Al Hilal reach agreement in principle with Liverpool to sign Darwin Nunez. €53m + adds in place verbally. #LFC striker indicating willingness to accept. Steps needed to finalise but would be huge recruit for #AlHilal @TheAthleticFC post @FabrizioRomano

As much as I adore the mad *******, it’s time.

Love the lad to bits. He’ll always be a cult hero among the match going support,

But that chance he missed from 6 yards out unopposed in Japan sums him up perfectly. No consistency at all in his game. He’s just not improved and got it under two top notch coaches now in Klopp and Slot. Despite massive backing and way more chances than his form has deserved. And the chances are he never will.

It’s time to part ways.

All the best Darwin lad. You’ll always be a Red.

Liverpool FC can confirm Darwin Nunez has completed a permanent transfer to Al-Hilal, subject to international clearance.Everybody at the club would like to thank Darwin for his contributions and wish him and his family all the best for the future.

Well deserved Palace. Better team overall. VAR tried to ruin it but the right team won.

Pool showed flashes with the exciting players upfront especially the new additions. But Salah was invisible and starved as everything went through Wirtz. Kirkez and Frimpong looked good going forward. But Pool in CM and at the back looked average at best. Gravenberch is a huge miss!

Palace gonna be a big issue for a lot of teams this season.

Yeah that backline will take some time getting used to, especially playing the defensive line as Kerkez was too deep at times. Well deserved to Palace as they came with a gameplan in that second half and delivered. Salah and Van Dijk had absolute stinkers and the latter didn't look match fit to me but hey, it's a glorified friendly if you don't win right :ROFLMAO: 🤷‍♂️

Yeah Van Dijk looked waaaay off it. Tbh i know it’s for a trophy and the main stuff starts the weekend coming. But what was noticeable as the match went on was how much fitter Palace looked than Pool. I’m sure it will click eventually for you guys. Well you’d hope. I still don’t see the point in going all out for Isak when you can see the depth in CM and CB ain’t good enough imo.

CM is fine once the fitness returns, as we have Macca, Gravenberch, Szbo, Curtis and Wirtz with Endo as the closer. Thats more than good enough to compete in all competitions. Its CB that is the issue but Isak is a signing if you have the chance to make you go for it. He raises the ceiling of this already electric attack and gives us someone to take the mantle away from Salah eventually as he declines.

Them CM options except Gravenberch and Macca aren’t great imo. Jones is a decent squad player but you would not want to rely on him there in to many games. And signing Wirtz for big money like that would be a massive waste. But I guess it would be an emergency option. And Szbo reminds me of Fernandes playing there for us lol. Just not good enough or disciplined enough. The quality in depth isn’t there imo mate to really challenge on all fronts. You will need your main 2 to stay fit pretty much the whole season.

I sort of agree with Isak in terms of some players you just have to go for (same with us and Baleba) but still think the money could be better spent to make your squad deeper overall. All things said your definately up there as one of the faves 100%!

Agree to disagree Curtis is more than good enough to come in and play a role and Szbo has looked terrific during pre season playing deeper, just need to learn that he can't take risks on the ball. Some great plays today from him but football fans can be fickle and just remember him turning over the ball. We'll see but for me its just about getting the team to gel as quickly as possible and the first 25mins showed their quality. Get points on the board as quickly as possible and get the fitness up.

Yeah can do a job there but as seen today against proper CMs who Harry and press and are athletic he will get swollen up just like Fernandes does for us and will like me the biggest reason we struggle in games this season unless we adress it. Agree on your fitness it didn’t look good after 50 mins. And your still well more than good enough to get the points on the board!

Alexander Isak adamant he will not play for Newcastle again. Even if window closes without exit 25yo views #NUFC career over + no wish to reintegrate. Club say not for sale
You wonder how bad the broken promises have been at Newcastle for him to want out that bad. The Saudi PR will be in full swing to paint him as a villain, but its hilarious watching them be this incompetent considering he told them a year in advance either pay me what I'm worth as you value me that high, or simply sell me a year later.

Tbh it’s not looking good on the club and his part

The vitriol from Newcastle fans really has been an eye opener when this is ALL on their own club.

It’s been bad enough the abuse slung L’pool’s way when all we’ve done is put a bid in, the way transfers go, and then stepped right back until they encourage us to bid again after it was rejected. Saying nothing publicly or briefing anything about this to the press bar we have stepped right back.

But the abuse now being directed at Isak is something else. Yeah, it’s never nice when a player is forced down this road. But this is ALL Newcastles own doing with their lies and misleading, unfulfilled promises to him. Maybe if you hadn’t promised him a contract extension, twice, and never followed through on that, you and he wouldn’t be in this situation now? Maybe if you’d not mislead him and everyone else who’s signed there and is unhappy, at the project you sold them on that you haven’t fulfilled with top additions, he’d still have a good relationship with you? Instead of P him off to the extent that he told you he wanted to move this summer well before last season ended. To at least allow Newcastle plenty of time to bring replacements in.

But your club did lie and mislead your star player down the garden path. And then madly tried to save face by trying to stand in his way this summer forcing him down this ugly road to get out.

Look at your own club who this is ALL on. And not L’pool, who have done things in a respectful, proper manner. Nor the player you didn’t fulfill promises to and who you tried to then have stay against his wishes.

Been a real eye opener on Geordies this and just what a bunch of absolute, entitled A-holes they actually are. And it’s not just us either. Utd fans got it in spades from them when they lost out on Sesko.

Understand you are a nothing club in reality with money. Who pale n significance when it comes to L’pool and Utd. You might become a big club and get to our level one day. But understand you are what you are and this is your place on the football food chain. Saudi riches behind you or not.

What promises are you talking about. I’ve followed Ornsteins updates from day dot to now and he’s never mentioned once about Newcastle promising Isak anything. On the contrary all I see is Newcastle offering a contract on bigger wages and then offering him a contract on bigger wages with a release clause next season. Quite frankly the way he’s going about it isn’t great and isn’t likely helping. Liverpool shouldn’t be getting any abuse that I agree.

Read the impartial Newcastle journalists.

Impartial 🤣🤣

Yes, impartial. As in they haven’t taken the club or players side and just told it like it is all summer. Downey and Hope, bar the one night he let his fan frustrations get the better of him, have been superb in reporting the inside story here all summer long. And not just Isak either. Forget which one was saying it’s becoming well talked about between players across football that the Newcastle project isn’t anything like what players who’ve signed have been sold on. And that’s 2 Geordie Newcastle fans who just happen to be journalists covering the team.

Reddy put up a great article too detailing where it’s all gone wrong internally at Newcastle with players with no club structure and broken promises.
