After having finished Pep Guardiola's biography by Guillem Balague, I have to say GC was spot on. Mourinho really did crush Pep.

On the field? Somewhat. Off the field? Almost totally. Guardiola looked about ten years older after his final season.

Agreed. What I failed to realize was that all this was an act by Mourinho. Before coming to Madrid, when he saw Barcelona play he knew he was coming up against his most formidable adversary yet.

He knew that the only way he could beat such a team was by unsettling and destroying its foundations which he did with his ludicrious accusations of match-fixing, bribing referee's and favourtism by UEFA against Barcelona.

Not only that he brought out the worst in Pep forcing him to the point where he actually lost it and ranted and raved against Mourinho in one press conference. A far cry from the usually cool image he presents to the public.

Which did we ever sack him D:

Luiz is a billion times more effective in the midfield. Why am I not surprised.

Because he hasn't actually had to defend anything yet.

The idea of David Luiz permanently playing a position that prioritises more than any other positioning, discipline and concentration is mildly terrifying/hilarious, depending on who you support.

I'm just saying he is more effective as a midfielder. As a defender, his concentration and discipline will cause bigger problems for us. I still think he can make a good holding midfielder if he works on those 3 things you mentioned.

I just said that a defensive midfielder requires more concentration and discipline (of both kinds) than a defender. That's pretty irrefutable.

Yeah he could, but why? Why spend years (and it will take years, as holding midfielders hit their peak at around 29/30) trying to mould him into a defensive midfielder when he's patently not suited to it?

**** I forgot the game on and I just saw the score on my Facebook feed :-/

Robbie Savage on MOTD:
"David Luiz has looked very good, he always looks forward and he played a great pass to Eden Hazard. He is looking comfortable in midfield. It is early days but for me the best two players to play in that position are Luiz and Frank Lampard, when he is back. Both can do what Mikel does, because I don't know what Mikel does."

GOD ******* DAMMIT SAVAGE

Because he's not suited for anywhere else on the pitch?

He likes to go forward so often, I'm thinking he wants to be a midfielder. lol
