I don't see what is so uncommon about this. 4-4-2 with midfield diamond (so 4-1-2-1-2) where fullbacks are brought up to wingbacks, which I do myself in every game I play.

And I don't really think that it is possible to get your defence work very differently to the usual way. Maybe you could post a video how the defence works in a game? Or possibly player instructions for centre backs and defensive midfielder.

ok thanks for your feedback

the reason i called it uncommon is because I don't think you can really find any downloadable formations of its type

In terms of the defense, I'd say the best way to give feedback on that is by trying it yourself. Thats also why i want feedback to see if other people notice it is different from other defensive instruction, and work effectively and consistantly as it has for me

Ive updated the images in the OP again

Still no feedback though....

Well, I maybe even download this tactic IF it has a defensive system that works very well or somehow differently. But I want to see it first, it simply takes very much time to make a new save and test a tactic.

Still no feedback on this tactic....does it work for anyone part from me?

could you update the tactic so that it is on the 12.2.2 patch then you will get more feedback!!!

I'm intrigued by this different defense, let me polish my tactic a bit and next season I'll give this a try.

hopefully it will work well for you....but its like i said....its a very specialist formation

let me know how it goes anyway and cheers for trying it out!

Well this is essentially wingless variation of 4-4-2-Diamond, it would be maybe new if there were still 1990s ;) but certainly highly unusual these days. I think modern day managers have perfected ways to counter this sort of formation ages ago.

However AI managers in FM seem to struggle against this sort of formations a lot. I've tried something similar several times and usually ended up crushing the league. However what i do differently is use one striker and skip AM in favor of 2x Inside Forwards. IF cuts inside, brings his marker with him which opens space for wing back to exploit. I found its most effective this way.

You're spot-on with the wingbacks , its almost impossible to find players who will fit into this formation, as they need to be good at everything. I think thats #1 reason why barely anyone tries.

yea i agree with you. I just wanted to try something different from every other formation you can download on here with different mentalities when it comes to defending especially.

The wingbacks basically act as wingers who will track back, but there numerous times where you'll find the wingback bursting into the box for a pull back or cross.

Its really a showcase of how you can be different and successful on FM. Hopefully other managers on here can learn something and add to their tactical knowledge

I've seen the video and im going to try this this weekend.

piece of advice: correct your defensive freekicks, against Zenit you where killed in those situations.

everyone has a bad game at set peices every now and then....but any advice would be helpful if you feel the need.

cheers for trying anyway and please let me know how you get on

I will.

The game sometimes explores is own errors, like the corner "cheat" and the long throws to the 1st post, thats a fact, but 2 goals in a match can reveal that its not working. Didnt see more, so its a 1 game based opinion.

Btw, playing with 2 wingbacks and 2 Dm with a low defensive with your setpieces, with a low defensive line to get them in your area, with 2 CM and 2 wingers and 2 AMC could be a good tatic? A 0-10-0!!

I've tried this in 3 games:

1st won 6-0, home against a lower club (Olhanense), them i've played this at home agian against Rosenborg (1st game in the ECL group this season). I've won 5-0.

I was so gald, that i tried this, against Sporting of Lisbon (rivals) away. Scored 2 golas very quickly, wich made me think that i was going to overload them with goals. But no... i suffered one from a croos to the second post, my wingback was left behind and thei right midfielder scored.

Then the team could not keep the ball, just defending the result and i had to switch to my possession tactic. won 1-3.

What i would like to see twicked:

- The midfielders dont get the ball time enough, so put the LMC as playmaker;
- lower the tempo a little bit so you can get a little more of possession and stop the opponents game;
- Your attackers get the ball in the midfield and just run with it, and i see that they dont work too much with each other and with the AMC

I'll have a look into your suggestions....

what level did your team learn the tactic to? ive found the best resukts start coming when they are fully fluid

To test it, i've made it 100% fluid with FMRTE, so its gelled.
