Van Nistelrooy was out for the best part of 2 years. Which is literally our point.

You're the one who is going on about the brilliant recovery, everyone else is saying dial it back

Oh, was van Nistelrooy slightly longer? My mistake. But the premise is the same. He was straight back at it as good as new. As was Shearer on his return. So speculating on whether Alex will or won’t be is futile as everyones different.

And it is a rapid recovery to this point. Well ahead of schedule.

Nottin needs dialling back on that. It was taken out of context when it went down the expectaton line ..... On a lad who’s not played a ressi game yet. Very strange to even start talking in those terms at this stage.

Made up with his progress to this point with the proapectt of seeing him on a football field again this week.

Who wouldn’t love that?

People may have different recovery speed, but every knee works the same. I'd imagine individual playstyle is what makes a difference. Shearer was basically rugby player posing as a footballer, so lack of mobility wouldn't stop him from returning to top level. But look at fat Ronaldo and his style of dribbling and it's pretty obvious why he was never the same after his knees got ******.

Both Nist & Shearer came back after a preseason as well. ACL tear recovery is 9 months or more after the surgery, lad is right on track should be great to see him get minutes before a summer rest.

Exactly. Which is what the aim was along. For him to be ready to take part in a full pre-season to be back for next year.

Now he’s well ahead of the curve on the prognosis they set for a time-frame on that to the point it’s great to have the chance to see him playing football again.

An unexpected and happy bonus.

Our run-ins picture perfect yanno’ now Utd and Everton are done.

6 games against 6 the bottom 7 teams and Chelsea/ Tottenham/ Wolves at home.

Couldn’t have hand picked a much better run of games.

Honestly see us running 9 out of 9 there.

If City also go perfect fair ***** to them. Couldn’t grumble at all losing it to a 98 point team.

Like Pep has said on City if they lose out to ourselves, I’d have NO regrets personally.

Just immense pride at flipping a MAMMOTH 25 point gap from last season to be serious contenders again against the most expensively assembled side in history putting together two of the greatest back-to-back seasons in English top flight history.

Ox definitely been a big miss this season. Mostly down to him & Salah having a great understanding (https://twitter.com/VintageSalah/status/1087730809279315973), but partially because Keita hasn't done what was said on the tin. He was supposed to replace Ox's effective drive from midfield, co-grab games by the scuff of the neck, add goals & assists and just link the midfield and attack like Ox was doing, but just hasn't (at least consistently) done so. Be nice for you if Ox could hit the ground running for the run-in, but as said here, ACL is no gimme.

Having said that, City missing De Bruyne for the season (even when he's been sparingly on the pitch, he might as well not be; just hasn't looked half the player - another example of needing time & probably a nice pre-season to recover I guess) more than evens it out.

I really like Gary Neville as a pundit. Tells it straight on what he believes with no ulterior agenda. I’d take him any day of the week over Sky’s rent-a-gobshite Carragher who just plays the Sky game for the sake of controversy.

But telling L’pool Football Club to sack off the European Cup for the PL ..... SERIOUSLY Gary?

Who do yers think we are? Tottenham?!!!!!

This club’s history has been built, in large parts, on great European nights. Why our standing is still SO high across the Continent. One of Europe’s marquee clubs who only look up to Madrid amd Milan in UEFA competition lore.

There’s NO bigger competition/ prize in football than the European Cup. Certainly in club football. I want the league as much as the next man. Nigh on 30 years wait is a LONG time between titles. But give me the European Cup over the PL ANY day of the week. Champions of a whole Continent> Champions of a Country.

And you think we should jib that for the sake of the league Gary? SERIOUSLY?!!!!! Would you say the same about Utd this week in Paris for the sake of the top 4?

All that said, I want both. And with the depth of what is almost a fully healthy squad again for the run-in, there’s absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t be going all out for both as we are.

Disgracefully poor suggestion. Whatever the premise was behind it.

How’s rhat deiberate booking working out for yers now Ramos?

Shithouse.

45 more mins.

Come on Ajax!

Real v Ajax a perfect example of why VAR should not exist. 4 minutes to try and determine if a ball went out when there is no angle to give a clear and definitive answer. Complete joke.

Anyway, Tadic belter. 3-0.

I think it had to take this long exactly because they didn't have a good angle.

Thats the point. If it’s not clear and obvious it should never go to VAR.

Anyway, 4-1. Get the **** out!

Wah wah Ramos yers horrible shithouse yer!

But if it's already clear and obvious there's no need for VAR in a first place.

But if it's already clear and obvious there's no need for VAR in a first place.

For clarity, this was the speal from UEFA they put in the Munich programme:

A VAR team at the stadium will constantly check for clear and obvious errors related to the following four match-changing situstions:

1. GOALS.
2. INCIDENTS IN THE PENALTY AREA.
3. RED CARDS.
4. MISTAKEN IDENTITY.

What’s the process?

• The VAR team will check all match-changing situations, but will only intervene for clear and obvious mistakes. The referee can hold up play while a decision is being reviewed.

• If the VAR review provides clear evidence for a serious mistake in one of the game-chamging situations, the VAR can then ask the referee to conduct an on-field review. The final decision can only be taken by the referee.

• The VAR is also able to take into account any infringement that could have taken place in the build up to the incident. (The attacking phase of play.).

• For ‘factual’ decisions (e.g. offsides, fouls in or outside the penalty area), the VAR can simply inform the referee of those facts and the on-field view screen isn’t needed, but it is always the referee who takes the final decision.

• The on-field review process will be communicated within the stadium using either the stadium screens or rhe public announcement system.

Should be signing something by the Beatles instead tbh.

Should be signing something by the Beatles instead tbh.

As you asked-

There’s been a few over the years within the framework of Beatles songs. Always loved the Xabi one:

But this gives me the perfect excuse to put up two of my all time favourite videos:

First, the Kop in all her glory in ‘64 belting out Beatles songs-

And Sky’s brilliant exit piece from Istanbul.

*Shivers.

It should be a criminal offense punished by jail time to make Stambul video without that Kaka assist to Crespo. I genuinely cannot resist watching it for a 500 time when someone links that game. I have to watch it, I can't help myself. The way he turns to beat Gerrard and then plays that monster of a pass is just out of this world.
