Eh, I'm not entirely sure, but it's well known that in La Liga players are better protected than in England. Probably doesn't translate quite as well for players like Costa mind.
 
Finally back from the game and just watched the highlights too and i was highly impressed from what i saw tonight. Firstly i was massively annoyed with the man who stole a lorry in Portsmouth and burnt it out causing massive delays which forced me to miss the players being introduced to the fans!

But on the game itself just 57 seconds into his first game in blue at the Bridge and Diego Costa is netting one right in front of me i really couldn't have asked for more! I felt the tempo was very quick early on, our passing was crisp and our ball retention was far better than it has been. We also used the wings a lot even Ivanovic putting in good crosses and i must say Ake has had a very good pre-season and i believe he is easily good enough to be back-up left back for us going forward.

Although the game fizzled out a little bit after the two goals we always looked in control which is good considering the amount of changed we made. I said all along that which ever keeper played this friendly tonight is Jose's #1 and although he had very little to save his commanding of his area and distribution is second to none and like Cech i think we will enjoy seeing Courtois. One man i want to single out in general although he didn't play much tonight was Van Ginkel, i think he has had a very good pre-season and the absolutely crunching but fair tackle he put in on the half way line towards the end of the game made me as excited as i was when Costa scored. He has put in a couple of excellent very strong challenges in pre-season which shows mentally he is over that injury and i think he will feature quite heavily this season.

Loved it tonight and took my youngest brother to his first game and he is now 100% hooked as i knew he would be. I feel we are more than ready for Monday night, the team looks arguably stronger than it ever has done and i cannot wait for it all to kick off again!

Personally think refs in England are far less lenient on dirty tactics such as winding up an opponent or diving and costa is one of the dirtiest players around
 
Don't worry Carl you wernt the only one who missed the players being introduced I also did because of work! Feel sorry for the fans who got in the ground around 10-15 minutes into the game who missed both goals tbh haha

He won't get away with what he did in Spain over here. That is for sure.

There was a few times i saw he did something which he has to be very careful with. When the ball was coming towards him and a defender aerially he tended to turn and look at the defender quickly before the ball came to them. Now if he even accidently catches someone in the PL after doing that then it could be seen as him doing it with intent and he would walk.

Both Mourinho and more importantly his agent deny there is any kind of concrete interest. Jose says he wants to integrate Zouma et al, and his agent says its not happening and that he is likely to stay at Roma.

Still time for that to change, but sounds more unlikely than not.

Yeah I just saw the quotes. I am quite skeptical of this deal myself. We are well stocked in the CB department with Ivanovic, Terry, Zouma and Cahill. Also if we get Benatia then we would be exceeding our foreign player quota and it will be tricky to resolve that without severely weakening another area of our squad

Lets see though, I am personally hoping for a striker. One knee injury to Costa and we are back to square one ...

Benatia is a great defender, but at £30m, doesnt make much sense for Chelsea. Especially with your quota issues.

I was thinking that he was being brought in to eventually replace Terry but issue with the quota still present either way ... We would have to sell/loan Mikel or Salah which wouldn't be wise imo
 
We don't need a new cb when you look at what we currently have. As had already been said already terry, Cahill, zouma and Ivanovic in first team and then there's also kalas and Christensen with bags of potential. chalobah and ake can also be played at centre back if need be.

If Chelsea feel the need to spend £30m anywhere, it should be on a forward.
 
Managed to get 30mil for Cech on an FM save I'm doing. Feels like the right time to let him go.
