Correct me if im wrong but wasnt Mikel originally a 10? At least thats where he played during the Youth Championships in 2005

He certainly has moments which would suggest what you are saying is true. My memory doesn't serve me well when it comes to Mikel's youth days.

He also plays in a more advanced role for Nigeria.

@TheatreofDreams Chelsea will definitely drop points somewhere along the road. For now I hope we can get past a so far impressive Swansea with 3 points.

Yes he was before Mourinho converted him into a defensive midfielder. He is solid depth but nothing more

It's worth pointing out that Matic also used to play as an AM, which is why the comparison works so well.

Thanks to Luiz and Lukaku we are actually on a 800k profit this summer. Who would have thought.

Regardless of what happens on deadline day, Chelsea have easily had the best transfer window out of all the big clubs imo. Massively improved our squad at minimal cost. Mourinho is absolutely swimming in cash now. I wouldn't be surprised to see us go aggressively after Pogba and Destro next summer

Petr Cech looks set to move and has been offered to London EPL clubs. That will only further boost the profits in this transfer window

Woody may be going around slamming his **** on the table but it's Emeleano who has proven himself to he the shrewdest operator in the transfer market this year

I actually thought Courtois was quite sluggish last game, distribution was poor handed possession straight back to Everton on few occasions (did make a great save to make up for it on one occassion), could of been costly though. Maybe keeping Petr Cech should be thought about because I don't rate Mark Schwarzer and Courtois needs to keep on his toes.

Its his first few games in the EPL and it was a high intensity match. One questionable match doesn't change the fact that he had been beyond brilliant for 3 seasons with Atletico Madrid. Yes he will take time to settle as De Gea did but the talent and ability is unquestionable. It's unfair on us to make Cech sit on the bench and Schwarzer is very experienced and will be a good back up in the unlikely scenario that Courtois flops

We don't want to sell Cech, he wants to leave. Very important distinction.

Courtois' distribution was very sloppy last game: he was partly to blame for us being unable to kill the game off, just needed to slow things down a little. It's something Mourinho will train out of him fairly quickly though.

Still early doors gents. Courtois and Cech are both immense between the sticks, but it looks like Courtois will be first choice this season. Can't blame Cech for wanting regular football, he deserves to star in a good team, but I hope he doesn't go permanent.
This team is crazy good though, anything we seem to consider as a problem is quite trivial really. imo

Only worry really is depth for Fabreas. If Fabregas can remain fit throughout the whole season, we should do very well

true, we don't have another player as refined as he. but we have enough options to make that less of a problem than it might be for other teams.

It's a lot better to have your deals sorted out in time, rather then leaving it till the last possible moment. A lot of panic buys, and inflated prices are a regular thing in the DD. Need i mention a certain Fernando? (Yes he was still good at that time, but not 50M good).

The way Mourinho and Emeleano have attacked the market is absolutely fantastic. We massively improved our squad and yet made a profit. The amount of reserve cash we have now is staggering. I can't wait to see who we go after in January/next summer

Perfect blend of pace and power in the squad. Quality players in every position with solid if unspectacular depth. Imagine if Mourinho can recreate the footballing machine of the 04/05 and 05/06 days ... Surely a pipe dream?

Assuming players stay in form, and avoid long time injuries, I don't think we need to do anything till next summer. The only "problematic" position, if you can call it that, is the CB. But that should only concern us starting next year. Hope JT keeps it up for a few more years.
Do we have anyone for cover other than Zouma, and moving Ivanovic?
