****** well hope we sign a midfielder. Hopefully the board listens to Benitez.

I honestly think Benitez is a superb manager. With the signing of Demb Ba nearly complete, I truly think he can put us back in the title race. If he can get 2-3 more players in, who knows? This could be our season.

No it can't. Man United are to good this year and if City don't get back to their best they will walk it

Normally I would agree with this but look back on the 95-96 season when Newcastle blew a 12 point lead and Utd came back to win the title. I wouldn't count any of the top 4 teams out until mathematically impossible to come back

Fixed that for you. :)

Seriously though, Van Persie is an illustration of just how important a good striker is to a team. Mike.'s been banging on about Chelsea fixing their midfield problems - and he is right to - but that overlooks the simple fact that Chelsea can pretty much forget about their unbalanced midfield for a while if they just had a clinical striker who can turn games at the drop of a hat. ****, that's what United are doing.

The only team who I can see catching United is City. Everyone else simply isen't good enough.

Moutinho or Paulinho would be perfect, but I doubt it. It would be too good a transfer window.

At the end of the day, goals win games. You might play like ****. You might be lucky to hang on when they carve you open. You might only feed your striker 2/3 balls a game but if he puts them away, you win. That's normally the attitude you'd expect to see from a mid-table club though...

I think people are really, really underestimating the impact a good striker will have on us though. We do need to fix our midfield balance so we can control the game better but we're still in the top 4 playing with basically 10 men 3 weeks out of 4.

With Ba + 1 in Jan, I tink we'd be as good as you. If we get Falcao in the summer, I think we’d actually be a considerable bit better. You have a lot of problems areas being masked by a prolific dutchman at the moment, whereas we’re just a few steps away from being a pretty complete team.

I agree that no one bar City is likely to catch you, but that’s because you have such a big points lead at the moment, not because you’re likely to win more games or because you have a better team. Even if we got Falcao this window and won every game, I can't see you dropping that many points.

I'm not a united fan lol :p. But I agree Chelsea arent far off but I can't see Ba imporiving the team much. Yeah he is a fantastic player but Rafa and Roman both love Torres so he will play almost every game. I also agree that United have some problems in the team as well. If you do get Falcao in the summer then next season will be the best yet between you, City and United but you have to get rid of Torres he is dragging you down.

Really? o.O

People keep saying this. Rafa has already said he will rotate the pair of them and he wants Torres to get a lot more rest than he is atm. And seeing as how Rafa is just a giant tumble dryer- lots of hot air, secretly full of fluff, endless rotation- I doubt we'll be seeing Torres starting as much as people seem to think.

100k?He's not Beckham.

He's better. Seriously, if you put Frank in the MLS, he will win it for whatever team he plays for. The game is sedate enough for him to be a powerhouse of stamina, he's got enough technical skill to dominate a match thereand I have a feeling that their understanding of his late runs into the box won't be amazing.

That.

Is amazing.

Easily. MLS clubs are particularly lacking in quality midfielders, and Lamps would be totally unique in that league. He'd likely end up leading goalscoring charts after about 12 games.

I'm not sure he was talking about ability, but rather that as a brand Beckham > Lampard.

Which perfectly sums up what I have been saying since THAT Man Utd-Chelsea game. A lot of problems will be fixed if we had a clinical striker for a change.
