I thought you guys were really excited about the signings Rodgers bought in..

This last summer was far better than the previous summer. But even then the glaring omission was neglecting to fix the most vulnerable areas of the team. Goalkeeper and centre half. Leaving one of the worst 'keepers in the league as your undisputed number 1 again was absolutely criminal. The attacking options we signed have been completely waisted by a manger who is too stubborn to change and continues to try hammer square pegs into round holes.

Let's talk managers. At least that subject could give some sort of optimism.

Klopp: My personal first choice, but it's just not gonna happen I'm afraid. In any case, very unlikely.

Ancelotti: A clear second choice for me, but again very unlikely.

De Boer: I'd welcome him, he has a respectable name that can attract players, and has done well at Ajax.

Benitez: I'd rather not turn back time, but right now there's no doubt for me I'd prefer him to Rodgers. But all in all, rather not.

Villas-Boas: No.

Bielsa: I'd be optimistic, but at the same time skeptical to his 3-3-3-1 formation. So undecided I guess.

Simeone: Yes please. But he recently signed a new contract until 2020, so that's not gonna happen.

Emery: Also recently signed a new contract, but only until 2017. Not impossible, but probably not likely. I wouldn't mind at all though.

Then there are names like Koeman, Martinez, Howe, Monk... but personally I'd prefer someone who's already had some success. The last thing we need now is another "manager talent". We're not supposed to be running a manager school.

If I was Liverpool fan first choice would be Simeone but he is million percent unobtainable by probably anyone for the next few seasons. After that I would forgo all of the names you mentioned and bring in Philip Cocu, PSV have stuttered this season but they will come good, Has big club playing experience and it is only a matter of time before he goes to a big club.

Tbh I'm more excited about the signings Rodgers (allegedly) didn't do. Players like Moreno, Sakho, Origi, Markovic, Coutinho, Firmino, Can.

Sure, Markovic didn't have a good season, but imo Rodgers never gave him a fair chance. Played out of position, always substituted, never got going. Origi hasn't showed anything yet, but there can be no doubt about the raw talent of the kid.

So who has Rodgers brought in that I can honestly say were good signings? Clyne and Sturridge. That's it.

But yes, this is partly based on speculation. We can't know with certainty who brought in who, but there have been reports from people like Barrett that confirms this. Lallana, Lovren, Benteke, Lambert, Milner, Borini... these are Rodgers signings. And so far none of them have impressed me.

Knowing Liverpool though, they will sack Rodgers and end up hiring Gary Monk instead

Only unlikely if FSG refuse to change and hand over full control to them.

If they did that, and backed them, I have little doubt they'd have every chance of bagging either.

But Boston need to take a long, hard look at themselves through all this mess and accept there blame and change.

Well yeah, when I say unlikely it's based on the current ownership and their lack of determination to act on their words: "We're here to win". Because right now we're losing, and have been doing so for more than a year.

I really wouldn't be so confident Scouse. Top managers rarely take on a new job mid-season because it can all go south very quickly and that causes huge damage to their reputation. They usually prefer having a proper pre-season and at least one full transfer window to shape the team to their liking

Last summer potentially Klopp or Ancelloti would have come if FSG gave them enough perks. Mid-season I would say it's almost impossible

I'd honestly like to see that theory tested on Ancelotti if they went all out for him, did away with the B/S transfer committee and offered him everything he needed going forward. The pull of this club to that man is apparent every time he's gushed about the place over the years.

Think Unai Emery deserves a shout. He has done a good job at Valencia and Sevilla. Villas-Boas seems to have rebuilt some of his reputation but his past failures in the EPL coupled with the fact that it's not exactly hard to win the Russian League with Hulk and Witsel means he will have to prove himself even more

Yes some of the signings have been great but in whole time with Rodgers, his transfer history is shambles, every summer we have to clear out the club of players we only just got last season, because they don't fit into the system etc

Not doubting the pull but Ancelloti is not stupid. He knows he will have his pick of major clubs next summer when the inevitable sackings occur. United, City and Bayern jobs all potentially available in the summer depending on how the season pans out

Well, regardless of whom, this HAS to end.

All they are doing by letting it roll is delaying the inevitable.

You should have 3 points at the weekend against Villa, unless Sinclair has a stormer.

Last 4 games at Anfield, Villa won twice and drew twice. So unbeaten in 4 years. Before that they lost 3-0.

Unai Emery would be fantastic choice, his record is great and his team plays very good football.

They don't have Benteke now, I guess that's all that speaks in our favour.

Likely neither will we Sat'day.

But hey, we may have Ings on the wing and a nowhere near fit Sturridge isolated on an island on his own up front so yer know. (Talking of, you throw him ridiculously in against Norwich after a weeks training. Then he's not even on the bench against Carlisle? The man is utterly clueless.).

At least he now has to play Sakho by default with Lovrens injury so there is that.

Yeah, lot of changed from the Villa team pov. So many players have left and this looks completely new team bar few exceptions.

Lovren's injury is a blessing in disguise, sad to say but it's true. And being without Benteke might not be the end of the world, considering Ings is one of the few players showing real passion lately. He deserves to start. Ings and Sturridge could be a great pairing, but who the **** thinks we're gonna play with two up front? Not Rodgers anyway.

Doesnt matter who plays in defence because martin skrtel will be first pick as always. Someone messaged me yesterday saying skrtel is one of the best centre halfs in the league. I deleted his number.
