Firstly, we no longer go the 'service' at the ground. I say 'service', as it's become the furthest thing from that over recent years. WAY too many people now treat it like 'entertainment', screaming and taking photies of the players when the arrive, excited that they're actually able to be in Anfield etc; a lot of the HFSG (Family Support Group. The family's of the bereaved), Aspinall and Hicks in particular, have treated the occasion akin to a political rally with some of their speeches which was neither the time nor place. The football club try's it's best but it just became a sideshow. The 20th we finally had enough and took it upon ourselves to doing our own thing at a church in town which I've always considered the spiritual home of the City. (Won't name it as we like to keep it small but open to that in PM if any local's so inclined are interested going forward.). The clergy have been real accommodating in allowing this. Firstly outside, and the last three years inside the church. A short, respectful service where a few words are said, the names read out, and a silence at 3:06 PM. Made even better the last few years by the the priest of the Church joining in and saying a few words at the end which always rounds it off perfectly. (Although the ****** can't half drink when he comes back to the pub after haha.). In short we've got back to what the day should be. A respectful, traditional remembrance service in an understated way for lost friends that we feel they and ourselves deserve. It helps us all.

Now, that's our choice. But I think it's completely and utterly wrong for the HFSG to decide that the service at the ground is now over. I get that the family's may want that and may be drained through everything the last 27 years. But they just made that decision alone without consulting anyone which has further ****** off the HJC. (Hillsborough Justice Campaign which was a split with certain family's down to the FSG's 'control' over things.). Where do all those people, and there still are many genuine ones among all the 'tourists' who go the ground for the RIGHT reasons, go next year? Some may do what we've done and do their own thing. (Even if we'd been in Dortmund Friday we'd of found a church and remembered.). But it's not right to take that away from people. When Aspinall turned around and said 'We want to draw a line under this' I and a lot of people were both flabbergasted and hurt/ angry. That was a terribly selfish thing to say and attitude to have. Again, I feel terribly for the family's and their strength the last 27 years has been unreal to carry on the fight. But they are FAR from the only ones effected and they DON'T speak for EVERYONE. The true death toll of Hillsborough is somewhere currently around 110/111 with the additions of people who took their own lives in the intervening years unable to cope with the mental scars that never go away. Some even blaming themselves for not being killed on the day and surviving. Not to mention the thousands of people, myself included as a teenager experiencing something NOBODY should ever have to experience and having a life changing event happen to you that is just the worst possible you could; who have had to carry on their lives whilst still baring the scars that no amount of counselling can ever fully cure. All the people who weren't there who lost friends and still mourn them. This wasn't just the immediate family's loss and it's wrong that they should treat it as such. For her to say that ..... I don't think I'll EVER stop remembering and mourning the 15th. There's NO 'line' to be drawn. Even Sheffield Wednesday continue to hold a small, respectful service at the memorial garden outside Hillsborough every year for anyone that wishes to attend there. If certain family members no longer wish to attend that's both understandable and their prerogative. But it should be personal choice and open for ALL to decide.

Yesterday, another thing that blows me away, and falls on the club as much as the HFSG, they gave the family's a maximum of TWO tickets each for the service at Anfield. I know quite a few stayed away and went to the HJC service at the new memorial in town because of that. Ridiculous and beyond belief. Over the past 27 years, the family's of the people that died have expanded with kids and grandkids who all deserve to be in attendance to remember. The club should of stepped in and expanded that area they give to the family's. It's not hard and would of been the right thing to do..

The Family Support Group can be VERY insular and selfish. They've done tremendous work. And my heart goes out to them for their ultimate loss. But they are FAR from the only ones that have campaigned the last 27 years and taken on the highest powers in the land. Or been, and still are, massively effected by the events of April 15th, 1989. Aspinall and Hicks accepting MBE's, before any verdict is even out, is another glaring example of that. It ISN'T all about them.

Be interesting to see where people go and what people do next year but even though I no longer go there, I don't agree that they should of had the venue of the ground taken away from them. Not least without consultation with others on the decision.

Ridiculous that he didn't start Thursday. Klopp got that one well and truly wrong IMHO. Moving Milner inside where he's not started most all year at the expense of the in form Allen, who he'd taken off Sunday presumably to save for midweek was a head scratcher.

He rectified it by making the subs and tactical adjustments like, but before then we had next to nothing in midfield.

Just been catching up on Klopp's pressers after Thursday .....

'..... Throw the plan in the purple bin' ...... LMAO. (Our garbage bins here are purple.). He's becoming more and more a part of the City the longer he's here.

No word of a lie, and I've mentioned it before on here I believe, I have Evertonian friends (and our rivalry is fierce. They get called 'bitter' for a reason), who openly say 'We want to hate him. We SHOULD hate him because he's a red nosed *******. But we just CAN'T hate him and not like him because he's so God **** likeable and genuine.'

Fella's character and charisma just transcends.

like i said no matter who he went to he would buy into the clubs history and the fans would love him

Don't even get me started mate. I was in lower centenery, about level with the edge of the penalty box (kop end).

Last 10 minutes when we just needed the last goal people started sitting down and I was like nah **** that. Was the first row to start the stand up behind me. Didn't give a **** me as if I was going to sit down for that part of the game!!

Definitely making sure I get online when the sale starts to get a ticket in the kop. Had some right wools next to me as well.

I posted on these here pages after I got back from Dortmund about how it blew me away the amount of BvB fans who hadn't been over in 2001 the Champs League or the friendly a few years ago who just couldn't wait to experience the 'unique atmosphere of Anfield Road' as they call it. And again on Thursday, they were literally in awe outside taking photos and sampling it all in, in anticipation of getting inside. They'd come for the experience as much as to support their team. (Which they did magnificently. Watching their rhythmic bouncing and swaying as one from the other end was mesmerising. The constant flag waving just added to that.). And this from fans who are part of 80,000 plus at the Westfalenstadion with that whopping South terrace, the 'Yellow Wall', which has helped elevate their club into one of the most envied currently in Europe. But that is the reputation Liverpool FC and Anfield on a European night STILL carries around the Continent. We know, like most every Premier League ground since the introduction of seating, the price hike, and the new generation of 'middle class' fan that can afford that seats attracted, often the old place can be like a morgue for a run of the mill league game. But when we DO get it right ..... Man alive, there really is NO other place like it. ANYWHERE. And Thursday my word did we get it right. I LOVE that line from Tuchel about the 'stadium just seeming to know what was going to happen.' It really does sound trite but the bond and belief between the club and support, not least on nights like these is unique and one money just can't buy.

I called round a good friends house last night to drop off my Derby ticket. (That one is KILLING me but finances are bitting hard and the European aways catching up with Villarreal so close to Dortmund and then the <hopefully> final in Basle. Something had to give.). And his son, who is 14, was still buzzing from Thursday. The single best game he's ever experienced and one he'll NEVER forget and be talking to his kids about in years to come. It's games and nights like that, that go down in folklore not just here but across the Continent and continue to keep LFC as a special football club in peoples minds. And when I think on it, it's probably the greatest game I've ever experienced at the old Stadium. The atmosphere didn't seem up there with he Chelsea semi in '05. But then everyone you read and speak to who watched said it sounded electric. From the awesome scenes of the players coach being greeted, to the spine-tingling YNWA then the ups and downs of an epic football match. Maybe you're just too invested on the game and nervous and then in disbelief at how it all turned out to really appreciate it. But to come back like that, after going 2-0 and then 3-1 behind and needing to score 3 times in a half hour or so against one of the best sides currently in Europe ..... Yeah, that has to rank as one of the the greatest nights of all that we'll be talking about for years and years and years.

And in the transient World we live in, I wonder just how many new fans we picked up who watched that? Or how many players looked at it and thought 'man, I want to be a part of THAT!?' That special, special game against BvB really could be the catalyst on so many levels to shooting the club back to real prominence.

I've personally been so, SO fortunate to of been born where I was, to of been brought up on the right side of this great City; and to of gotten to experience SO many fantastic nights, particularly on the European stage, that money just can not buy with memories that live with you forever.

Thursday, not just in the life of a 14 year old and his generation, may just of been the greatest Anfield night of the lot.

Is rite la. How ANYONE would want to sit down through that is beyond me. (And even less the Kemmy where the leg room is so tight your knees are up around your ears haha.).

LOVE the attitude. LOVE the passion. But then Scousers know. ;).
 
Hmmm. MUCH changed side. Expected most of that bar Ward, Randle (who's looked completely out of his depth to me every game he's played) and the bang out of form/ confidence Ibe. Can't understand why there's no Fanno. Presume we're taking the opportunity to have a good look at Ward in competitive action to see if he has what it takes to be a solid back-up which I get.

Great to see Smith back finally and another start for the very impressive Stewart and Ojo.

Good test for Smith in particular to see how he handles Ritchie who's looked real tidy every time I've seen Bournemouth this season.
