Well Salah would have been improvement for you and likely given you a boost for top 4 finish. With no new additions it will be tough as Spurs have been better since Sherwood and Mata will likely boost Utd.

Shaqiri has been linked with various clubs this season and has said on couple occasions that he has no intention on leaving Bayern.

Your owners don't seem to get that in current climate you just cant go on trying to play moneyball all the time. Especially in january window paying bit over the odds gets the job done. I really hope this won't come back to haunt you as I can't really think for another player who could improve you as much at this point as Salah could have.

Its the owners way im afraid.. I suppose they see no funding from CL so signings have to be thought out and not past a certain price

Salah never excited me to be honest. If anything happens this window it needs to be a full back and a defensive midfielder, although i wouldnt complain adding an extra winger

Signing nobody wouldnt be a disaster, the squad we have currently sit 4th with the big games left in the season nearly all being at Anfield. Dont forget to mention all the injuries we have coming back, particularly defensively

We need to improve, but not a disaster if we dont. More money in the summer

You've had quite bad luck with injuries. While not as many as we've had you have had them hit defence pretty badly while we've had them all over the squad "luckily".

Yeah you are 4th, but it will be really tough battle to stay there and I think if there are no good additions 5-6 is more likely.
 
Mata's transfer to United has really thrown a spanner into the works. I don't think anyone outside of City can be certain of a Top 4 place at the moment

I'd say its fairly certain Arsenal, Chelsea and City will be in the top 4

Massive battle for 4th between Liverpool, Spurs, Everton and United... times like this you feel a 5th spot 'could' go to england in terms of CL qualification... at least 3 very competitive clubs will be missing out
 
It's weird, when Sterling broke through, he was the new big thing. Now he's playing waaaay better than how he was last season, barely anyone's speaking about him.

The difference is, Januzaj is probably only player performing for United after Rooney, and he's a kid. They're League Champions for whatever that's worth. In a team where everyone talks about Suarez or Sturridge, Sterling kind of gets overlooked.

I wouldn't say so to be honest ... You might think I am overreacting but Mata was the same player who dragged Chelsea to CL and FA Cup single handedly one season, he can just as easily drag United all the way too. EPL second half of the season going to be as unpredictable as ever

Too much Mata Fanboyism, I reckon. He doesn't put in a defensive shift, with Januzaj on the pitch, unless they add DM, they'd be very vulnerable. Mata was not the player who dragged Chelsea to CL, it was whole team. Saying he did it single handedly is belittling the contribution of other players, and just goes on to show your fanboyism, I'd put an argument for him being best no.10 ATM but I still wouldn't say he dragged us to CL single handedly. I could go on and on but I've had a bad enough day already.

I'm a pessimistic person, but jesus **** if we don't sign some players I think our chances of top four will be ******, and it's all down to Ian ******* Ayre and the rest of them *****. Feel sorry for Rodgers having to deal with that **** and owners who still dont understand the game.

He's never been a defensive player. And it never hurt him before. I think you have been listening to Jose way too much. Carrick and Fletcher in the midfield will leave us just fine defensively. You never heard anything about his defensive side until Jose benched him and used that as justification. Funny how no one mentioned it when he was your best player two years running and one of the best in the entire league.

Maybe I stretched it a bit far but he did carry our attack on his own in that season

Suarez won't be off anywhere I reckon ... He just signed a new contact and any fee to prise him out will be huge which no club can afford at the moment. Madrid just signed Bale. PSG and City can't keep splashing that kind of cash if they are serious about complying with the FFP

Suarez is going to regret signing that new contract if Pool don't finish in the top 4

He wont, as I suspect there is a fat but very watertight release clause in there.
 
Everyone is reporting a different release clause, which is quite good, as no one really knows how much it is apart from the club. Something tells me there'll be a foreign team buy out, and a domestic one, with the latter being staggeringly high.

Agreed, different levels, all set in stone though. The player, agent and club are bound not to release the clause if I remember rightly.
