hmmmm.....Defensive positioning is for me an illussion. Now I tell you why!
I have tried this to and it seems like you will create more chances - I'm not exactly sure why it is like this, but it is. However what I see in difference between Attacking movement and defensive positioning is the shot amount on target - it seems like using defensive positionimg you will decrease your amount of shots on target (Inside the goal frame) than when you use attacking movement where it looks like you increase shots inside the frame - where the goalkeeper needs to save it
Shots alltogether it seems like defensive positioning win by a mile - No quality though
I have not analyzed Teamwork in this.
Defensive positioning acts wonderfully when keeping opponent to a low amount of shots which leads to a high amount of clean sheets for a better team. I was playing one of the best teams in the world in my game due to my former management of Middlesbrough in the Champions league final with Barcelona. I had my training on Defensive positioning - Middlesbrough had 0 chances against my 15-20 chances. Result at 90 minutes was 0-0 I ended up losing the final on penalty. Their is a screenshot of this in either Gooaall262 or This very thread I believe.
Conclusion to this is i feel its very important what match training you choose - where others only think it matters little.
