That joke I get. It's funny and I get it. But you can't slate your strikers in that manner and expect them to perform even better. I mean, COME THE **** ON.
Oh he has been slating them openly alright, and he thought it wwas private conversation not an interview. Yeah he made a howler but life goes on. Doesn't matter, he has a very good relationship with Eto'o and I don't give a **** about Torres/Ba.

Who gives a **** about what it was supposed to be? Yes, it was supposed to be private and someone recorded it. That's not the big issue here.

Let's see. I'm even more eager to watch tomorrow's game now.

A solid win will make me forget everything.

Wrong. All of it was negative. ALL OF IT. Funny how he blames the media and defends himself (which is normal), cuz media didn't actually make that up. Those were his exact words. So, Media 1 - 0 Jose.

I'm curious what Eto'o and Torres have to say about all of it.

He didn't say it to the press, he said if off the record and they reported it. There's a world of difference there.

You can't say a thing a like that to a random guy as if he was his best buddy or some ****. The issue is that he DID say it, not who he said it to.

Not stabbed from what i have heard but around 8 fans got mobbed by around 30 Gala fans, disgusting fans!

Been hearing lots of different things, it's most likely fake.
Same stories always tend to pop up during games in Turkey, few Chelsea fans that are over there have said they've not seen or heard of anything happening.

It's an interesting situation. There's a small story that is from the wrong sport, but is pretty relevant.

There was an American Footballer called Lawrence Taylor, one of the finest players in his position of all time. In his third season, he was then recognised as the most dangerous player on the pitch. So the opposition began double teaming him to prevent him from playing well.

This was great for his coach, because that took away another defender and left holes in the opposition defensive line. But that coach was clever, and began telling Freeney how he was doubting him. "I got the media coming in here asking me what's wrong with Freeney. What's he doing? Why isn't he playing well? Why isn't he destroying the opposition like he used to?"

Freeney always played with a chip on his shoulder, and when he heard this he was furious. He put in more time, more effort, spent all day in the gym working. Eventually, he had a breakthrough game, obliterating two opposition players again and again. He found his coach in the tunnel after the game and tackled him to the ground, screaming "YOU CAN TELL THE MEDIA FREENEY'S HERE."

Great players don't sit around and cry when they're criticised. They raise their game and prove others wrong. Milan let Pirlo go 'cause they thought he was done. He's still tearing it up. Ferguson let Jaap Stam go, and Stam went on to have an indian summer in Italy. For all we know, it's the same with Eto'o - he's certainly the type - and Mou has previous with this given his relationship with Zlatan was founded on the latter responding to Jose's criticism and then them becoming friends.

I'm not saying this is some grand plan. I'm not even saying it's good that it's happened. What I am saying is that sometimes, these things can work out well, and I don't expect much of a difference at all. Eto'o a pro, after all.

I am very interested in what journalist did this, though. That's a huuuuuge breach of trust, I'd imagine he won't get much work any more.

Lots of things get said to journalists all the time. Much bigger things than this. Normally, a reporter would be idiotic to betray that trust so things said off the record don't come out.

Nail on head.

There's something of an honour code between journalists and managers. Managers say things strictly off the record for journalists to hint at, and in return managers get to keep things out of the papers. Breaking it is very rare and usually results in a huge uproar, because both the manager AND the other journos aren't happy with him about it.

No ... Read his quotes again. He said that the only scorer he has was Eto'o before making a joke about how hard it is to verify the age of African players. It was meant to be a private conversation and not an interview. The media are the ones who are at fault here for breaching his trust and releasing the conversation. Jose has every right to be ****** about that. Eto'o and Jose have a solid relationship built upon a Treble-winning season so I highly doubt some lame joke about age verification in Africa is going to shatter that

Torres and Ba have legitimate reasons to be upset but who gives a ****. It's not like Jose said anything wrong ... Torres will pork anot sulk a bit and not score for a few more games. Nothing new

Thing is, Torres and Ba would have more of a legitimate reason to be upset if they weren't as **** as Jose made them out to be.

Thats exactly the big issue here ... How would you react if someone records a private conversation between you and your friend where you make disparaging remarks about someone and releases it to the public?

Despite being a casual fan of NFL I only know of Lawrence Taylor from watching the Blindside, the opening monologue of him breaking Joe Theismann. <)

Love this and think it so right! Obviously not the same level or anything but i co-manage a sunday league sides of men which is very challenging! But me and the lad that runs it with me know which players to slate to their face to get the best out of them. Was slating one of them last season on the sideline during a game just little playful dig and he gets so ****** off he hits a volley from the halfway line which lobs the keeper, true story.

Don't be surprised to see a Chelsea striker whoever it may be on the scoresheet tomorrow night.

Especially with Jose. His whole press routine is being that Clough like figure who will always give you a story and a fantastic soundbite. Even when he's not being outwardly indulgent to journalists, he's always causing the sort of drama that sells papers. He relies on a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" approach, which is why he struggled so much with the polarised Spanish press.

I'm also intrigued to see why this happened. If it was some enormous scoop that would ensure a huge payoff or something that would be morally justifiable, I could maybe understand. Trashing your own reputation for this though, really?

It's mind boggling, isn't it? Makes me think there's some kind of cloak and dagger business going on. I'll be following this one closely.

Dominant first 30 minutes where we were too wasteful and sloppy to make it 2-0, coming out for the 2nd half and trying to play for a 1-0, not quite pulling it off.

I could be talking about any one of a dozen games this season.

Gutted was just about to cash out my bet aswell when they got the corner **** sky go is a minute or so behind :'(
