You wonder how bad the broken promises have been at Newcastle for him to want out that bad. The vitriol from Newcastle fans really has been an eye opener when this is ALL on their own club.

It’s been bad enough the abuse slung L’pool’s way when all we’ve done is put a bid in, the way transfers go, and then stepped right back until they encourage us to bid again after it was rejected. Saying nothing publicly or briefing anything about this to the press bar we have stepped right back.

But the abuse now being directed at Isak is something else. Yeah, it’s never nice when a player is forced down this road. But this is ALL Newcastles own doing with their lies and misleading, unfulfilled promises to him. Maybe if you hadn’t promised him a contract extension, twice, and never followed through on that, you and he wouldn’t be in this situation now? Maybe if you’d not mislead him and everyone else who’s signed there and is unhappy, at the project you sold them on that you haven’t fulfilled with top additions, he’d still have a good relationship with you? Instead of P him off to the extent that he told you he wanted to move this summer well before last season ended. To at least allow Newcastle plenty of time to bring replacements in.

But your club did lie and mislead your star player down the garden path. And then madly tried to save face by trying to stand in his way this summer forcing him down this ugly road to get out.

Look at your own club who this is ALL on. And not L’pool, who have done things in a respectful, proper manner. Nor the player you didn’t fulfill promises to and who you tried to then have stay against his wishes.

Been a real eye opener on Geordies this and just what a bunch of absolute, entitled A-holes they actually are. And it’s not just us either. Utd fans got it in spades from them when they lost out on Sesko.

Understand you are a nothing club in reality with money. Who pale n significance when it comes to L’pool and Utd. You might become a big club and get to our level one day. But understand you are what you are and this is your place on the football food chain. Saudi riches behind you or not.

What promises are you talking about. I’ve followed Ornsteins updates from day dot to now and he’s never mentioned once about Newcastle promising Isak anything. On the contrary all I see is Newcastle offering a contract on bigger wages and then offering him a contract on bigger wages with a release clause next season. Quite frankly the way he’s going about it isn’t great and isn’t likely helping. Liverpool shouldn’t be getting any abuse that I agree.

Yeah that’s fair. Well he should sit tight them act professional turn up for training etc. And let the clubs come to an agreement. I could understand if Newcastle would have flat out said no your staying end of. But that’s never been the case. They want the figure they want and are entitled to.

For someone with a continued fascination with Italian football, I’ve honestly never watched Giovanni Leoni play in a full game. I knew of the growing buzz around him. It’s hard not to when you’ve an interest in Serie A when he’s commonly been referred to as the new Cannavaro in Italy! And as soon as Chivu replaced Inzaghi at Inter, I honestly thought he was nailed on for the Nerazzurri. A 6’5, rapid quick, powerful, physical beast already at 18, Leoni seemed a superb fit at Inter to learn from one of the very best CH’s in the World and form the next great catenaccio rear guard the Italian’s excel in.

And he now will be learning from the Worlds best. Just from a big Dutchman in Liverpool rather than Barella in Milan!

On the face of it, it seems more outstanding business from Hughes, with all his Italian connections, to future proof L’pool with the top young defensive prospect in a Country that excels in the position. With the added bonus that he’ll be classed as homegrown in 3 years like Frimpong. And a leftie to boot making him the seemingly perfect heir apparent to VVD. All at age 18 with a good 15 years and more ahead of him. But still, the element of doubt remains as again, I’ve never seen him in a full game.

But then I read one of the greatest coaches to ever live on him, and I’m 100% sold that this signing could turn out to be as inspired and special as when we signed the big Dutchman who Leoni openly admires and bases his game on.

Had high hopes for Doak but he’s just got little to his game bar rapid speed. You can get away with that the Championship but it’ll be a struggle for him the PL without any difference making ability.
