Do Chelsea normally publish their own articles like this?

Nope. I have no idea why they did it after the Burnley game but nonetheless, they were just relaying the opinions of others so can't fault them

As for the Barnes thing, it could be the case that he was just attempting a pass and caught Matic accidentally, but having watched Barnes play for Brighton many times in the past I wouldn't put it past him in leaving that leg in on Matic intentionally, because he is a dirty player and he always did like a red card or two.

That I can get on board with. I'm not going to entirely rule out that Barnes extended his foot a bit or whatever to meet Matic's leg more accurately. That's definitely in the realm of possibility. But the ref cannot act on basis that hey, this guy has been a **** in the past, so lets book him just in case. Ref's job is to determine a vile intent and whether the play was dangerous. So in that sense I don't see that as punishable offense.

hate chelsea but have to admit the ref yesterday was a disgrace how ashley barnes never got sent of i will never know

I can't quite believe Chelsea have appealed the red card given to Matic as they now risk it being judged as a frivolous appeal and adding an extra game to ban

Although the reaction can be justified, it also had to be a sending off

IIRC they have removed it and fast tracked the appeal. So clubs can't appeal and field the player like before, decision will be made before match day.

Pretty hilarious to try and appeal it, but I guess anything to fuel the claims that there's campaign against the team that's leading the table with 5 points points in the clear.

Quite impressive that Mourinho had to battle versus organised ref and media conspiracy working against him in Portugal, Italy, Spain and England, and still somehow managed to secure major trophies in every country. Conspirators in entire Europe are very **** at their job, I guess.

FA confirms there would be no retrospective punishments on Barnes as the officials had seen the incident.

So Atkinson saw the leg breaker and decided that it wasn't worth anything.

With a buy back option.

Btw what's the fee? 10 plus Million?

I have only seen one rumoured fee from a journo on Twitter which was around € 8 million. Whatever the fee is I'm sure it is a healthy profit seeing as he was only signed for a few hundred thousand back around the same time when we signed Eden.

Seeing reports that the Hazard fee was around £6 million, which like you said is around €8 million. Shame to see him go but I suppose it's another bit of profit towards the war chest.

Thorgan Hazard:

Bought for £500,000

Spent 37 days at Chelsea

Played 1 game for the U21s

Sold for £6m today... LOL!

Looks like Jose doesn't have any problem with tackle/accident on Matic.

Mikel's tackle is hard and aggressive but football is for men or for women with fantastic attitude. It's true."
The Chelsea manager added: "There are other sports without contact, fantastic sports which demand a lot from the players, and I respect those sports full of big champions. But [there is] no contact. Football is a game of contact. English football, winter, water on the pitch, sliding tackles at fantastic speed … Be proud. Play with pride. If you are hurt, OK, you are hurt. If you have pain … well, I have pain every day and I work every day."

Still a better deal than letting him go on a free, and probably spending 70-80 mil. Euros to get him back. Yes, I am talking about Pogba.
I'm sorry, but United don't have history of selling players on cheap and then buying them back for large amounts. Chelsea, however, do.
