What do you think the odds are of Sociedad getting knocked out of the CL by Lyon? Would love to see Griezmann at the club but I think they'll get into the groups. Greizmann and Coutinho in midfield would be exciting. 10 goals and 5 assists last season is quite decent and he's only, what, 22?

However I think we have missed out getting another holding midfielder especially seeing Wanyama going to Southampton and Capoue going to Tottenham... :(

Greizmann would be a very good signing... maybe possible IF Soceidad get knocked out by Lyon, which is a possibility

Dont think Liverpool are genuinely after a holding midfielder, Rodgers seems to feel Lucas can cover that role with Allen and Henderson as back ups

I'm slightly worried about that though. For me Allen get's muscled off the ball way too easy when he plays the holding role, I saw it numerous of times last season. Henderson for me just isn't that type of player. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I think 8-9m for Capoue is a steal and maybe we should of considered it.

Let's just get this left back "problem" sorted first before we leave ourselves short in another area. It looks like Cissoko is going to Sunderland now, which is fine, I agree with what you said earlier that his progression seems to have stalled.

Pretty sure he came out and said he doesn't want to play for anyone but Madrid, last time I checked we weren't Madrid.

Dunno why the **** we need a holding midfielder.. We have Lucas.

I just hope to God we don't lose Agger, especially so soon after making him vice captain :( - Takes the **** that Barca value David Luis at £35m but Agger at £17m!?

Not really, Chelsea has a lot more money than Liverpool, plus that was their 'final' bid. Do you pay the 'list price' when you buy a car or a house? Exactly. Getting Chelsea to sell was always going to take more money than Liverpool, it has nothing to do with "how good the player is". I doubt Agger will go though, you don't get YNWA across your knuckles then **** off to a Barcelona team which look a little bit behind RM and Bayern at the moment, unless you're wanting to drive up a contract renewal like Rooney; though I don't seem him as that sort of player.

Didn't hear the Madrid quote, although many players say things like that

We need cover for Lucas.. him being injured would seriously put us in trouble again

People slate Joe Allen but he was brilliant first 3 months for us, but then he had to cover more for Lucas which is not his natural position.. his performances got worse and then he was injured

This pre season he seems to be a lot more further forward and alot more effective

Allen is a good player, no doubt about that. But what is it with Liverpool that seems to make seemingly top players (such as Allen and Downing) play so below-par (for their standards)? It seems to be a trend...

Not sure that's fair. Allen's played well for Liverpool, is young and took some time adjusting when Rodgers played him in a role he wasn't familiar with. Downing, on the other hand, merely regressed back to his actual real level of player after a purple patch the year before (cheers for the money btw 'Pool!). I mean, Suarez has hardly suffered from being at Liverpool.

Thats not a fair statement at all...

Allen was playing brilliantly before having to cover for an injured Lucas, then he got injured... cant really judge Allen just yet

Downing was a ridiculous signing for the amount paid, very one dimensional and did not fit very well into the Rodgers style of play

The likes of Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho have flourished at Liverpool and that's just recent examples

Are you serious? You accuse me of overrating Bale and then call Downing a top player... Downing has never been a top player even before Liverpool wasted all that money on him.

I like Liverpool as a club, and as a team, but I think some signings in the past few seasons have been made which have not really paid off. I'm not saying that's necessarily the fault of the club, or manager, but it just seems to be the case. Of course, a lot of time, there is a reason why they are playing badly, but I was just putting across my observation.

But go beyond the last couple of transfer windows, and a lot of the players signed have not been as good as they have played for other clubs, for Liverpool. Yes, the three you mentioned have been success stories but I could equally as well name three who have not achieved their previous form.

Aston Villa: Stewart Downing claims hat-trick of Aston Villa player of the year awards - Birmingham Mail

Yes, it's Villa, but you have to remember Young (as well as Bent) was there at the time too - and I bet many people would say Young is/has been a top player. And yes, I still personally think you are overrating Bale, but that's not to say he's not a very good player.

Ben Smith of the BBC also reporting the Willian interest. As i said a few pages ago, unlikely but not unrealistic

Would be a fantastic signing, but not believing anything just yet.

Question for those who have watched him more than i have... Can he play in the left forward position or is he a natural no. 10?

Versatile player, can play anywhere across the band of three behind the striker and seems comfortable in each.

Exact kind of player they should be going for.

Good luck though, if City are still interested.
