Steve Holland gave an interview last week saying that Lukaku will join up with the CFC squad and will be given a chance to play in friendlies before any decide is made. Seems it's all twitter smoke ... For now
 
I am not really liking the fact that we are probably going to end up entirely reliant on Costa and to a lesser extent on Matic and the FBs keeping fit throughout the season. If Lukaku is sold and Costa ends up injured, we are basically back to square one with Torres leading the line

If Matic gets injured, we will have to turn to Mikel who is far more limited and inferior as a player. If the FBs get injured, our best option is Zouma and Ivanovic who aren't even naturalized FBs

Its a strong starting XI. Squad looks fragile in certain areas. Hope we sort it out before the window shuts
 
Chill, we're going to do something striker wise. This is not the final cut. Some editing should be done.

Also, I'm perfectly fine with Brana being a RB. He's been a beast there, the only weak attribute I can point out would be the crossing. But that can be said about every single player in the squad. We haven't really had a decent crosser recently have we :(

Anyways, let's see the new players in action in a couple of hours.

Thats what we said last summer as well and we ended up getting Samuel ******* Eto ...

Also I think Brana is very good defensively but he is practically useless on the attack. Playing him regularly at FB removes that extra dimension from our attack which will be present whenever Azpilicueta/Luis plays. I suppose we can live with that, I am more worried about our ST situation though

Samuel ******* Eto'o who in the end turned out a pretty good signing and who scored goals and helped us pick up the win in many big games.

I actually wanted to see Sammy stay at the club another year as back up to costa tbh

Last summer is A LOT different to this dude. Jose has calculated what resources he needs to win something major this season. He played it safe last summer with Eto'o. I doubt he will do it again this time.

The thing is, I have literally zero confidence in Torres or Drogba leading the line for an extended period of time which is entirely possible if Costa gets injured or flops which won't be surprising judging by our recent record with strikers. I hope we keep Lukaku but that's looking increasingly unlikely ... I just hope we get in a proper second choice striker if Lukaku leaves
 
Tbh someone like Loic Remy would be a pretty decent striker to have on the bench if Lukaku leaves ...

Thats the thing though ... We all said last summer that we would get a decent striker and we got Samuel Eto'o. We seem to be doing the same with Drogba this summer. I wouldn't want either of them leading the line for an extended period of time although what their experience and winning mentality is obviously invaluable on and off the pitch

Dude last summer we didnt get a proper first choice striker. This summer however we did. Not sure what you're saying. We're just 1 back up short of completing the striking team for next season.

You are assuming that we are adding another striker if Lukaku leaves ... I am not entirely sure we are tbh
