

Plus its not like market is crawling with world-class DLPs. Even maybe-world-class-one-day like M'Villa would still cost.

I'm a Villa fan, you really want me to answer that?

Sure, but it's better shelling out 20 mil on a DLP than just using a player who isn't a DLP there and destroying your team's entire shape.
