Let the past go mate. You've now one of the best coaches in the World at finding talent nobody else is interested in and turning them into top class players. His career's littered with them. Be safe in the knowledge whoever comes in, known name or a name nobody expects, cheap player or pricey one, he'll be the RIGHT player for what Klopp requires. An improvement on what we have. And the right player for US.

Personally not concerned at all under this fella' like I would of been under his predecessors. He has this.

*Edit* And ignore most all rumours right now. None of the reliable local journalists are reporting much of anything with the Euro's going on. Mostly just others using L'pool as major click bait. It'll hot up after that's over.

My comment wasn't really anything to do with the past mate.

I just dont consider Chilwell with a back-up option of Andrew Robertson or Zielinski good enough targets.

It would be great if I was as confident as you, but it is underwhelming to say the least.

If Chillwell comes in (and Arsenal have had two confirmed bids turned down for him last year if that reassures you), he'll be the young, developing understudy. Hopefully to someone like Hector but we'll see how that plays out when the Euro's are over. No way he's coming straight in as the #1 unless he's Joe Gomez last year special. And if he was he'd of been playing more for Leicester. I think that's more a case of his bezzie at Huddersfield has had him on loan and gone 'Yeah, get on this kid. He's gonna' be great and fits perfectly into the way we play.' And we're looking at getting him cheap now rather than risk him taking a massive jump the next year or two and suddenly you're looking at Luke Shaw money. Robertson, like so many others, is just more click bait. Not seen anyone credible on that.

The Pole was very underwhelming today. And I know as much as the next man about him. Which is next to nottin'. But everything I read and see suggests he's just a consistent playmaker that keeps things ticking over. Nothing flash. Just steady every game. Which sounds a nice combination with Emre in there going forward.

There was an interesting piece the Echo on some of the bargains he's turned into very good players Dortmund the other day. I'll see if I can find it.

Dortmund were near bankrupt at that point in time, so the whole team was build super cheap and that turned out pretty good in the end, didn't it. Although strategy like that needs time and patience. Lewandowski was so ***** in his first Dortmund season, some fans made this parody video:

I guess he kind of turned out a decent player in the end...but that was with over a year of being **** and Klopp insisting on playing him. Would he be given the same time and patience in England? I have my doubts.

It's all relative of course as we live in a transient, 'what have you done for me lately?' society, and I wasn't around when Shankly held this City in the palm of his hand, red and blue in many instances; but through my life time I've not seen anyone have that same instant magnetism with this City right out of the gate that Klopp's had. I got roundly laughed at from opposition fans for saying on here (and a solid red who made the point along the lines of 'let Klopp be the new Klopp and not the next..... ) that the mad German was the new Shankly. But to understand that you'd have to understand the way Scousers are, the connection we have to our football club, and the way this man has come in and just got that uniqueness from the get go and channelled into that. It sounds contrite, but he really is one of us and is viewed as one of our own. A complete adopted Scouser within now 8 months of arriving to the point the majority of Evertonians really like him down to his character and honesty. In a long winded way I'm trying to say I honestly don't think there'd be any problem on him being given the time to do things his way because he's picked us up from the depths and made most everyone seriously BELIEVE again. Which he's backed up beyond talk by taking a fairly average group of players going nowhere to two cup finals, one a major European one, with some unforgettable nights along the way. None of which were his 'own' players and without that most important of football staples, a proper pre-season where the foundations are laid for the marathon that follows. And that unwavering belief he's fostered is a very powerful thing to have on your side.

We could finish outside the top 4 next year. And there'd be a heck of a lot of disappointment if we did. But you wouldn't get many calling for his head. Because of that belief. We know it's a process. And we know there's going to be dips along the road to getting back where we so crave to be. But we to almost to a man believe he's the right man to lead us there and we feel safe letting him do it his way.

He promised us a title within 4 years. I happen to think that'll happen much quicker than that but I'm also pretty sure the majority will give him that. And the club have gone all in on him so he's on as safe a ground as a football manager can be there too.

Cue mocking cry's of 'Lord Jesus Klopp' and the like from people that have never had him and don't understand, and of course it sounds trite when he's not so much as won anything as yet; but he really is a modern day Shankly to a whole new generation. Just like he was and remains at Mainz. Just like he was and remains in Dortmund. He get's this City. He get's this club. And he get's this fanbase. It's one of the main reasons he openly admits he chose us.

I'm mind to being out in Dortmund for the first leg of the tie with BvB this year. A tie on paper we had absolutely no right to win. And most every Dortmund fan rightly saying as much. But then most every Dortmund fan adding 'but you have Kloppo. And Kloppo levels things. He makes everyone play harder and better. He makes everyone BELIEVE!' You have to experience him in charge of your club to fully appreciate what he brings.

He's brought back the hope. And he's brought back the belief. He'll be afforded the time to turn this around.

Chilwell would be a good signing providing someone in the mould of Hector was brought in, but I worry that wont happen. (Complete guess, i know)

Zielinski I dont know much about but I would be expecting him to be a regular starter for Poland if we were targeting him

I do like Sadio Mane though, and if we can get another few first team starters in we're in good shape.

I believe he was a regular right through qualifying. Just they've gone more defensive in France with two holding mids and tweaked their style to get through the group. But Tyton would be the one to ask on that.

Been a pretty poor tournament thus far hasn't it save for one or two games? Can't really point to one clear best side. All much of a muchness.

Hopefully things hot up when it get's to straight knock-out football.

Yep. It's been pretty negative as the lesser sides on paper can afford drawing their games due this 3rd place team going through.

Slovakia would have had to of been more attacking against England is just one example, but instead they put 11 behind the ball and was happy to take 3rd place

Related aside ..... Hopefully Skrtel can have as good a game again the next one to up his fee a little bit more.
 
Yeah, we're playing sort of 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 with flying wingers, so we need that extra defensive solidity in the middle. Especially with this dumbass Euro format where you don't really need to win games to go out of the group.

Don't get your hopes up. I'm just looking forward to Tranmere, which is now just over two weeks away :P

Im more excited in us signing Chillwell then any of our other targets. Huddersfield fans were raveing about how good he was at 18, apparently he was their best player in the 8 or so games he played. Only being called back to cover for Fuchs. The one game i watched him was the spurs Cup game and again he was good, albeit he made a mistake for the goal. What I dont get is people knocking signings despite never seeing said player even kick a ball. All this call for marquee signings have gotten the club no were. Have a little bit of faith Marshall, we have Klopp in charge now not the fraud that came before him.
