As much as I agree Chelsea and Arsenal do need to make signings I think match fitness or lack thereof played as big a part as anything at the weekend.

We will see. But even the pundits were saying the same thing about Chelsea and Mou not bringing in any signings as yet. Window still open mind.

Yeah I think nearly everyone agrees that we need new signings. But that doesn't mean we are suddenly a bad team. This same team won the EPL at a canter last season and it's managed by a world-class manager. Also our response after going down to 10 men was fantastic. Real desire in the players to get 3 points even at this early stage of the season. The mentality is still that of champions with real leaders on the pitch. No other team can match that atm

Oh I know mate. Still a very good team, but even though you won the league pretty easy your end of season form just after new year was not great. Mou is one of the best for sure! But you cant stand still for 1 season no matter how good a team you are.

Yes we know that. It's been said multiple times on this thread. I am just not sure how you can somehow relate that to one mediocre performance on opening day

Because we're relating the opening day to about two dozen very mediocrre performances in the second part of last season. And with your squad basically remaining the same...well. Cant' keep trying the same thing and expect different results.

As it is, you lot remind me of late-Ferguson United. Excellent mentality and team that's willing to work their socks off, but 100% dependant on one player to do the magic. Whether that will be enough in arguably the strongest league in many years, I have my doubts.

Add the fact that Mourinho's recent antics could point out that his 3rd season syndrome is well in the oven, and it doesn't look good.

Antics? Yes, it was wrong for him to publicly criticise Eva but I wouldn't read into it. As usual Jose's simply deflecting. Mourinho's just signed a new four-year contract with us, which suggests (At least to me) that he's still committed to the club.

Where would he possibly go?

He's done the major European Leagues in Spain, Germany and Italy. Been a winner in his own Country. There's no other English club he'd ever manage.

Outside of maybe the Portuguese National job (And I think that would bore the living **** out of him not having the day-to-day contact); I don't see any challenge left.

Chelsea will probably be his last stop yer think?

I see where you are coming from. Tbf a lot of the mediocre performances in the second half of last season were due to fatigue, loss of form and injuries to key players etc.

Come on now, he can't be reflecting the pressure towards his own staff. That doesn't help anybody. And I didn't mean to suggest he was leaving, but he seems a lot more nervous than he usually is. The whole thing with Rafa's wife didn't look very good either, you don't go telling other people's wifes to go into the kitchen, even if 99% of Chelsea fanbase thought it was hilarious banter.

Wouldn't be surprised. For whatever reason, board hasn't released funds for Jose to strengthen. Key targets haven't been acquired. It looks like a tough season ahead

Juventus still retain an interest in Cuadrado. I wouldn't mind selling him at all. It will force the boards hand to strengthen and bring in a proper world-class AM to complement Hazard hopefully

He could go to bayern...he would look forward to winning the league at all top leagues...I can see it...

Guardiola leaving at the end of the season, mou getting sacked due to going trophyless then before we know it, mou is the manager of bayern

Man, I don't know HOW I had him down as already managing in Germany. *Takes foot out of mouth.

Thank you. As soon as I read 'Bayern' that glaring error hit me. Yeah, that's just about the only other club 'challenge' I could see. If you even call Bayern and the way they financially bully every other German team s challenge. But then Jose has been very smart in only stepping into those situations more or less right through his career.

I really doubt he will be sacked even if he goes through a trophyless season. Club has stabilized massively and they know the repercussions of sacking another manager. They just gave him a huge contract extension (first time ever in the Roman era)

Thats a somewhat unfair characterization. He went to Inter when their team was ageing and he brought them the treble. He went to Madrid when they were up against a mighty Barcelona side who were crushing everyone in their path

Possibly, but you never know with Abramovich. As Legend said he could move to Bayern but as good as Jose is I honestly don't believe Bayern would want him. Personally I think Klopp will takeover from Guardiola. Another option is PSG and as for the national job, that'll definitely be the last IMO. But for the moment Mourinho's biggest challenge is winning the CL with Chelsea.

Come on now? I agreed with you on the whole Eva issue. Mourinho doesn't seem nervous but he certainly seems frustrated at the moment, which you can understand given how slow we've been in the transfer window and our recent performances. However I don't believe 99% of the Chelsea fanbase thought the whole Rafa situation was 'hilarious banter', in fact a lot of Chelsea fans happen to agree with what you've said, but as we all know there's no love lost between Chelsea fans and Benitez so it was more of a 'we couldn't give a s**t' attitude towards the whole ordeal.
