Can't blame Spurs.. Alot of hate towards them purely because they beat us to a signing

they offered more money and agree a fee with Anzhi, apparently we wouldn't go as high as Spurs

Spurs net spending will be we'll over 80mil with Willian, we have made a profit of £6mil .. How are we supposed to compete with that?

Willian is more than likely a direct replacement for Bale. I'm sure by the end of August their net spend will be lower than ours.

I think the main issue with the Willian transfer was we offered €30m then Tottenham came in with £30m.. They win. Think I would have prefered Lamela, but it looks like he's going to Spurs too!

Yup, will try and Lamela too.

Fair play to Spurs if they bag both..

With Bale's transfer it will be 120 Million for outgoing transfers and around 90 Million for incoming transfers which is -30 Million net spend.

Then again, their whole team just went to Madrid.

Spurs are 2 times more stronger in midfield now thanks to madrid and their stupid obsession for star players.

So they paid 35mil for Carrol but 30mil for Willian is too much?...Aiming for top 4 is all well and good but not with AW spending type. Also missing out on Costa,Mikhtaryan and Willian just shows how much have we fallen behind in stature.:S

Stature has nothing to do with it.

I might have chosen the wrong word but as Liverpool fan you should know what I wanted to say. It's not just Champions league,we really struggle to attract any big names last few seasons(cept Suarez). We really need some big signing to boost our wide positions and lift fans and players a bit.

Costa got paid a lot of money to stay.
Spurs offered more money. Nuff said.
Mikhtaryan went to a more competitive side.

There are still players available, don't think we need to start panicking just yet. Keeping Suarez is a massive signing in itself.

No chance of top 4 for us, then.

It's pretty pathetic, to be honest. If we're willing to pay 30 million, why drop out for an extra 5, which would also weaken top 4 competitors.

We may's well sell Suarez to Arsenal too then. Clearly we don't care enough

Still options in the likes of Muniain, Konoplyanka and Ljajic ... even the off chance of trying for Lamela

Nobody thought Willian was realistic and the only reason he seems to not be coming to us is because Spurs outbid us at the last minute and we refused to pay that much

Not ideal that our targets keep slipping away but not a complete mess...

No to Lamela. If you wouldnt pay the money for Willian, you're not getting Lamela

I'm all for value in the market, but that was borderline retarded. What does that say to Suarez? He'll be gone next year, if not Jan.

Completely agree... seems to be reported interest but he will be similar price to that of Willian, which we wouldn't pay

Muniain or Griezmann would be ideal, although Griezmann all depends on Soceidad getting through the Champions League

We are not in the Champions League and only really have 'the history of the club' as any sort of pulling power.. which dont really cut it much nowadays

FSG need to realise we may have to overpay a little if we are competing against sides in better positions for certain players... A Coutinho is not always going to come along

With how much players have been going for this summer, I wouldn't call what Spurs offered overpaying anyway.

we're not going to sign Lamela, don't get me wrong. but I think it's fair to say we think every player has his price, we thought willian's wasn't over 30 million, if we actually thought we'd try sign Lamela, then we'd value him, and then see if he's worth it for what Roma wanted for him etc

Turan is probably the most likely next target

In all fairness, I think trying to outbid Spurs would be a mistake. Clearly they're not going to just sit on Bale money, why get caught up in a bid war you can't possibly win, when you can look for other targets.
