Have said it before,Stevie cant play as a DM he cant mark.Especially with Suarez gone he cant use his long balls. The best performance i have seen so far from the skipper was (i cant recall the game) when he played behind balotelli for last 20 min.

Rodgers must find a different role for him and soon as we are at verge of loosing Lucas (who i really like) pretty soon.

Its mind boggling how many people will scapegoat Lovren, Johnson and Balotelli instead of actually talking about the elephant in the room which is Steven Gerrard. He simply doesn't have the positional discipline to play a holding role in front of the back 4 and Rodgers needs to address this

I do agree it is looking far more likely that the deal will not work out, but i refuse to write anybody off after such a short amount of time

His attitude, work rate doesn't work in the current set up but when Sturridge returns he will be a lot better suited. Ive said it so many times but the only evidence of that was when we won 3-0 away at Tottenham and looked the best we have by a long way this season

Agree with this mate. Don't think it's fair to judge him yet until he plays alongside Sturridge when he should be much better. He is also desperately short of confidence which isn't helping

Watch Glen Johnson at His Best Vs Chelsea on Saturday | 90min

I'll never understand how people can defend this.

He had some good moments as well ... Hazard would have scored a couple if it wasn't for him

Instead of making Johnson the scapegoat as usual, have a look at Gerrards performance. He had an absolute shocker. Left the defense exposed time and time again

Because 'people' pick out the worst things to prove and point and dont look at the whole picture.

As Alcaraz said, Johnson made some very important blocks in the game which went completely unnoticed and in a similar situation, Lovren must cleared the ball 5-10 times from pieces but they score from one and it's immediately him

I dont follow other clubs like i do Liverpool obviously, but most of the fans are absolutely terrible. So, so fickle

I feel pretty sorry for him because last season our team was fantastic attacking wise and we chose to have a DM that added to the attack (Long balls, pinpoint passes ETC)

But now that pace and movement has been lost, Gerrard cant do any of those things so people are looking for his defensive attributes when everybody knows he cannot play the holding role

I think the game against Chelsea was evident. How easily did Chelsea get through our midfield yet Matic was an absolute colossus in that role

I love Gerrard but you can only play him DM when we have the players in the attacking third

If anything it seems to be the other way around. He's consistently poor 90% of the time (when I've watched him at least) but because he occasionally pulls off a good run or actually does some defending, people claim he's unfairly victimised.

Yep he's **** back there as well. Better off higher up the pitch imo

Johnson made a block. Man of the match to that player for making a block when he's playing in defence. ******* fantastic.

He should block the odd ******* cross as well.

I wouldn't say its the elephant in the room. I don't know anyone who thinks Gerrard is a good DM. I'm more frustrated with the stubbornness of Brendan Rodgers. I'm afraid to say I haven't noticed it until this season when it was staring me in the face last season. For example the Crystal Palace and Chelsea games.

Is it the the other way around!? I see constant hate for the man

The case of Gerrard is in my opinion similar to that of Lampard. They both require freedom to go ahead, and are bad at defending. Bad, not terrible.
If someone would see them play the holding role, without knowing them, would probably think how in god's name do these guys make the first team.
Two people gave me "nightmares" some years ago: Fergie and Gerrard. These days, I sleep like a baby.

I am speaking purely from the Chelsea game standpoint where he didn't do much wrong and let's face it, Liverpool have far bigger problems than him at the moment so can't see why he is being singled out

Still remember how Falcao tore us to shreds in the Super Cup because of Lampard's incompetence in a pivot ... That game still gives me nightmares

On twitter after sturridge injury "I just Googled "Iago Aspas recall clause." I need help professional help so much help." :D

I wonder if Brendan Rodgers is going to apologise to Roy Hodgson after he criticised Roy's training methods for Daniel Sturridge on England duty and not resting him between matches, as he has now been injured twice or broken down in Liverpool training sessions since his last England call up.

Will be interesting to see how Sturridge comes back. He might be hesitant to use his full speed for few months.
