Just watched the two 45minutes despite it now being 05:10 and i'm shattered and back into work tomorrow afternoon! But all that unimportant stuff aside the first 45 i was very impressed, Oscar and Schurrle looked sharp, the back 5 looked as tight as always and the double pivot of Cesc and Matic looked formidable. But sometimes it takes a moment of genius to open the deadlock and boy we got that in Costa's goal! The power, close control and technique was absolutely exquisite and topped off by celebrating with Didier, oh how all of us are hoping we may have found that #9 at last! Loved the 2nd goal, free-kick routines in my eyes are something teams should do more of!
2nd 45 was tough as we did have all the ball but struggled to break a deep lying side down AGAIN! But i actually felt we had some width in Felipe Luis but his final ball was not great so i still stand by my opinion (which has been my opinion for about 18months now) that we lack a proper "chalk on your boots, beat your man and get to the byline" winger. All our attacking midfielders love to play on their weaker side and come inside onto their stronger foot to find a pass or take it on themselves.
Overall i'm quite content with what i saw tonight over the 90minutes except from us conceding from another set-piece! 90 more minutes on Sunday (which i will miss again due to work) and then Sociadad which i expect to see Jose's starting 11 for Burnley a week later start the game and one i will be attending myself!
