With a created team, I had promotion odds of 5000-1, but I did have a much higher wage budget than you do.

Those are impressively high odds :D Did you get promoted that season? As you say though, it's the wage budget which is the killer. I'm 150 quid over the 2k limit right now and my board won't sanction any more signings. No-one wants my cast-offs so I'm kind of stuck til some of the contracts expire or unless I get a very excellent cup run to boost the finances exceptionally high. Could do with getting to the 3rd round of the FA cup and drawing the Mancs at Old Trafford :D

Would suggesting the board find more parent clubs help make some cash for the team?

That's a good idea for increasing pre-season friendly income, but my attendances are so poor I'm not sure it will help a great deal right now. If I get my attendances up to more than 110 people for midweek matches over the course of this season, I'll certainly take your advice. :)

I really love reading this Simon , keep it up :D!

I recently started a new career with Blue Square North side Farsley Celtic and i was astonished to find 3 of my youth team better than most of my first team. They are all coming along really nice with being the top scorer and the other top asister.

So check your youth if you haven't already , good luck!

Cheers Lew. Bognor's youth team has one player who looks promising - Mark Jones a 16 year old MC (was 15 when I took over). But he's not great, just a useful squad player and he got moved to the first team squad straight away due to me not having many players at all. The rest really are not much use, although I have a youth keeper as my reserve keeper because there isn't anybody else and I have played a right winger from the youth team when everyone else has been injured...

The new youth players who come in every summer are one of the best parts of Lower League management. In my 9.2 Newport game, I actually got a central defender who my coaches rated as Premier league standard in potential and league two standard in current ability - it was like winning the lottery for a BSP team. :D

Good luck with Farsley :)

I'm having a go at Bognor. I would have lived with a 2k wage limit if I had nothing to start with at the start, escpecially overpaid idiots who want <£100 wages, don't they inderstand the club's current situation?

Anyway, started OK, first two pre season games weren't in charge, got a draw and a win anyway. First game in charge, lost 1 nil to Portmadown or whatever, but were expected to be thrashed, same against Burton Albion, and we duly lost 3-0. Next game against Brighton, expected to lose by around 10 nil or something, playing with normal tactics, lost 4-2, not bad.
Next game was excellent for us, won 5 nil against Aylesbury, Awuah got 2 and an assist, we also got 2 pens. But before the start of the league campaign, looked at finances, £800 in the red, and have losses of £8k, not good, got rid of one player for no compensation, weren't gonna be needing him. Trying to sell a few more, probably won't. Hopefully they'll walk out of their own accord.

Thinking of trying to sell Danny Smith, the MC, would get a couple of K, and save wages, could also get rid of Awuah, and save £180 a week.

Guess what? 2 of those overpaid idiots score on their league debuts, with a youth MC also pitching in for a 3-0 home drubbing of Newport County, 3 goals in the last 10 minutes, ****** brilliant.

The key to victory is to get your corner tactics right, borrow the tactics used in this thread - http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/f59/my-man-utd-in-patch-9-3-0-t12068.html like I did, should start banging them in.

On my Bognor Game, McEnery has a passing rating of 7, whilst on your's he's only 2. Hmm

Well the season eventually finished with me finishing in twelfth in the league. Which was a very creditable performance as six of the last eight league games were played with major technical problems and jumpy glitches without being able to actually see the matches...

Having fixed the technical problems, I was so fed up with the game, I deleted the thing. Which has meant me having to start again. Which is just as well as I've discovered today that the team talk messages mean something totally different to previous incarnations of the game. Seriously - who'd have thought that setting a team talk to 'none' meant that you thought the player had performed adequately but not well or poorly?! Or that 'for the fans' in fact meant 'do a professional job'? Which has kind of flummoxed me even more as I'm positive now that my teams have been grossly underperforming as a result and would explain a lot of odd things I'd been seeing with regards to specific individual performances. Ho-hum.

I've also been playing around with my tactics and would like to experiment with a few tweaks to the Benitez variant. Primarily this is a result of noticing that 9.3 favours the short passing game a tad too much but as there won't be another patch I figure I'd like to see Bognor playing like Brazil :D

Huge thanks for the comments lads and I hope that should I decide to do something similar in the future it will at least last a bit longer.
