Today sums up the mentality difference between us and Arsenal. We grind out a hard win in the last moments, while Arsenal throw away a 2 goal lead
Time-wasting and whining twats. Honestly watching them is such a chore I said it on the utd thread I know as fans we are extremely rose-tinted to our club and players but the way they play makes Mourinho's peak sides look like saints. It's just a horrible watch.

Just like Forest, that was another outstanding L’pool away display, at a really difficult ground, that hammered home for the second time this week, that we are LEVELS above anyone else in this league.

First things first, a personal thanks in remembrance:

We raised a glass pre-game to not only one of the finest footballers to ever play the game, Denis Law. But to a genuine Scouse LEGEND, and someone who has been an inspirational rock to those of us raising that glass these past 35 years, Philip Hammond. One of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet, who always had time for anyone who approached him, he completely embodied everything our great City stands for. I sadly know first hand how tough dealing with Sheffield has been the last 3 and a half decades. It never leaves you. But to have both lost and fought for my son and every last one of us, with such dignity and humility, against the highest powers in the land, on top of that grief, over the duration ….. Words honestly cannot describe the debt of gratitude we owe him. God rest Phil. Enjoy being reunited with young Phillip once more. 🙏🏻❤️

As for the game …..

Ala my Forest missive, I don’t normally put stats down in these as people like the preferred, lived experience from the game thats oft completely different. But just like after Forest, it would appear, after reading the net this AM and the utterly mad amount of comments trying to paint L’pool as ‘lucky’ or ‘playing poorly’, they are once more needed to hammer home just HOW dominant L’pool were for the second time in 5 days this week. Again, away from home, at a super tough place to go …..

The Xg was a mind blowing 0.72 for Brentford and 3.4 for the mighty Reds. L’pool had a whopping 37 shots to Brentford’s 11. A PL record for an away team since they began keeping records. 8 shots on target to Brentford’s 6. None of which really troubled Alisson. And big chances were 4-1 in L’pools favour ….. Like Forest, TOTAL dominance achieved once more at one of the hardest places to go in the entire league. Brentford have the 3rd best home record this term. Only Forest and Arsenal have won there. And they’ve scored more goals at home (29), than anyone else in the division. Heck, they are the 5th highest scorers in the PL. To go to their house, and limit them to an Xg of 0.72, in SUCH a dominant display, was phenomenal.

The ONLY difference between the outstanding display at Forest to yesterday was a goalkeeper didn’t play out of his skin against us and we got the rub of the green our complete dominance deserved.

Talking of Forest, we were half jokingly talking on the way home Tuesday how we’d missed Darwin’s last minute intervention like last year through his boneheaded ban. And then yesterday happens ….. There is honestly NO better way to win a game of football than that from a supporter view point. Our end was just a see of twisted arms and legs and the celebration continued on a bouncing, very drunken train home. Moments and memories like that, when it just goes OFF, are what going the match is ALL about. SO happy for Darwin that our unwavering faith of support in him at the match got rewarded in such important style. The man never stops working and trying to improve. And you can see he just wants to reward the support and love he gets and pay us back in kind. The way his teammates and manager add to that live and faith just fly’s in the face of some of the disgraceful nonsense wrote about him online. Hopefully yesterday was the confidence boost he needs to start scoring once more. And talking about ridiculously maligned players from the on-line masses, it was brilliant to see Trent have such a top game both ends if the field and once again receive his live and appreciation from Arne’s travelling Red army. But they were all superb yet again yesterday in another mammoth win on the procession to #20.

But, after watching two imperious away displays of total football dominance this past week, at two incredibly tough grounds to go to, if you STILL have doubts about this historical gang of Reds title credentials, or that they haven’t got the best squad in the league by some distance (brilliant to hear MOTD note our unmatched squad depth last night among all the current narking for additions), then just look at the numbers at the top of this missive and ask yourself what other team could possibly go on a run like that to stop us? (Bar City who we put out of the race when we beat them and went 11 clear of them) …..

EXACTLY!!!!

Up the best team in the land by a Country mile Reds!!!!

Kudos to Nunez. He works hard and never gives up, will he fulfill his potential with us I dont really know but you can never question his work rate and ethic whilst he is at the club.

The 'Scousest' (new word?) of all the players we have.

Why he's so adored by the support at the match.

He's everything you'd like to think you'd be given the chance to wear the shirt.

The man for a crowd let off.

Those that know, KNOW!

We know mate. We know. We knew going into this season that, when healthy, we have the best and deepest squad in the Country by far that nobody outside of City can live with. And, unlike last season, we have stayed healthy to not have any concerns at all about 'running out of steam' et al in the quest for all 4. TOTALLY different scenarios and it's utterly mad when people try make the comparison.

Love Frank. There was a reason he was HIGH on the short, short list of candidates to take over from Jurgen. As dominated as they were, TOTAL respect to his team yesterday. And to every single player on the park. There can't have been a game this season where all 22 players and subs put as much hard graft running in as both sides did yesterday at Brentford.

Brilliant interactions between Arne & Frank on the touchline too yesterday - competitive, respectful & with a smile. And there’s a boss interview between him and Lineker on the BBC.

Like Jurgen and Arne, an even better human being than he is football coach/ manager.

He’ll surely get his chance at a big club before too much longer?

Loved that goal for Elliot. Unlucky with the injury at the start of the season but he was the best player on the pitch when he came on. You could argue he's been underused by Slot this season since coming back in.

Late to the party on a mad busy day so I’ll keep this short.

Current total game unbeaten run:
P 4 W 3 D 1 F 9 A 2 CS: 2
2 Straight Wins.

Current unbeaten home total games run:
P 14 W 12 D 2 F 37 A 9 CS: 7
2 Straight Wins.

Pre-season CL objective to finish top 8 and avoid the extra expense of a qualifier boxed. With a game to spare. ✅

Games like last night are funny occasions. It’s proper hard to get fully up for them, on and off the park, when you both know you are as good as qualified before the game. Needing only a point from the last two games. And that you are levels better than the opposition. Which is no disrespect to Lille BTW. They are a proper football side. Well coached. Stuck to their style. Very good footballers. Just NOBODY on the planet can live with this gang of Reds this season. And they handled the latest big test put in front of them in as good a professional manner as you could have wished for. And they did it showcasing their brilliant depth that NO other club comes close to matching. Rotating more than expected. And STILL comfortably keeping a side that had gone 4 months and 21 games without defeat at arms length. Yet the absolute on-line virgins will have anyone that will listen believe our squad isn’t strong and if we don’t buy x, y and z, the season is doomed and we should be calling for FSG’s heads. 🙄🙄When they need to get it into theirs that not only is that not the way we behave as we support our team. But our team winning F EVERYTHING this season is ALL anyone is interested and invested in. I really feel for anyone not FULLY invested in just enjoying this historical ride and supporting this brilliant L’pool vintage as you won’t feel anything like how the rest of us feel come May/ June. The journey is as rewarding as the prize at the end. But hey, if first Jurgen, and now Arne, have taught you nothing over the years and you want to just nark and stamp your feet at not getting the (unneeded right now) shinny new toys you want, then its your loss.

Shout out to the Lille fans. Marc and his companions in the pub before the game were an absolute pleasure to entertain. I will NEVER get tired of listening to opposition foreign fans saying visiting Anfield and the City was not only the trip of a lifetime. But had exceeded all expectations. Scouse pride and all that.

Hope Arne puts a strong side out next week. Not only would it be boss to go a magnificent 8 out of 8 in this new format. But, as always, there's mega money and vital coefficient points in play. Although after being told last night to prepare for next week, as we are only in Eindhoven for a short 24 hours, we are going to ‘Enjoy it to excess as soon as we land in the ‘Dam Wednesday morning', I might well remember little of it haha. 👀🤦‍♂️

Pray for my liver haha.

Who’s next?

Up the BEST in Europe Reds!

I think mate, as Chiesa and Jota have found out, it's a mere case of H having to reach peek fitness before he starts again. As Slot has shown he’s mad keen on with everyone bar a ‘needs must’ Konate.

As routine wins go, that was as routine as it gets in front of a record Anfield league crowd of 60,420. Always nice to wake up and read you were a part of history on your latest day out with Arne’s all conquering Army.

But it was only so routine down to the phenomenal amount of work L’pool put in all over the park. Yeah, Ipswich are a side headed one way now that early exuberance we saw opening day has long left them. Fresh off a hiding last week, the faired no better this. Pinned in their own half for nearly all the 90 in a training game exhibition of attack against defence. They had no outball. And no semblance of a player to utilise that even if they’d had an outball plan. There’s been some absolute guff wrote about Liam Delap this season to the point of him being England's next big #9 star. He isn’t. There’s a reason City happily offloaded Liam Delap. And it wasn’t just for pure PSR profit. Liam Delap is a yard dog. Cumbersome, looking to throw himself down at every opportunity for a free kick. And then use his bulk to try win the header. Nowhere near top half PL quality. Yet some absolute weapons mooted L’pool replacing Darwin with him not too long back. 🤦‍♂️ But regardless, Ipswich never had that outball ALL teams need as L’pool worked SO hard to keep them penned in their final third for pretty much the full 90. No wonder Slot was SO enthused after by saying it was almost the perfect game. Its the kind of straight forward, totally controlling, dominant 90 minutes he’s been craving. He’s been noticeably reserved in his reactions to us after games. I think a lot down to not wanting to look like Jurgen and his fist bumps etc. Rather just portraying the calm exterior look. But that mask has been slipping of late. And he really milked the applause and gave it back at length yesterday after the final whistle. Not Jurgen style. But in his own, more reserved, yet equally excited/ respectful way. A mutual appreciation of both just how excellent his sides display had been. And how we’d just experienced the next step on this unstoppable procession to #20 together. As one.

Yesterday also, yet again, put to bed in glorious technicolour, a complete football myth/ untruth that many Reds have madly pushed once more of late. The falsehood that L’pool struggle with low block/ bottom half of the table teams. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ This season alone, our record against the bottom 10 sides is P 12 W 11 D 1 F 35 A 10 CS 6. And we’re 8 wins from 8 against the bottom 10 away from home. Utterly mad that anyone panics leading up to a game against a bottom half side and trots that nonsense out. It’s something Roy Keane would do to get a reaction.

NEVER go full Roy Keane!!!!! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Talking of the absolute maniac bleep that is Roy Keane and the utter twaddle he spouts …..

Trent Alexander-Arnold can’t defend. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️His horrendous outing against Utd aside, Trent has been superb both ends of the pitch all season long. As he was again yesterday in a game in which, were it not for Dom's excellence, he’d have been the clear MOTM. Is he the best defensive right full out there? Not at all. But his defending has got better and better as he’s grown in the position. And, coupled with his ability on the ball to do what NO other player at the position can remotely come close to (THAT cross for Cody’s second …..🤤🤤), he’s by a considerable distance the best right full back in World football. And its imperative we tie him down. Conors a superb back-up. But Trent's on an island all of his own.

And yet again yesterday, AndyRobbo showed the other side he’s still one of the best around when he’s had some rest. That’s the key now. Managing his minutes. Do that, as Arne has been once more since Tsimikas has been back, and we still have one of the best one-two punchers at both FB slots as any team across Europe.

Now onto creating more history this week and going 8 out of 8 in the new CL format as we switch to the next leg of what’s more and more becoming a VERY realistic quadruple charge.

We’re gonna’ win the Football League AGAIN!’ getting an airing in January at Anfield. Can’t beat it! 😁

Up the relentless Red machine!

ONLY in the PL would Enciso's challenge on Endo be a yellow and Lewis Skelly's be a straight red.

Honestly thought Endo had broken his jaw yesterday. Still baffling me this AM how the Ipswich lad didn't walk? That was flat out assault and then some. And the ref was 5 yards away looking straight at it!

Interesting reading this AM just why Endo wears a gumshield. Which at least protected his teeth after the knee to the face-

*From Endo's book Duel, explaining the influence of Japanese dentist Jun Miyagawa.

“It’s become so important to me that I can say that I’m afraid to play soccer without it,” Endo wrote.

“I first started using it when I met a dentist named Jun Miyagawa who lives in Germany.''

“Mr. Miyagawa explained to me that: ‘Even monkeys have beautiful teeth, it’s only humans who get their teeth loose’, and that ‘resetting the jaw joint to its proper position will improve both the mind and body’.''

“The most important point of a mouthpiece is to protect your teeth.''

“Soccer is a contact sport, and although it is not as common as rugby or American football, it is possible for teeth to break due to impact, it happens often. My first goal was to prevent that.''

“I no longer have the fear of breaking my teeth, I started to be able to hit ‘one vs. one’ with all my might.''

“In addition, by continuing to be conscious of the position of my jaw it allows me to relax. It’s now an absolutely indispensable tool when I’m on the pitch.”
