Rumours tonight that Victor Valdes is an option. I personally think it would be a very good signing

Seems odd we'd replace one £100k p/w goalkeeper with another. Especially one that even a side like Monaco felt was too much of a gamble fitness wise.

Obviously if he's willing to take a wage similar to Mignolet's then I'm all for it.

Not sure why Liverpool need another keeper, especially one of Valdes' big wages.

Is he not injured long term?
think he is due back around late september/early october

Yeah would seem strange but may be the fact as we've not managed to sign a back-up and one is needed

I'm not at all confident in Mignolet tbh, and even less in Jones as a back-up

Mignolet's not perfect, but he's young for a keeper, and I'm not convinced he's bad enough to lose you any points. I think breaking up the communication between keeper and defence at this stage of the season and when your defence is bad enough already is probably a terrible idea.

Inter after Borini apparently, also weren't we going for Romero? Valdes would be on huge wages.

That could happen yes although I'd much rather prefer a goalkeeper who could command his area better and come for crosses convincingly

puts me on edge every time haha

Hardly harmed his career, everybody knows about his previous medicals and now he is at Chelsea.

The only people it affected was Liverpool not getting him

It does harm a players career and his chances of getting picked up in the future if you go around telling people that he failed a medical and has a problem. Makes other clubs more hesitant when in all honesty, they have no reason to be. Might even explain why Wenger took so long to move for him ... Wouldn't be surprised

I've got to agree with that. Those plastic flags are a **** good sight.

Great to see you have been watching. I imagine you needed something to occupy your Wednesday nights for the past 5 seasons!

Wenger is Wenger, that's why they took so long to move for him
Probably don't want Valdes then :P

Yeah, surprisingly i still think he is an upgrade haha!

I don't believe Liverpool ever came out and said Remy failed his medical? Brendan Rodgers said they made a last minute decision and that was all he had to say on it. I think it was just the media reporting he failed a medical.

Edit: "Rodgers said: "It's very simple - we've made a decision as a club not to go ahead with the deal. It's unfortunate for the player."We're disappointed for the player but there's nothing more to be said and we will move on and look at other targets.""

I imagine very few professional footballers 'pass' a medical. They all carry various niggles and in certain cases (Like Remy's) they have long standing conditions/issues/injuries. His knee is a problem, always has been and always will be. I suspect the medical team reminded the manager of this and he pulled the plug.

A medical in football is not like a medical on FM. There will of course be players who pass, and definitely players who fail. But most will fail into this huge grey area where the decision to proceed or not is basically a judgement call.

Valdes is apparently out until November which is longer than i thought - seems a strange one

Daniel Agger's open letter to Liverpool fans

"Liverpool has been such a big part of my life and my family’s lives for so long that leaving is extremely difficult.

I’ll start by saying that Liverpool fans constantly keep surprising me. Since the news broke about the transfer, I have received so many positive messages and well-wishing for the future – not just from supporters in Liverpool but across the world.

My family and I have always felt your backing, it is something unique to this football club, this city and our supporters – it’s been a privilege to have represented this club and I’m forever thankful for everything I have learnt during my time here.

When I joined this great club, I came here as a 21 year old boy with a lot to learn. Liverpool has helped me grow up and shape me into the man I am today. I’m proud of who I’ve become and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my time at Liverpool.

I’ve been honoured to live in this close knit city and my experiences as a Liverpudlian are unforgettable. I’d finally like to wish the club all the best for this season. I’ll be supporting you every step of the way, as will millions of others. You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Daniel Agger"

I thought it had to be posted.

So United almost got another attacking player(Falcao)... still can't understand what they are doing there....They don't see their huge defensive problems?
