I certainly wouldn't go that far but when his own manager flat out called him out on it last week it certainly leads to him being mentally weak in that respect.

Hopefully will do him good to realise as good as he is, he's no longer a guaranteed part of the XI and won't get back in there if he's not prepared to lay it all in the line. The same as every other player.

Mentally weak is way too harsh. Have you ever had a serious muscular injury or a bad break before? When you go back to exercising again, you're paranoid about every niggle, every pain, every bit of discomfort. When you've been injured repeatedly, that's only going to be worse. You can't really blame Sturridge for not wanting to push through it and end up potentially ******* himself up. I mean, he only has to look at Torres to see what that can do to you.

You're more informed than our medical staff and manager?

It is what it is and we'll see how he reacts going forward.

When did your management and medical staff call him mentally weak? They just said that he needs to learn the difference between the types of pain, which is also what I'm saying. You get paranoid about inconsequential pain after serial injury, Sturridge needs to learn to filter that out from the kind of pain that will have serious consequences. That is a world away from calling him weak.

When did I say they did? I said the way he was called out by his manager (which he was however you want to cut it) certainly added to that feeling that's prevailed a long time about Daniel around the club and his reluctance to push through things.

Very hard won three points. Not great at all but we'll take it to end an excellent week. Finally won again after a European game for the first time in five attempts and finally beaten a team again at home we should. Both big steps forward.

Upto 6th within 6 points of everyone above. Great week rounded off with Norwich holding Arsenal.

Now onto what should be a heck of a battle down at Southampton the quarter final Wednesday.

Just how great is it to be right in the thick of the Championship challengers? (Which we are whichever way anyone wants to downplay that.). With a great looking run of fixtures through Chrimbo to come and all the top teams visited already.

In many ways yesterday was my favourite win of the week. Not spectacular or great by any means. Our final touch let us down and we created little. 'Dubious' penalty winner (although seeing it again I thought it was. Can well see why they'd say it wasn't like), although Benteke should of had one first half so it levelled itself out. And let's not forget just how horrid conditions were with a ***** of a wind to try play football in. All that said, we never at one stage looked like getting beat and ground out a win. At home. Against a team we should beat. All after a Eurooean game which we notoriously struggle after of late. Both MASSIVE steps forward.

People forget that through the '70"s and '80's heyday, there were MANY a game that we had to battle through and grind out an unspectacular win. And like those great L'pool sides (of which this is certainly not one. Yet ..... ), I love the way we've shown already we can beat you in different ways. After only 10 games of this journey. The signs going forward are REAL promising.

Real solid again defensively yesterday. Which is a great platform to build off. ****, even Lovren looks solid! (Arguably MOTM.). Amazing what proper defensive coaching and midfield protection does huh? Firmino off the pace but I think he'd of been better utilised in behind Benteke rather than wider. Ibe great again bar his finishing. And the added bonus of Henderson and Sturridge (he days tentatively) back to increase options further.

6 wins out of the last 7 with a scummy final one when most everyone else didn't. Fully expecting to run that to 8 out of 9 and a league cup semi to look forward to this time next week.

Conventional wisdom from the outside World would say we should be pinning the title hopes on one of the bigger spenders.

But we have a great leveller running the show so why not us?

BELIEVE!

Klopp's appointment has been fantastic - if nothing else, he's turned Scouse from the biggest pessimist to the greatest optimist! :P

Bang on. Calling someone mentally weak when he has a history of being injury prone is flat out silly.

Been some startling revisionism going on lately. There is one consistent issue with DS, he's very injury prone, and it makes him very cautious about bouncing back (thats just human, Hargreaves will tell you how hard it is with each successive injury). Last year Liverpool kept trying to rush him back, and it made things worse.

Lol. Hey, I'm a Liverpudlian and upbeat and optimistic by nature.

The last year and a half tested that to the limit in most everyone of us and had us right down.

But now we're on that upward curve back. And when this City's buzzing, there's not a better place on Earth to be!

I don't really see Leicester City being in the top 4 by the end of the season. I hate to say it but if I had to choose between Liverpool and Tottenham for top 4 I would choose Liverpool any day of the week so I wish for many more successful games (except against us)!

But Leicester are going to win the league!

Thank you. Feelings mutual man. If it had to be one of the other four to win it, it'd be Arsenal hands down. Always really liked how Arsenal have gone about their business. A real dignified football club like we've always traditionally been. And Highbury still remains one of my all time favourite grounds. There was just something about the old place that had real character yer know? The Emirates, as much as it was needed for progress, pails in comparison as a visiting fan.

Yeah, the next month when games start to come thick and fast should level the league out. West Ham for one are already starting to dip. Once Europe's put to bed, the bigger clubs with the bigger squads can concentrate on the league and are far better equipped to cope with two a weeks and any rotation than squads like Leicester. They've been absolutely fantastic and a breath of fresh air to press, but that allied to a **** of a run of big games they have coming up should see them drop off as we get into the second half of the year.

Yesterday's win was vital due to the fact almost every team around and above us dropped points. With the next 5 games all very winnable we can really put down a marker of intent

6 points off the top with a good run coming up and all the bigger sides at Anfield in the New Year - Promising signs!

Even Fred the Manc bookie has us down as 4th favourites now.

People outside are beginning to take note. Although whether that's a good or bad thing is another thing again haha. Rather they all concentrate on the bigger spenders and leave us alone.

The only worry is that it is still very much the honeymoon period feel and once that ends you hope the performances don't drop... It is unlikely but a possibility

Oh, there's gonna' be dips as we go, no question. Crystal Palace was still very much in mind going into yesterday.

Just loving the fact we've now added a scummy win into it. Happily take more of them when the chips are down, minimise the dips, and keep adding points on the board.

Who knows where this journey will take us but's it's fixing to be a heck of a ride.

First things first. Southampton on Wednesday. They've ('Saints) got to be looking at it and thinking we go strong, beat these and avoid City, we've a fantastic chance of being at Wembley. Real battle in prospect.
