Just sat here in bits. Part frustration, part relief, but just so thankful that after nearly three decades we've been vindicated for what we knew was the truth on that horrific day. The fact that after 27 years, in a court of law, albeit a coroners court, to FINALLY have it official that we didn't kill our own I can not begin to tell you. Dealing with that day has been hard enough initself and will be until the day we die. But living with that cloud over us from so many who believed the Establishments coverup, and still sadly do to this day, that I played a part in killing my own has been like a double punishment to have to deal with.

I was holding it together until the family's started singing YNWA. Then I just went. Momentous day but not a celebratory one being its come 27 years too late. Just relief and vindication for what we've always known.

Just so so sad that great people like Anne Williams and John Glover who fought so tirelessly against the highest powers in the land for the truth and justice for their loved ones are sadly no longer here to hear the verdict they fought so hard for.

Now the next long stage begins with private prosecutions in bringing those to justice that have escaped for FAR too long.

Being someone who was neither alive at the time of the disaster, nor from Liverpool, I cant even begin to imagine what the last 27 years must have been like. Even just sitting here reading the BBC live feed, I am on the verge of crying. I hate to think how awful the last 27 years must have been.

Well done to everyone who kept fighting for Justice. It has finally arrived.
 
Has justice really arrived though? I don't mean to be insensitive, quite the opposite actually. The truth has arrived, but justice? Like I saw one guy say, "police are still getting their pensions, politicians have gone on to make millions, that paper is still being sold".

It seems to me the truth has finally been established as such instead of a lie, but justice is yet to be served.

Closure for a lot, but just the beginning for others. Expect a large list of prosecutions to begin.
 
You know human emotions are a strange thing. I've waited 27 years for this day. 27 years of playing my small part in the fight for the truth to come out and justice to prevail. 27 years of having the cloud of the smear campaign from the Establishment that started at the very highest reaches of Government the day after the disaster (such a shame that utter ***** Thatcher is now dead and won't get hers) hanging over myself and my City with people across the Nation believing the lies and accusing you of not only killing your own, but of impeding rescue efforts and robbing your own dead when WE were just about the ONLY ones that tried to save lives. It's been like two tragedy's in one. Trying to live with the mental scars of being involved in such horror that NOBODY should ever have to experience and that never goes away whilst having to deal with the constant **** thrown at you that you knew to be totally untrue in an effort to totally discredit you and protect those public servant's who SHOULD of been protecting you. So one would think you'd be SO elated at receiving what you've fought so hard for the almost three decades and having your name officialaly cleared in a court of law .....


..... Don't get me wrong, I am very happy. But that initial elation has turned to a mounting fury and anger through all the emotions today to "WE TOLD YOU SO from the get go but you NEVER listened and have put us through 27 years of the most cruel pain imaginable, lying at every verse end to protect your own arses when YOU ALL should of been the ones protecting US!' All the while mixed in with overall sadness that has had tears flowing in buckets. Sadness that it's taken SO long for the truth to be officially recorded. Sadness for all the family members who fought so tirelessly for SO long to get the truth on their loved ones death and who are sadly no longer with us today when that fight is ultimately won. Just so overwhelming a gambit of emotions that I've been really struggling with watching the news all day and talking to friends equally effected. (I took the day off today in unpaid leave, No way in **** ANY work was getting done today.). I honestly don't know what I expected to feel but it's kind of anti-climatic in a weird way after all this time you're just left completely emotionally drained. Not so much a celebratory day but more one of relief and vindication that we did the right thing.


A great debt of thanks goes out to the Jury members who have had to share in our pain for the last 2 years and whom I'm sure have been effected by the heart wrenching testimonies they've had to sit through. And most notably, my heart and my deepest thanks goes out to the family's who have been at the forefront of the fight the past 27 years. Where they've found the continued strength to take on the highest powers in the land after being repeatedly knocked down and slandered and lied about I do not know. Except I'm one of them who comes from the very special stock of this very special City. And as MANY have found over the years, when you take on the City of Liverpool you're choosing the WRONG City to pick a fight with! We stand up for own and what's right and what we believe in to the last. We DON'T back down to ANYONE. Whatever the odds. I'm SO proud to of been born in the greatest City on Earth containing some of the best people you could ever wish to meet. And now I can hold my head up high knowing the truth that we've known and shouted for since April 15, 1989 is now officially on legal record. I DIDN'T murder my own. I can't begin to tell you the emotional weight that lifts off ones shoulders after you've carried it around for over a half a Century. The emotional wounds and memory's of that horrible day will live with myself and everyone else there so irrevocably effected for ever. They'll still be ignorant people out there who will sadly continue to doubt and believe the evil, cruel lies of the coverup. We can't sadly alter that. But a jury of 6 woman and 3 men of my peers have sat through the longest legal inquest this Country has ever seen and COMPLETELY exonerated us as they've gotten to the truth. And that's ultimately ALL that counts.


​Where this will now ultimately lead after today's momentous events in British legal history I honestly don't know. There's still two ongoing Police and judicial investigations that will conclude around the end of the year into certain individuals/ associations actions. And it's important to remember that the jury's findings where in a coroners court and don't carry the same weight as a court of law. BUT the Crown Prosecution Service now has a duty to bring about charges off the back of the unlawful killing verdict. Most likely manslaughter. So they'll doubtless be a LOT of high profile, VERY powerful Establishment figures with blood on their hands resting VERY uneasy right now.

But for today at least, our names are finally cleared and the family's can properly lay their loved ones to peaceful rest with the correct verdict on their death.

A real nice touch from the Council as well on one of the civic buildings, St. Georges Hall today. The names of the 96 with the the outcome of today's findings. After 27 LONG years, truth and justice has prevailed:

I heard something was being arranged there for last night as well but unfortunately I'm well in bed by 8pm now a days.

Went down about half 11 last night to take some photies (looked boss at night lit up all in red with the 96 candles the steps) and there where a lot of people still there then. Some sat down. Some taking pics. Nice and quiet but somewhat eerie.

Be chocca round there later.

*Edit* Echo reckons more than 20,000 expected tonight. About 5:45 it starts. Would defo of gone down but on a plane out of Manc an hour before: Hillsborough commemoration being held at St George's plateau tonight - Liverpool Echo

I presume they're thinking if he doesn't request the B sample tested it'll go through quicker so any possible ban will be started quicker. Even pleading 'mitigating circumstances' (an absolute joke in itself as you don't have to know what's in something. But in this day and age there's NO excuse for not running it by the club doc) it's sounding like a lengthy ban.

Can see him being done at ours now. But that get's tricky as you have a £20 million player. Do you pay him for doing nottin' for a year then hope to sell him? Can you suspend him without pay? (Surely it's a breach of his contract. Failing a frigging drugs test?).

Messy, messy situation. The frigging boneheaded idiot.

I'd hope so! If he is at fault for getting banned I don't see why he should be earning thousands of pounds while doing jack **** for months

It's not justice mate. It's just that truth is out. Justice means punishing everyone who tried to cover up all the years.

My dad went down at 2am last night (I don't know why so late haha) but he got some cracking pictures. Will share them when I can.
 
First official tickets available around the weekend for the Super Cup final at Lerkendal, at €490-690. That's just not gonna happen, thanks for nothing UEFA.
