Anyone worried about the Sterling leaving situation? Been a lot of talk about him not wanting to sign a new contract because of interest from Real Madrid, PSG, Barca.

The only worry would be is that hes not a mersie side lad. And Madrid will just pay 80m and offer him god knows how much in wages, But he still has 3 yrs left but that dont really mean anything these days. If i was you i would want it sorting sooner rather than later, or maybe he thinks he will never win anything at Pool. Strange one really.

Yup my thought exactly. Teams like Madrid/PSG/Man City don't care about how long is left on their contract as they will just send out a huge sum of money anyways. He is the next big thing no doubt about it. He has progressed and achieved more than Ronaldo when he was 19 and will only get better. If we don't do well this season he will start to think about going elsewhere IMO.

That's not really true, but even if it was it's irrelevant. Age of maturity has nothing to do with how good a player turns out to be. Freddy Adu accomplished far more than Ronaldo did by the age of 14 and has done nothing since, so it's not really a great idea to start comparing Sterling to one of the best players of all time.

I don't really see Sterling leaving for another two years at least, either way. He's not the brightest, but he's not so thick he doesn't know what's good for him. Leaving to join a Spanish giant would be terrible for his career.

Not really.

Media talk generated due to him being one of the best young footballers in the world. If he does leave it wont be on the cheap but i cant see that happening for a few years at the very least

If Sturridge isn't ready for a starting place I'd love to see Gerrard play in behind Balotelli again and see how it works. Gerrard seemed to enjoy it.

Are the rumors about Reus true or just media bullshit?

Reus has been a long standing rumour since last year now. The only way i can see it happening is if what the Mirror and Metro are saying that we are willing to pay him 200k a week

200k a week, guarenteed playing time and the 'star player' in the side 'MAY' be enough to tempt him

Yeah i guess with that wage per week, he gets the ''star player' role and as long as the guarentedd time, i cannot see markovic or lalana to be able to threat his position.... so sterling reus sturridge will be one of the greatest tripletes in BPL,
dont forget what our rivals have. United: Van persi rooney Di maria (falcao, mata),, Arsenal: Ozil(even though he got injured) sanchez Cazorla,

We definetely need him asap! Hope this transfer gets completed on January!

Hodgson is a ***** for using Sterling as a way of taking the criticism away from a poor performance yesterday. I think Sterling has every right if he feels it's for the good of the team. It's disgusting some of the criticism he has been getting.

From whom? Looks like he is appreciated for his honesty at least by Rio and Lineker.

I think Hodgson just answered the question on why Sterling didn't start.

Just from looking at people's comments on BBC/Facebook.

And just because he is asked doesn't mean he has to answer. Things like that should be kept private IMO.

Also Hodgson praised Sterling,
The England manager seemed aware that Sterling had left himself open to criticism and said: “People don’t like it when you simplistically tell the truth. Is it common? I don’t really know. But I think it should be, especially at international level when there are so many good players trying to get their hands on the shirt. I don’t think you should keep hold of it when maybe you are feeling you’re not at your best. I think it would be wrong of players to try to fool me into thinking they are ready and 100% when they aren’t because they are robbing somebody else of an opportunity.”
Hodgson said Sterling approached him during a 40-minute training session on Saturday. “Raheem had done the warm up and he came to me and said: ‘Look I really am feeling a little tired, I am not in my best form at the moment because I am feeling a bit tired.’ Don’t forget it was two days after quite a difficult game against San Marino. It was fatigue he hadn’t managed to shake off after the San Marino game.”
Hodgson did accept, though, that many people would be surprised that Sterling should be complaining of feeling tired at this stage of the season. “I can’t argue with the reasoning and I’m sure that will be said,” he said. There was also a message to Liverpool that “it’s a bit unfair if all the expectation to give the player a break falls on my shoulders.

Not sure how he is a ***** for answering a question and praising Sterling. On the other hand Rodgers...

And people would have blamed Hodgson for not playing Sterling. Good to see some honesty in the game.

Wait why is Hodgson at fault here? Sterling asked for a rest, Roy didn't start him, brought him on as a sub when we were doing poorly and he won the free kick for the goal. Not sure where Roy has used him to 'take away criticism' or anything like that.

Ok. From what I've seen it seems like he was using it to deflect criticism. Have been busy at work today so I haven't had ages to look into it properly.

Edit: I still don't think Roy should have said what he said though. All he needed to say was he wasn't 100% so didn't start. Still think he used it to some extent do take criticism away as all I have seen is about Sterling and nothing about England's woeful performance.

All Roy's said is it's a bit unfair for the burden of resting players to fall solely on him, which I think is probably right.

Hahahaha 1-0 against Estonia. So ****. Let's **** this ***** off now and get back to the Premier League every weekend. Thanks Woy **** off now mate. Watching England the past 3 years has been like watching paint dry.
