We're not signing any full backs, Rodgers has already said. Bit disappointing, but I think Enrique's due back soon ish.

Seen that Konoplonyijrefiorejoigehfcofdhovehojda fella for Ukraine a few times, seems like a brilliant dribbler, lot of people seem to rate him.

Do hope we sign a midfielder too

He's pretty capable playing in any of the attacking midfield areas but he's definitely going to be playing on the left given that was the weakest of the front positions. Gives more options and means that there are more great options going forward.

If anything with him coming in it does free up Coutinho from playing out on the left, which could see him dropping deeper and more central like he did against Everton.

Just got home and watch a few videos of him. Wow. **** what I said about needing DMs. Sign him up Rodgers!

Gerrard - Henderson
Coutinho
Suarez - Sturridge - Konoplyanka

4-3-3 basically, but could easily be changed by dropping an extra midfielder in against the bigger sides.. and also allows us to use Sterling as rotation and not to burn him out

Does look the most ideal situation in terms of midfield and upfront, Coutinho put in a fair amount of work defensively in the middle, hopefully it was just a case of he was a bit lost out wide.
So like you said a 4-3-3 with Allen, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson and Coutinho taking up the middle three, Sterling, Konoplyanka, Sturridge, Suarez taking up the front three.

Throw in the likes of Ibe, Alberto and Moses and the clubs starting to get some depth going, just need less players out injured now.

Wonder if Cou could be trained to play a bit deeper, almost as a third midfielder, changing to #10 when we're in posession.

does seem like this Ukrainian fella's target #1, but I think we're looking at DMs too

If we sign Konoplyanka, we don't really need another midfielder, since we'll have Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Gerrard and Coutinho all being able to play in two/three deep-lying midfield positions, or in a pivot. What we really need is a left-back, or right-back, to be honest - Johnson's off-form/injured; Enriqu?'s not up-to-scratch; Cissokho's **** and Flanagan's still relatively unproven. If we can sign a full-back before the window closes, we're pretty much set for the season.

I like Enrique, solid defender and contributes in attack on occasions

But i do disagree about not needed a new midfielder. We really do need a holding midfielder, Lucas is the only natural one we have

Enrique's not great, and he's poor attacking, but he's better than Cissokho. Solid enough defence wise though

Good week for Liverpool so far, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton, Newcastle all dropping points.

I meant he's not up-to-scratch at the moment, because he's been out with an injury; not he's not good enough as a player. And the thing with signing a defensive-midfielder is that, although I agree Lucas is the only natural one we have, we'll end up with too much depth in the central-midfield positions (see my previous post), which will result in some good players not being able to play, and money wasted. See my previous post - we have four natural central-midfielders, and Coutinho can also fill in there.

It means more squad depth, more quality coming off the bench when we need to slightly change things... although it may not be needed as much now as we are not in Europe, we'll need alot stronger squad in pretty much every position to compete if we qualify for europe

Konoplyanka would be a good player. Would still be great if we could bring a defensive midfielder in, even if it's on loan. Preferably Inler or de Jong :P

Anyone notice that if we beat West Brom [which we can], and City beat Chelsea [which they might], we will be 1 point off third with a better GD.

Hypothetical situation I know, but that's not a bad position for the team that finished 7th last year to be in.

Very good situation to be in.. need to take advantage when other top teams are playing each other

Ryan McLaughlin has extended his loan at Barnsley to the end of the season and Ngoo is off on loan at Walsall.
