First Season :

English Western League First Division : 1st
FA Vase : 1st Round Replay
Les Phillips Cup : First Round (Penalties)
Somerset Premier Cup : Second Round (Extra-Time)

Season Review :

We were predicted to finish bottom of the league and get nowhere in any of the cups at the start of the season and as I struggled to bring the club up to our current leagues standard it seemed that we weren't going to prove anybody wrong. The season started decently with a 2-1 away win, a 1-1 home draw and a 4-1 home win against one of the supposedly 'big boys' in the league, Roman Glass St. George. A 2-0 home win against Gillingham Town. a 1-0 away win against Berks County Sports in the FA Vase and a 1-1 away draw with the biggest side in the league, Chard Town. Seems great doesn't it? But it couldn't even keep going to the end of September. On the 23/09/09 we lost 2-0 at home to a not very good Almondsbury UWE side. Maybe we could pick it up on the 26th at home to one of the bottom sides in the league? Cadbury Heath got off their crappy coach and whooped us 5-1 in front of our own (very few) fans. Worcester Park put us out of the FA Vase after a replay, we drew 0-0 at home against 20th placed Keynsham, lost 2-1 away to Devizes Town and 1-0 away to Shepton Mallet. Things couldn't of been going much worse. Our local squad were *****, my signings were *****, my staff were ***** and I was beginning to think I was ***** to.
We scraped a win against Westbury in the Les Phillips Cup Qual. Round with an extra time goal, 0-0 draw with Oldland Abottanians, 3-2 away loss to Portishead T, a 2-1 away extra-time loss to Bristol Manor Farm in the Somerset Premier Cup and 1-0 away loss to Bradford T. Everything was failing, I was failing and coming only just above our media expectation in mid November. What was I going to do? Some serious changes had to made at Odd Down so..I put every player on the current squad onto the reserves and signed in a whole new team. But could it work? Would it work? Did it work? Answer those questions for yourself. My newly built team hammered Hengrove 6-0, a 2-0 win over Westbury. We got knocked out of the Les Phillips Cup in the first round on penalties but I didn't care. We were on fire. We won 7 league games in a row before being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Shrewton Utd. Could it be the start of a fall? Nope. We won our next 3 matches, lost 2 in a row and won 4 in a row. We had a few horrific results including a 5-0 loss to Bridport but we struggled on and won the league by 8 points. I was ecstatic, to win the league when we were predicted to come bottom of the leage. Yeah it was a **** season with a lot of pain involved in it and playing horrible football on horrible pitches in a worthless pub league. But we made it, we made it to level 9. To the Western Premier. Michael Coady really deserves praise for his role, getting

Second Season :

English Western League Premier Division : 1st
FA Cup : Second Qualifying Round
FA Vase : First Round
Les Phillips Cup : Semi-Final

Season Review :

What can I say? I was simply blown away by how well we did compared to last season. We couldn't have done any better in the league :

View attachment 47670

As you can see from the table, we went unbeaten in the league and only drew six games winning the rest. We got 102 points while 2nd place managed to get 67 points.

Main First Team squad players :

David Grof
_Image.aspx

This guy is going to go far, very far. He joined a fair bit into the season to replace outgoing Welsh keeper Andy Marriott. Grof immediately beat Ashley Bayes in a battle to be first choice keeper. The amazing young Hungarian got 22 appearances, conceding 6 goals and getting 16 clean sheets. After playing for Hibernian and Headington A's before joining us, the 22 year old keeper already has 8 youth caps and could be a future star at a much higher level.

Ashley Bayes
12.jpg

Bayes started the season as our first choice keeper after being brought in to replace Richardson. Bayes who has years of lower league experience in the English leagues. He played for Brentford, Torquay, Exeter, Leyton Orient and one of my favourite clubs, Bohemians (top team in Ireland), Woking, Hornchurch, Grays, Crawley and Stevenage before joining us. The 39 year old, experienced keeper got 18 appearances for us, conceding 8 goals and getting 11 clean sheets. The keeper was definately well above average for us but was moved to the subs bench when the talented, young Hungarian David Grof arrived. Now that Bayes is not starting he has decided to call it a day and has announced his retirement date.

Rob Gier
Aldershot12077gallery.jpg

The talented,3 times capped Fillipino right full back joined the club half way through the 2009/2010 season and was in top class form in the 19 appearances he got. Being 29 everyone expected his form to drop slightly next season with the rise of competition but the determined Fillipino did the exact opposite. He got 29 appearances and brought his form up to the best of his career. Gier was at Wimbledon for years at the start of his career before moving on to Rushden, Cambridge, Woking, Aldershot,Grays, Ascot and Odd Down.

William Quevedo
FootballImage9110.jpg

William Quevedo started his career at Rodez Aveyron Football before moving on to ASOA Valence, Moreinse, Boavista, FC Sochaux-Montbe, FC Sete 34, back to Rodez Aveyron Football, Onet-Le-Chateau and Odd Down. On arriving at Odd Down, Quevedo was predicted to walk onto the first team but due to his age and lack of fitness he only got 23 appearances for the club. In those 23 appearances however his performances were quality and his experience really showed. Quevedo stated that he believes it is time for him to step aside and let younger players take the reigns so he has announced his retirement date.

Bradley Middleton

Bradley Middleton is a 22 year old defender left/centre who started his career with Cardiff. Middleton was decent on the youth team but never got a first team appearance so he moved on to Weston-super-Mare. He was dissapointed when he wasn't given any first team oppurtunities at Weston either so he moved on to Bridgewater in the Southern League where he got 21 appearances. He then moved to Odd Down on a free where for parts of the season was a key centre back getting 23 appearances for the club.

Joel Adegoroye

Joel Adegoroye is a 20 year old centre back who played for two season on the Stade Rennais academy and has 10 youth caps for Nigeria. Adegoroye arrived late in the season so only got 21 appearances for the club but is now rated as the clubs key defender. He is rated by O'Leary as one of the top wonderkids at Odd Down.

In 2010/2011 season he was one of the central figures on the Odd Down team, getting 35 appearances. He is now going to be competing with Bradley Middleton to join Joel Adegoroye in centre back.

Patrick Dillon

Patrick Dillon is a 20 year old right full back who started his career with Cliftonville before moving to Linfield on a free. The young Northern Irish full back then moved to Odd Down on a free to become a back up to Rob Gier and was quality in the 25 appearances he got even though he was often played out of position on the right wing.

Fan Scope :

'I can't believe it, simply can't believe it! I've been a Down fan for 45 years and we've always been in that ****** little pub league of a Western League. The best we've done is get into the Western Premier a few times and now some random Irish lad comes along and gets us back to back promotions. We're now at our highest ever standing in football and looking like going higher! Can't believe it, just can't believe it! WHEN THE DOWN GO MARCHING IN, I WANNA BE IN THEIR NUMBER!' John Smith, season ticket holder.
