Here is an interesting stat in Didier Drogbas first 100 starts for Chelsea he scored 41 goals and Fernando Torres has 39 in his first 100.
That's very interesting. However, you have to consider the difference in the quality of the teams they've played in - Chelsea in 2004 (or 2005?) were much worse, in my opinion, than the Chelsea of today - on paper, anyway, and in team chemistry.

Hmm not sure it was much worse when you look at the two squads on paper the one now looks better but back in drogbas first few seasons we still had some great players robben, duff, joe cole, Gudjohnsen, gallas, Carvalho etc etc.

also when putting that stat not really trying to compare Torres to drogba haha he will never reach the legendary status of drogba I'm pretty sure a lot more of drogbas goals in his first 100 starts were in the league than Torres' but it still shows Torres hasn't been as bad as people say. IMO has Torres overall been a good player for us? Yes not worth the 50 mil paid but he has still been a good player for us.

It'll be interesting to see how Cavani and Neymar do compared to Torres, they're both ~?50 million players too.

Torres's first 88 league appearances for Chelsea: 15 goals and 12 assists.

Drogba's first 91 league appearances for Chelsea: 42 goals and 20 assists.

21 of them 91 appearances from Drogba were him coming on as a sub and 30 of Torres's 88 have been by coming off the bench.

When you look at that then it doesn't look too great. What i will say is that although Torres has not been sensational he has not been as shocking as some people would have us think.

His goal record has been OK for Chelsea, although I'd say Drogba offers more than Torres in other aspects of the game.

Totally agree mate, everyone knew he wasn't and was never going to be worth the money Chelsea paid for him.

Luiz can definitely improve a bit, especially under Mourinho. But I'm afraid defensive positioning and reading the game is not something that can significantly change for someone in his stage of career, at 26 with hundreds of games at the top level. You either have it at this point or you don't.

He will always be the kind of defender that relies on acceleration and power more then on anything else.

That's why Torres is not back, will never be back and should never be praised for scoring a couple of goals in a game. Don't wait for him, he isn't coming back.

I wont be surprised if fans start singing to Hazard 'You're just **** Ashley Young'.

Well well, seems Mourinho is working his magic with Torres. Would be nice to see him back to top form though, he used to be great to watch, utter marauding. I do, however, hope he ties up his boots incorrectly against Arsenal and fluffs all his chances.
