I'd second Rodgers being manager of the year aswell. He's just been absolutely tremondous this year and that cannot be denied, regardless if it's because of not being in competitions or not. Even if they don't get the title (and I think they may just get it) no other manager deserves it more than Brendan.

And that is a fact.

Agree on Rodgers. He should win it if and only if Liverpool win the title. Frankly, the last person who should win it is Pelligerini. He had the best squad in the league by a fair margin and has still made a meal out of the title race

Apart from Pulis, at this time. But he won't get it regardless. I'm not bitter. **** you all

Rodgers has done an excellent job. Pulis has performed a miracle even Jesus would have shaken his head at.

Lack of European games and early exits from both cups meant Liverpool could concentrate solely on the league from January. Not to mention Liverpool had a weeks rest more often than not before league games. Pelligerini and Mourinho can only dream of having such lax schedule. Will be very interesting to see how the Liverpool squad cope next season ...
This is such a poor and overused excuse. If we were in Europe, it wouldn't make too much difference because we would then have the money to strengthen - the only issue would be who to spend it on. The point is: teams that qualify for the Champions League get the money needed to strengthen by bonuses received when they qualify/progress.

It's easy to forget that regardless of Europe, you all TRIED to strengthen more. The list of missed targets this season is pretty huge.
But surely that's the point? If we were in the Champions League, then we probably would've got those targets.

Not really. He had to sign many of the players himself, and you have to also consider that this was a squad which finished 11 points behind the league leaders last season, so he's done a decent job to improve the squad and still be favourites for the league.

Oh definitely, we just didn't want to break the bank, that and mixed with the fact the targets we were after had the choice between teams in the CL and us. When we finally wanted to bite the bullet and sign someone, Dnipro's owner decided to stall

If we had been in Europe, we'd have strengthened more. We weren't, so we didn't.

Thats the same as saying that if Chelsea bought a striker, they would be leading the league. It's a fair guess but pointless to argue over

It's not a guess, it would have happened... also the amount of players sent out on loan probably would have been halved.. the likes of Suso, Borini, Assaidi would have all probably stayed knowing they would have some game time in cup comps and europe

Maybe, maybe. It's all hypothesising really. You'd have been a lot more likely to get them I'll grant you, but the likes of Mkhitaryan would still have gone to Dortmund I reckon.

I'd have been massively surprised if he didn't, us being in CL might have helped out on the likes of Salah and such but the bigger names would have still gone the way they have in my eyes.

I'd put Rodgers in as favourite to win MOTY currently, if we win the league it's certain he'll get it. Hard to deny the small miracle Pulis has pulled out though, if it were a bigger club I could see him winning it but sadly he'll more than likely get overlooked.

I doubt the likes of Suso, Borini, Assaidi (and Ilori, don't forget!) would've developed as well at the club, though, even if they got game time in the cup competitions.

Yeah, Mkhitaryan would probably have gone to Dortmund, since Ian Ayre/the negotiating team seem to be incompetent (well, they're too stubborn in negotiations at least). Dortmund are/were a better side than us anyway, so it wouldn't be surprising.

Pulis, Bruce and Pochettino have all done very well at their respective clubs, but obviously don't get the praise they deserve because they're managing 'smaller clubs'.

They wouldn't but we would need the numbers.. was only saying it as even if we didn't sign anyone we had numbers to cope in other comps

I think that Coutinho will be the leading star for years to come , who agrees?

Oh right; fair enough.

Coutinho will be key for us in the coming seasons, but what's most exciting about this team is how young it is. The likes of Mignolet, Sakho, Flanagan, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge are still fairly young, so they should all play a big part in the future. I can't wait to see this team at its peak!

Sterling's been better than him this season.

Sterling's actually playing his best as a #10, rather than Cou.

Problem with Cou is how he constantly tries to force the through ball even when he doesn't need to, he needs to be more patient

So directly the opposite to problem to Cleverley then.

Very attacking formation with both Sterling and Cou in the starting XI. Gonna be a huge game for Gerrard in that Holding Role. So excited and nervous about the game today. Cannot wait.

Please. For the love of all that is holy. Do not let that lot win today. PLEASE.
