Jose really isn't pulliing his weight in CL last few years, not like he used to. Anyone remember Nani's red card vs. Madrid? Pretty much similar situation, and similar game, except they painfully managed to go through. Then last year he barely scraped past PSG and played way too conservative vs. Atleti in Madrid, only to be hammered by away goals at home. This year, same thing.

Seriously, you can tell me all you want about how paying very rigid usually pays off in the big time. But why doesn't he just go for the jugular when playing 11 vs. 10 for 90 minutes, especially at home when one goal can **** up everything. You have man advantage and this much time, you should try to kill the game. Its a no brainer to me.

Almost all teams plays the same way in big ties except Barca and Bayern. Those 2 teams play their game no matter what and apart from them all big teams play conservative and cautious game in KOs.

He made semi finals 4 times in a row IIRC, his opponents were Barca, Bayern, Dortmund and Atletico. Not a bad record but it can be said bad because 3 of them with Madrid where they expect to win every game and spend huge money.

Also even with Inter he was very lucky in CL, they were mins away from going out in group stages and out of nowhere Sneijder saved him. Before that season with Inter he lost round of 16 against ManUtd and didn't even score a goal in 2 games.

I love Mourinho, and hope he stays at Chelsea until the day he retires, but he has to stop treating every big game with this defensive mentality. You will never be a big team, if you don't act like one. Last night we were the little horse once again.

Personally I believe he is under a lot of pressure to win trophies, and that is the reason why he is resorting to these tactics.
It's like he said it to the players a few years back. No pressure to win, but we cannot lose. I'd rather see use lose a game, but giving it all, than trying to squeeze something out of every game. He proved it numerous times that he is capable of this.

Similar situation with me last night on FM. My opposition went down to 10 men so I went for the attack. Makes sense.

By the way don't ask what the score finished cos I ******* hate the game its ****.

Just seen on SSN Cesc stats for assists and goals 1st half of the season compared to the second half over the last 6 yrs. Wow never noticed tbh but the drop off each season is staggering, defo not a second half season player. Also remember when he left Barc that Pep said that was one of the reasons he was sold, as the drop off in performance 2nd half of season is a problem.

I think cesc needs a few games on the bench. Performances have dropped since Christmas.

Have people actually looked at the games he's played since XMas?

Tottenham: No one played well.
Newcastle: Played really well.
Swansea: Again, played really well.
Both Liverpool games: Can't complain really.
Bradford and Everton: Only played for 20 mins in each but was pretty bad
Both PSG games: Underwhelming, but with a caveat. He spent much of those two games in the AMC role, with Ramires behind him. Like I said last night, he's always going to get crushed by PSG's midfield 3 when Ramires is playing.
Tottenham again: Played very well.
West Ham: Played alright.

So that's what? 1 bad game, 2 bad games where he played for 20 mins, 2 games where he was played in a suboptimal position. A couple of alright performances and a couple of good ones. That doesn't sound especially damning, does it? Give him a game or two off, and play him back in the pivot and I expect to see him back to his best.

It's not just this season, it's been like that even in his Arsenal days. My friend said to me when Fabregas was sold to Chelsea that he will drop off after March like he always did. I gave him stern look and question his sanity. But it's true unfortunately. Is it lack of fitness? Could be.

That whole Fabregas theory has confirmation bias written all over it.

Terry marking cahill and trampling over oscar to get to the ref is still pure gold.

This topic came up months ago, and when i actually researched it properly he was either injured more in the 2nd part of seasons or played far less minutes.
Not what SSN was saying earlier. They said in some of his seasons at Barca he had more injuries at the start. Defo not a coincidence imo. Especially when his manager has said as much.

Gave it nearly 24 hours before i commented properly on the game last night because i wanted to first of all forget it happened and also see other peoples reactions.

We were 2nd best there is absolutely no doubt about it, for a side to go down to 10 men at the Bridge and triumph they need the up most praise. When watching the game i was browsing on Twitter and Facebook obviously there was a lot of comment about why we didn't seem to attack. There was a lot of angry views towards Jose during and after the game because of this but i actually saw it a different way during the game. Whist PSG were on top and we didn't look like we wanted to attack they created 1 real good chance and that came when they hit us on the counter attack from our corner not when they had all that possession. I feel we did have complete control of the game despite not having the ball but what did annoy me was that when we did get the ball forward Costa wasted it time and time again giving the ball away which is something i have been thinking for a little while now.

But as i said if i can go back to my point quickly we were in defensive control of the tie. Would it have been nice to score, yes obviously but my feeling at the time was that if we did score that would spur PSG on even more and they would throw caution to the wind and attack far more in greater numbers which is exactly what happened. Obviously i couldn't say "we would have gone through if we never scored 1st" because that we will never know, but in my opinion is that it never helped us. I also believe not playing at the weekend and having a week off hindered us and not for the first time this season. I think this is a side which plays so close to the edge and to keep themselves "up for it" they need to play every 3 days. There is also question marks about Fabregas's and Costa's form since January and there is no doubt both's form has dipped.

But even will all of them things considered above how poor we were, having a full week off, key players out of form we still nearly went through!!!! The past 20 odd hours have been hard with so many opposition supporters gloating which hurts. But the fact the whole of the footballing world has seemed to have some sort of party over this just shows we are doing what we need to do! As i keep saying we need to stick together, form overall has been average lately but i still have no doubts that we will right our wrongs and win the league.

Win or lose up the blues!!!!!!

Sometimes what SkySports say is not gospel by the way lol. This may shock you.
