No manager in the world will say 'oh yeah I agree that should have been a red card and we should have lost the game' but judging by some of you here, that's exactly what you expect from Jose

I think it's pretty clear what's going on ... Jose managed to spin some absolutely wayward story about Suarez diving which dominated the headlines instead of Eto's foul and what not which got all your knickers in a twist. In this case, I feel the blame lies more with the media and the reputation Suarez has created for himself instead of Jose who just did what any manager in the world would do, deflect attention away!

That's not what I said though is it? Most managers would accept that it was a bad tackle and accept that they were lucky and got away with what could have very easily been a game changing red card.

He spun nothing, he did what he always does and goes on the attack when things are against him. Suarez is an easy target for the media and anything he does say is likely to be plastered all over the papers. Anyone with half a brain can see past it, you just get the mindless drones who buy into it every time though.

No one bought into it, it just so happened that he managed to plaster over the controversial decisions by the referee with that partially accurate accusation that Suarez dived which made headlines instead and which seemingly everyone here is sore about. Blame the media and blame Suarez for creating that reputation ... I just don't see how Jose did anything wrong. That's how numerous other managers react as well

Sorry if you found it irrelevant, I found that to talk to an idiot and make him understand you , you need to descend to their level hence the my irrelevant reply to your misguided post

Sorry for this ^^ ... It was uncalled for and I apologise

Does it matter anymore lads? I was just as annoyed as others but its happened now... move on

Think Rodgers need to get Coutinho to work on his finishing. If he had scored them two shots (The one which he superbly brought down, and the one from the dribble) they would have been two fantastic goals

It's never Jos?'s fault in your eyes, is it? I'll tell you why it's his fault - he's wrongly criticised a player of diving, when he hasn't. That's slander, and the worse thing is, Jos?'s gets away with it because the media love him. I respect him as a manager, and as a character, but the criticism of Su?rez was just uncalled for from Jos?. And surely by releasing a controversial statement, he draws attention to the fact it was a foul, as many people will watch the incident for themselves rather than relying on a statement from Jos

I agree on Coutinho.. fantastic player but his finishing is erratic at best.

He has actually got a very good shot on him but if he works on it and improves he will be one of the better players in the league potentially in the future

It's discussion, albeit a heated one, isn't that what the forum is for?

No offence but you guys were kind of arguing in circles, which is why it just seems better to move on. We've already talked about the media perception element, the fan's perception of the infallible Jose and the hypocrisy for like 6 pages and pretty much everyone is just making the same post reworded in a different way.

There are much more interesting things to talk about, like Coutinho's finishing mentioned above. On that issue, it does show how vital Sturridge is to Liverpool and how much having that consistent goal threat offered them. Before, defenses were having a hard time with their partnership because if you weren't watching Sturridge he would work the channels so well, and if you weren't tight to Suarez he would rip you apart with the space. Now that the alternate threat has been removed, Liverpool are having to rely on more creative players to be direct goal threats, so teams seem to be feeling much more confident in actually restricting Suarez as Liverpool look to be sort of reverting to their old habit of creating chances without finishing them.

Fair enough, I do see your point.

And on the matter of Sturridge, I do agree - a defender's worst nightmare is marking multiple talented players, not just one. For example, with City (if they were playing at optimum level), you would have to watch Ag?ero, Silva, Navas and Tour?, just to name a few. Between those players, they have pace, stamina, creativity and finishing ability, which makes it an absolute nightmare to keep them all quiet!

Forgetting decisions in games, its been a very good season so far for Liverpool.

Injuries have been cruel to an already poor squad in terms of quality of depth. We have Enrique, Gerrard and Sturridge to come back and also the potential of January additions

with 7 of the top 8 still to come to Anfield, we have a fantastic chance of that 4th spot

We only have ourselves to blame for the injures, though - it's the lack of squad depth that has caused it. Of course, we have some talented youth players (Robinson, Coady, Yesil, etc.) and some new signings (Ilori, Alberto, Aspas, etc.), but a lot of them are not ready for the first team/have not impressed when given a chance. I'm not sure what Rodgers can really do about the depth, though - if would cost an awful lot of money to buy a plethora of talented players in January, and that's really the only way we can solve the squad depth problem instantly. The best bet would be to make do with what we have (maybe making one or two signings, but not buying 'for depth'), and use the Top 4 funds and Champions League football we [hopefully] will have at the end of the season to lure some quality players in in the summer.

There has been a massive turnaround of players in recent years, key players too... but that has been due to alot of different reasons

It is the first time in 4-5 years that we have a settled set of owners and a manager that is very secure in the job. Depth and quality will come over time as you never get every signing right

I highly doubt he's going to be aiming for purely squad depth players, that's the main reason Moses and cissokho
came in on loan. Relatively cost free depth for a season whilst he finds who he needs, granted neither have been all that great but only so many players out there for loan.

With Liverpool in with a very good shout of top four(probably favorites for fourth currently) wouldn't surprise me if real first team players were what he was after. Players capable of playing in Europe and doing well but either lacking a team around them or just not quite reaching their ability yet.

Interesting to see we scored most goals in 2013. 84 goals we got, 2 more than Man City. We also hit the woodwork 24 time, so could have been 100+!

Mohamed Salah (FC Basel, winger)

apparently we had a deal agreed with Basel for Salah, then his agent told Ayre we're his preferred destination, so Ayre in his infinite wisdom came back with a much lower offer which has ****** off Basel, and now they're reluctant to sell.

Ayre's a ****, but we all knew that.

same happened with Coutinho and Ilori... we were stubborn on prices we believed were correct
