And be in almost exactly the same position as at Liverpool - Would be a silly move, just like Suarez's potential move before

Not really. Arsenal are still better equipped going forwards than Liverpool. Would start at City too.

People are quick to turn on Sterling, but he is here because of Liverpool not capitalising in the transfer market. Much like Mascherano and Torres, and indeed Suarez. Sterling would probably move to United too if not for the fact Liverpool would block every attempt.

Sterling should stay at Liverpool and develop, but I understand why he's stalling on his contract. He's one of your best players, so why shouldn't he hold out for more money? As much as money plays a part it's not just down to that, it seems to me like he's waiting to see if you qualify for the CL this season. Also Pool fans saying that last season he would've signed a deal but for less money so stalling on this deal doesn't make sense, you've also got to take into account that last season you were pushing to win the BPL, whereas this season you've gone backwards. Still Sterling would be a mug to leave, but I get why he'd potentially want too.

Arsenal are slightly better, not significantly... Man City would be a move you would expect. A side that will be competing for every trophy almost every year

Arsenal are your slightly better than Liverpool but always behind the rest side - not a good step up to be kicking up all this fuss

Unfortunately Liverpool have not got the capabilities to capitalise in the transfer market

Every top player who is available will go to clubs who can offer them better finances and more consistent success

Except for CL :P

Did he really say that he is flattered by the arsenal interest? That's what every liverpool wants to hear days before the game.

Sterling isn't in love with Liverpool, much as he appreciates them. First and foremost he wants to be the best he can be, get paid well, and win trophies. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't mean he will needlessly tie himself there.

Fun Fact: Sterling supports Man United

He probably doesn't need to say he's flattered by rivals during an important run in.

Also be funny to see how the media/pundits might turn on him since he might want out of the media's darling club.

darling club? he doesnt play for utd

Why would it be career suicide? If he goes somewhere like Arsenal he would thrive.

i doubt arsenal are willing to pay the stupid sum being thrown around for sterling. i only see chelsea or madrid or city. espicially city with their homegrown problems.

He'll be **** at Arsenal. Can see him being Walcott the 2nd. Big hype but didn't quite turn up.

walcott just a better finisher, sterling for all his faults has prob got more to his game

It would be more man up for sterling to stand up and say that he he wants trophies and the team is not capable to give him at the moment so he wants to leave. All this I am 20 years old and want trophies and success don't judge me for asking a raise is kinda stupid. How does he expect to accept that statement when he says that in the press but he does something completely different with his actions? Yeah sterling you are 20! and that is why you do NOT deserve this wage! you have not earned the right to ask for it with your performance. Hary Kane for example got doubled his wage but that guys is top scorer in BPL! where is Sterling?:/

Down there, playing the wingback.

Isn't FSG's strategy supposed to be buying young talents and growing them, in order to avoid an inflated transfer market we can't compete in? And isn't Sterling in reality the embodiment of said strategy? In other words, we have a player we bought for peanuts who has established himself on our first team and on the national team at the age of 20. Shouldn't we be willing to stretch in order to keep him here then? If we sell him, isn't that basically saying "we're a farmer club, a pit stop"?

Unless of course our goal is to grow top class talents and/or world class players, and pay them half of what other clubs are willing to pay. I don't think it's even necessary to point out how stupid that would be.

For FSG, selling Sterling would be good business. We paid very little for him, and we'll be able to get a pretty nice fee for him. But as a club, it's a total failure. And it's starting to become a tendency tbh. Owen, Torres, Suarez, now Sterling? Who's next? Coutinho and Can?

We could end up taking one step forward and one step back, over and over and over again. Which is pretty much what we've been doing the past 25 years. Every time we take a step forward, a step back follows.

And we could easily end up blaming the player instead of the strategy. Sterling is greedy. Torres was a Judas. Suarez was crazy. Owen was an *******. "The player wanted more money, we did what we could". Off to scout for a new talent. Buy him as a teenager, grow him into a top-class talent. Sell him after he makes his breakthrough. And on and on we go. A certain Limahl song comes to mind.

He wants to win trophies but flattered by Arsenal's interest? Interesting.
