It's certainly a clause I would be wary of if I was playing the long game with Courtois. I would want to know how he felt before enforcing it.
 
At the end of the day courtois should know about these clauses if Chelsea ever face atletico whilst he is on loan and if he wants to get the ump so be it. I care more about champions league success than him throwing a strop because they club are going by the rules of his loan plus everybody is going on like we are definitely playing against atletico in the semis.

I would care if his strop makes him reconsider extending his contract or wanting to leave.

I personally don't think he will go as far as wanting to leave Chelsea if all this ends up happening but we will have to wait and see if Chelsea face atletico in the first place. Also seen a story that atletico may offer Diego Costa to Chelsea for a reduced price in the summer if the club allows courtois to play against us without them having to pay a fee.

If one player doesn't make a team then I don't see why we shouldn't let Courtois play the CL semi's going by your logic

Yeah I'm not saying certainly he will throw a strop or anything. I'm just saying worth knowing the full score with him, before the club acts all billy big bollocks over it

Atletico are actuallly the club I am most hoping to avoid with or without Cortouis in goal believe it or not! They are looking great this season and I would rather have to face them in the final then over two legs. Bayern I would prefer the most to draw after how we managed to perform against them in the super cup and also don't know if it's just me but they didn't seem all that great against man utd ( though in all honesty I have only seen highlights from last nights game and didn't watch the full 90)
 
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but our youth team is playing Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup semi's 1st leg in an hour. Could've sworn I saw it advertised to be on ITV3 or 4 but I guess not.

I'd fancy them against you. They would have killed you off in a way that PSG didn't.
 
With the reports coming in that Courtois and Chelsea have opened contract talks, I'm pretty sure he's going to bring it up and I'm also sure out club will work out some other agreement if he's adamant he wants to play. Risking a future Goalkeeper as good as Courtois would be foolish to say the least.

But then again, Emenalo and co. are good at their stuff.

The competitive rivalry, why would you fancy a domestic rival to go ahead in CL? Just casual.

Btw, Bayern - Atletico will be an awful lot of fun as a neutral. And I don't think I'll be able to bear all the Pep vs Jose drama for two legs if we draw them, even though I'd like to face them most among the three left.

Actually, it's nothing of the sort. Your midfield is more pedestrian than it used to be, and is suspect to the heavy aggression of Simeone's midfield, particularly without Matic.
 
Some people actually tend to look at matches for what they are, rather than trivial bias.

Anything I say on that might cross the lines so I'll stop. But yeah, you sure do. [wink]

With Ramires back, I do think we might be vulnerable to pressing as some managers seem to attack him and win the ball as he lacks control and start a quick counter. But Luiz has been immense in midfield, we can do without Matic in CL.

And any midfield would look pedestrian to what we "used to have". Ballack, Essien, Lampard all were immense, not forgetting Makelele.

I think you would do better vs Bayern than Atletico, I worry about their rampant pressing, and running, could make Luiz a liability (see PSG first leg). PSG really blew it against you, they didn't even come out to play, when all they needed was a goal.
