still has a lot to learn, and will need the guidance from rio and vidic. Rio is still a much better defender than him

The shifts that Smalling, Wilshire put in during games is amazing, it really is. Puts some of the better players in the Prem to shame sometimes. I'm really looking forward to seeing them play a few years down the line, especially Wilshire. But they both look fantastic prospects for the international scene in a few years, along with Rodwell

that game went like every game against united, notice how we stand off you a fair amount, no point chasing you. united were fairly comforttable defending you only lost a man in the 84 minute to be honest

Yeah it seems that Arsenal is not too hard to defend against, you just compress the pitch in the final third. They can't score with a lot of bodies back there. ManU defends very well as a team. And they're great on the counter. So they match up perfectly against Arsenal and will probably win again at the Emirates. But all in all I thought Arsenal played well until the end when Djorou had to leave...does anyone know how he got hurt? I didn't have commentary. Looked like maybe a dislocated shoulder or back injury or something like that.

i want united to sign wilshere because he always puts in his best but he cant win trophies at arsenal

Hes been the first team for not even a full season yet and your saying he 'cant' win trophies at Arsenal, he was 90 minutes away from winnning one and still had a very good chance of winning one this year, so how you've come to the conclusion he 'can't' win trophies at Arsenal is beyond me.

Arsenal really need Walcott, he is always increasing speed on Arsenal game and analising these last weeks, i realised that he is extremely important, after is sent off Arsenal didn´t won again (only Leyton Orient)

Denilson just doesn't do the same job that Song does, and Arsenal look more vulnerable to the counter attack as a result. It really boils down to Arsenal not having a strong plan B. United can play in games where we dominate possession and use the width, or defend in numbers and play more direct on the counter. Arsenal seemed more willing to get the ball wide and cross it when Chamakh came on, and it created a great chance near the end....it's just not an option when RVP is playing and they are too predictable as a result. It was a great cup tie though and Arsenal were quite unlucky to come up against an in form 'keeper and centre back partnership

Wilshere has a bit of an attitude for such a young player, but I think it will serve him well in the future if he stays at Arsenal. They need a real 'leader' figure in the mold of Adams and Veira and I think he can fill that.

Not to mention he's a fantastic player too.

I dont know what to say really... VDS what a game, atleast another season...
And Striker please wenger? Some1 who will finish all the chances we created...

I agree, but Diaby was the big problem for me.

He simply doesn't understand the "Cesc Role", and handed the midfield battle to Utd by being positionally indisciplined and dawdling on the ball.

We are ridiculously unlucky at times.

Diaby dribbles when he should pass, passes when should shoot and shoots when he should dribble.
Decision making is something he really needs to work on.

Had been watching the game on a cra*py stream because something is wrong with my TV and even missed out on Rooney's goal! It was a typical Man Utd vs Arsenal game with us conceding possession and then kill Arsenal off with our counter attacks. I thought we lacked a bit of penetration in the first half, but that was expected with Gibson and O'Shea as our CMs. They played well tonight though, and I'm actually quite happy that I don't have to shout at Gibson again. Fabio and Rafael, wow, the way they play with each other is amazing. I hope they will stay in Man Utd for a long time and able to fulfill their potentials. Such a joy to watch.

Our back four is as reliable as ever with Smalling looking better and better each game while the oldest player on the pitch (VDS!) had a blinder. And Rooney is slowly but surely getting back into form. 6 goals in the past 8 games or something similar to that is saying a lot. His tackle on Sagna was brilliant too! Chicharito was unlucky not to have scored but I'm sure he will be putting them into the back of the net soon again. Valencia is a player sorely missed by us and his play is still as good as ever.

looks like a bad shoulder. Real real shame, he's been very good this season, could be out fr the season, and that could end his season

Dude, that's sick! XD Valencia looked like he has been playing for months, very pleasing to see him back

Didn't see the match. Well done United though, saw off a relatively strong Arsenal side.

Arsene gave Diaby the 'Cesc role'? What the **** was he thinking? Ramsey was on the bench IIRC, and past Rosicky (who I am a great fan of, but even I admit that he's not been up to scratch exactly) he's the only one who really understands the 'Cesc role' apart from Wilshere, and Wilshere is far more effective in the double pivot. Bit of a tactical gaffe there.

To be fair we didnt have a full strength team out niether did they..We probably has the slightly stronger side but we was missing the likes of Tommy V, Walcott, and Fabregas.

It's amazing that ITV continue to give Clive Tyldesley Manchester United games despite the fact that he is a fan of the club.

Thought Arsenal would give when I saw the team sheets but Manchester United seemed to contain them quite easily. They were quite happy to just sit in the box and let Arsenal tap it around with a delivery usually coming from the flanks which United's defence were more than happy to deal with. Having the Brazilian twins on the flanks offered protection for the fullbacks and Rooney dropping back to help hassle the Arsenal midfield was very useful. Having Hernandez and those 3 made it perfect for Manchester United to counter attack especially through the flanks due to Arsenal's fullbacks eagerness to get forward.

As stated above, Denilson and Diaby aren't capable of covering for Fabregas and Song. I thought Diaby was poor all game. Really didn't expect Manchester United to progress though. RVP was left isolated upfront.

He clearly didn't think Ramsey was fit enough, which is disappointing. He's the only one who can do it for me, Wilshere can't atm. It's a very specific role, rather than just playing behind the striker, which is why Nasri isn't even that good there.

Agree completely.

I'd say Nasri is the best player for that role and will get it when Fabregas leaves. It's a shame for Arsenal that Walcott isn't fit. SAF once again got his tactics spot on, he always seems to against Arsenal!
