I bet most of you are really excited to see Ings in Liverpool kit. I hope for your sake you'll sign another, better striker.

Lol. To be fair, Ings has been just about the worst kept secret in football the past 2 months. The only question has been how much he'll ultimately end up costing L'pool.

Very happy now it's 'officially' confirmed. Growing young forward who add's both better depth than what we have and a threat off the bench that has to be accounted for. And one who's still young enough to mould with better coaching. All for next to nothing.

Worth adding that Lambert was brought in as a back-up last year for a similar fee to what Ings will cost... Lambert was worth the gamble for such a small output

Ings however, fits the style of Liverpool a lot better. He has good movement, pace and at just 22 can improve and be sold on even if it doesn't work out at Liverpool

See this is the thing.

Everyone is talking rubbish already about Liverpool's lack of ambition yet it is the beginning of June... Hardly any teams have signed players yet

Fair enough, if come September Ings is one of our main/starting strikers then all these comments are valid, but wait until September as its glaringly obvious Ings, at the moment, is nothing more than a back-up striker

Liverpool are in for another striker, that much is obvious

Reading yourself on Utd the irony there is so thick it's blinding, but again, feel free to mock at your leisure.

Those that know on Coutinho, which is growing by the game, know.

Yeah, I was rating all the United players as the best in their position isn't it.

Lambert would of been if we'd had any real intention of using him. On the face it, it was a no loss signing. Something different off the bench who gave a threat in the air. But the way he's been used/ treated has been pretty darn disgraceful by the club. The vast majority of his outings have been a few minutes at the end of games, which is no use to anyone. Often in the hope he'll rescue something. And when he has started, he's been isolated on his own which has been as bad as doing the same to Mario. Neither played to their respective strengths at all.

And the way the club handled the Villa bid in January was **** poor. They knew Rodgers didn't want him as part of the group. They knew he'd hardly play from that point out. But to then finally accept the £ 5 million bid from Villa so late on deadline day to leave Ricky in a no win situation with no time to weigh the move up for him and his family was both a disgrace to Lambert, who's just got on with it and never complained once so happy has he been to be at his boyhood club; and a detriment to the club that we would of unbelievably made a profit on him which has well disappeared now.

Chances are he would of been playing regularly for Villa the second half of the season and been playing in a Cup final.

As limited as he is, and as poor as he's been, I really feel sorry for the way Ricky's been treated at Anfield.

I think it simply came down to that he wasn't good enough to play for Liverpool... The managers and coaching staff see these players day in-day out

Like you said though, It's not exactly a loss as it was such a small fee and he was only brought in as a back-up/ plan B anyway

Oh, no question he's nowhere near good enough to play for Liverpool.

But the way they handled the Villa bid and as good as forced him to stay knowing that with absolutely no intention of playing him was disgraceful from the club to Ricky IMHO.

Potentially cost him a Cup final which he's never likely to experience all things being equal.

his injury record isnt so good though. but atleast we signed a player that suits us for once. so cant complain.

i doubt he is going to leave his family and friends mid way towards the season. for those saying he isnt good enough, i agree but it doesnt help if your being played as target man when rickie lambert has more to his game then meets the eye.

Don't know about lack of ambition, but if for some reason Ings is signed to be main stirker, then I would doubt Liverpools common sense. But like you said, Liverpool are in for another striker, surely. Hopefully.

Oh, talking to one of the beat guys we're friendly with he say's there's every chance he'd of gone to Villa. He loves Liverpool but the chance of regular football at this stage meant more. But when Liverpool finally decided to accept it was far too late in the day to sit down with his family and talk everything over.

He is not the main striker or at least that is the idea as of now... It's early on and Liverpool are doing deals for the players who's contracts are up

The next few months will really show Liverpool's ambitions/ capabilities in the transfer market

Nice to see us doing some good early business, without spending much money too.
My point of view exactly, as long as we continue wisely.

Edit: What I like the most of our two signing so far is the desire to play for our team. That is what we need.

I like him. If we still had Suarez and Sturridge, and Ings was as back-up I'd be thrilled. As it is, the prospect of Ings and Benteke lining up for us in August is depressing.

This picture epitomises everything that is wrong with our striker situation.

Having said that, the stats are very misleading. Mins played:

Ings - 3035
Sterling - 3053 (not a striker)
Balotelli - 939
Lambert - 823
Sturridge - 749

It doesn't take away from the fact we have been awful at scoring goals, but none of our players apart from Sterling have finished/ started most of their games.

Thankfully after the Cup final everyone seems to be stepping back from Benteke at the well over priced release clause.
