Yes it is a step up, even if its a small one

I also dont think it is the last one available to him yet... Spanish newspapers/journalist and BT Sports on air tonight reported Madrid are likely to contact Liverpool over Suarez

Just all depends on the Bale deal and how stubborn Levy is regarding that deal

Just a question.. where do you think he'll end up?

From the looks of it now, Arsenal. Certainly not Liverpool, at least I don't see how he can possibly stay now. And Levy is crazy if he turns down what Madrid are offering for Bale.

Interesting situation.

Cant see Arsenal giving what Liverpool want, Cant see him staying at Liverpool after what he has said but i also Cant see Bale staying at Spurs

Something has obviously got to change either way

All depends on the clause. If the clause says anything over 40mil and Liverpool have to sell then hes at Arsenal. But if it says 40m and they will start to negotiate and Liverpool say they want north of 50m I think he will stay at Liverpool. Arsenal wont offer more than 50m and Real can't if they get Bale because of financial fair play. But if Bale stays at Spurs then hes at Real Madrid next year.

Well then, that'd be Arsenal's problem, not Liverpool's.

It's still a step up, whatever spin you want to put on it, and the last one available to him.
I agree completely with what you're saying about him being in his prime and how it's the only concrete move for him right now, but I think you are being overly-pessimistic about his chances by saying the move is 'the last one available to him'. Yes, Madrid are unlikely to move for him, and many other European clubs are also set, but he has just had possibly the best season of his career at a struggling club.

Despite his 'baggage', he is still one of the best players in the Premier League, and I'm sure some other club will move for him this summer, or in January. You have to remember, some clubs may spend for the sake of spending, or even for intent, and signing Suárez would really signal intent. Chelsea, Bayern and the two big French clubs could possibly be interested in him, should Liverpool relent in their efforts to block his move.

Chelsea need a proven goalscorer at this level; Bayern have just lost Gomez, Lewandowski is not joining this summer and they are known to splash out (sometimes needlessly); and PSG and Monaco may want to further bolster their strikeforce. You talk about them having their pick of the world's young players, but who says they want to buy young? Generally, tycoon-owned clubs want immediate success à la City, so they splash out on established stars.

If you think this is tl;dr, then here's a summary: it's naïve to think clubs only buy when they need to, and he is not exactly in the worst form of his career, despite his misgivings off the pitch.

Think you're abit behind mate haha

PFA chief Gordon Taylor has came out tonight and said there is no clause in his contract... its down to which ever clubs want him to agree a fee with Liverpool now

I can see Arsenal making sure it goes through, if they truly want to be ambitious. Who's their backup plan? And Arsenal is already Suarez' back up plan.

There's concrete interest from Arsenal, do you really expect Suarez to stay just on the off chance some other club comes from nowhere and decides to make a luxury signing? It's realism, not pessimism. If Suarez truly believed he had a chance at a foreign move, he'd be talking as he was a couple months ago when he thought he'd be off to Madrid, not cosying up to the British press who were "forcing him out".

i have a spare 50cal sniper rifle if any pool fan can think of a use for it

I still don't see how you can say we are no closer to challenging for trophies with Suarez. I understand it's not a one man sport but still.

you are closer, but still along way off... remember RVP? As good a striker as Suarez is and you still struggled to challenge

Don't get me wrong, I think Wenger is a great manager who has got a good squad at Arsenal for peanuts, but you are nowhere near challenging for any major honours anytime soon. On paper, you are a team challenging for the Champions League spots, but on the pitch, the team is not that consistent.

I would actually say RVP was better than Suárez, and still is, but it is a close call. He's much more clinical, anyway.

RvP was also our only main striker, we would now have Giroud, Podolski, Walcott and Suarez that are all goal scoring threats. We also didn't have Cazorla behind them. A defender and possibly another midfielder and I believe we have a very good possibility of challenging for trophies.

RVP's last season rest of our squad was poorer than it is now. Many players are on different level compared to that time ( example Walcott / Koscielny ) Defense is much better than what it was then. Still Suarez alone isn't enough I agree.

I honestly think it will be best for suarez's career if he stays with us for 1 more year, don't get me wrong I like Arsenal, I was even at the emirates on Saturday (cockney friend had spare ticket) and I think they will be back near the top of English football in about 3 years. However if he stays with us 1 more year and then leaves he could easily have a madrid, bayern or dortmund coming in for him and they would certainly be better than Arsenal will be in a years time. And surely not even suarez could leave Arsenal after just 1 year.

This is all assuming of course that Madrid don't come in for him this year, cus if they do he can leave for £50mil and everyone will be happy, barring Arsenal fans.

If Suarez does go to Arsenal then he will leave in 2 years time to either City or Madrid. Slight chance of him going to PSG. I think Ibra would have left by then.

I wasn't comparing who was better, i was just pointing out that they had a top class striker before and they were no way near challenging

Yes, they have a better squad now but it is still miles away that of City, Chelsea and United

If Madrid came now for him you'd accept something in region of 35m for him just to ship him out of Prem.

But Arsenal fans are always unhappy. Them lot have always got something to moan about.

You do make a fair point but I still think you would not realistically be challenging for trophies. You now have an improved strikeforce (by miles) and a stronger midfield with Cazorla, but defence? Koscielny has improved drastically, but Vermaelen and Sagna's demises pretty much cancels that out. Again, when you play well, you are a force to be reckoned with, but the problem is the other three, four squads in the league which are stronger than you.

I still can't decide if Arsenal fans actually want him, I mean, he's a top player, but do they want the trouble of having a person like him? A £50 million move to Madrid would benefit all, I'd say, bar the rest of La Liga.

Aha probably, I'd hope we might be able to get 40-45 out of them as their not exactly poor, and this would require Bale not going.

But Arsenal fans are always unhappy. Them lot have always got something to moan about.

Yh, I have a few friends that are Arsenal fans and i seem to like Wenger more than all of them! They were really angry at the weekend aswell, certainly not a patient lot...

Was a neutral in that game until they started booing Pepe, then I couldn't resit the lure of Rafa.

There's reason for booing Pepe. He was one of Spain heroes who forced that Barca shirt on Cesc. Some people remember these things and then large crowds follow and so on.
